Chapter 2: First Quest! 1/2

I got ready, getting out of bed, brushing teeth and hair, wearing sturdy clothes, and bringing a machete with me. What? I was careful, and needed something to clear the underbrush. Speaking previously about Magic Beasts, they came in several ranks. Common, Adept, Epic, Legend, Mythic. I was a regular human at 181 cm tall, If I wanted to fight an Epic, I'd probably have to spam some cantrips and finish it off with Burning Hands. I sighed, if I wanted that magic item, I would have to achieve the bonus. I went and made breakfast, eggs with pepper and bacon. Magic Beasts were quite tasty. When properly prepared, Magical Beast meat was edible, raw? Nope. Quite the opposite. They were quite toxic if not drained of energy by Cultivators. The energy came from magic cores within the beast, allowing them the strength of the World Energy, also known as Dao by cultivators.

I went off to the Silent Woods, a quite oxymoronic name, as it was the opposite. Magic Beasts hunted and lived within the Woods. When I entered the forest, there were no beasts in sight, but that was to be expected, as they mostly lived in the inner forest. I traveled through around 2km, and faced a Giant Spider! Fuck it, kill it with fire! 'Firebolt!' I shouted. And it hit the Giant Spider, square in the face, burning it's head off. After it died, it dropped a magic core. [Ding! Magic Core Identified, can be used to give +1 to any single Attribute.] 'Oh, that's useful, how do I use it?' [You must hold it in your hand, and think of a stat to upgrade. Attributes are gated every 5 levels, Maximum of 15 at level 5, 20 at 10, 25 at 15, etc. It corresponds to Tier level in Daoists.] I picked up the core, it was the size of a baseball, the stronger the beast, the bigger the core. I thought that since I would be hunting beasts after the quest anyways, I would put a point into STR, so I did so. [Ding! +1 STR added.]

I continued my journey through the forest for the next few hours, killing three more Common beasts, and even facing an Adept! It was stronger than the previous beasts, but nothing like trapping it in Create Bonfire, and peppering it with Firebolt. After it died, the System told me that Adept Cores increased stats by +2! So I went and absorbed the core, and added it to my Charisma, and Wisdom to upgrade my damage.'Stat Window.' I thought.

Looking through the EXP bar, I saw it was 300/1000, I asked, 'How much experience are Magic Beasts worth?' [Commons are 50, Adept 100, Epic 150, Legend 200, and Mythics are 250 each.] Mythic Beasts are as strong as Tier 5 Cultivators, it's unwise to face one at your level.] I grimaced, knowing Tier 5s could wipe out entire continents! As I was learning from the system, rustling in the trees alerted me to something coming, and I saw a Monstrous Bull! It was at least Epic ranked! I spammed Firebolt into it's face, and then it charged at me, my attacks dealing less damage to it with it's innate strength higher than my own. I swung at it's legs, using Green-Flame Blade to slash at it's rear leg, I hit, burning and slashing it, slowing the Monster down. I dodged it's admittedly slower 2nd charge, slashing it again with the spell, and it fell over, allowing me to finish it off with Burning Hands! Melting the Bull's face off. [Ding Epic Rank Core found, +3 to a single stat, or a combination, as your stats are gated as of now until you're level 6. The monster also dropped a Sacred Flame Spell Book, do you want to learn it?] 'A new spell, yes! I will also add +3 to my DEX, I needed to be faster, dodging last minute was a dangerous move! [Sacred Flame added to spells, Holy Fire Damage. Ignores Cover, and Resistences to Magic Fire. Damage is determined by Wisdom and Charisma. Wisdom determines Mana regeneration and adds to Holy Fire.] I was pretty stunned by Sacred Flame, It was perhaps my strongest cantrip I had, so with that, I continued deeper into the woods.
