19 Hunt

After some time the boar wasn't calming down; instead, it was becoming crazier. Dev was now sure that even if he did nothing, the boar would die from the injuries caused by arrows and ramming into trees.

He was not a sadist and he didn't take delight in the suffering the boar was suffering. In order to keep the boar from suffering any longer, he decided to kill it in a single shot.

In order to kill the boar in one shot, he decided to use Prana. The arrow was nocked and Prana was added to increase the power of the arrow. When Prana was added to the bow, it started shaking.

<gwofw> In the end, he did not shoot the arrow right away. It was important that he didn't miss this arrow.

The boar got stuck in the tree when he rammed himself into it, giving him his chance. An arrow was successfully shot and struck the boar. In addition to hitting the vitals, the arrow was powerful enough to penetrate the boar's whole body and strike the tree, which ended up killing it.

After a long hunt, the boar finally died. He was panting on the tree branch he was sitting on. By using Prana, the bow became ruined. It was all cracked.

A warrior never throws his weapon, so he put the broken pieces of the bow in his Pocket Space.

While he sat there, he panted heavily. As soon as he regained enough energy to walk, he jumped down from the tree and approached the body.

He couldn't store the boar's body in his Pocket Space, nor did he intend to drag the dead boar's body as it would put him and Lily in danger.

Dev took out a knife from his Pocket Space and cut the Boar into pieces big enough to be stored in the Pocket space. He returned to Lily after storing the boar's meat.

Her excitement when she saw him returned made her jump on him. He was welcomed by her licking his face.

Lily's actions made him smile; "Did you miss me?" he asked.

Dev's question prompted "Meow... meow" from her.

She hissed at him due to the stench coming from his hand when he started rubbing her head. He had a bloody smell emanating from his hand. The smell offended her. She sat on his head as a means of escaping the stench.

Dev was not bothered by her response. Having been mentally drained by the hunt, he needed time to refresh. Rather than go looking for water, he decided to take a bath from his stored water since it was some distance from him.

Only enough water was saved for the food and drink and the rest was used for his bath.

He took out the meat for dinner after taking a bath. When Lily saw the meat, her eyes started shining.

Despite wanting the meat, she didn't attempt to take it for herself. "Don't worry, I'll provide as much as you want." Dev smiled, and she meowed in response.

After cleaning the meat, it was boiled. The boiled meat was divided into two sections, the first consisting of one-third and the second of two-thirds. He put one-third on a plate for Lily and cooked the remaining portion for himself using condiments.

They enjoyed a satisfying dinner together that night. He made a bed for himself after eating. Lily snuggled up to him and they both fell asleep. Because he was both physically and mentally fatigued, he fell asleep quickly.

Dev slept until noon the next day. The feeling of relaxation he experienced when he awoke was amazing.

He had to make a new bow after his previous one was ruined yesterday. It is impossible to predict what you will encounter in the jungle. He would be more secure in the jungle if he had a weapon.

His bow needed to be flexible and strong, so he needed a long piece of dry, flexible wood. Being in a jungle with many kinds of trees, he didn't have to look long to find it. He used stone broken with sharp edges he found here and there for shaping the bow since he didn't have any materials for it. He started shaping the wood according to his body size after determining the curve that was needed.

Since he already had a string of his previous bow, he didn't need to make a new one. Despite not knowing what it was made of, the string was extremely strong and had a high tensile strength. Finally, the bow was made after working long and hard. Many of his arrows were damaged and could not be used for the kill, so he made new ones as well. When Dev had finished making the bow, he began preparing dinner.

In the following days, Dev decided to train every single day for four hours with Archers. If he had been fighting Lions or Tigers, they would never have given him a chance to fight back. His accuracy needed to be improved. Dev's archery improved as the days passed.

Three months have passed since Dev began his journey. His destination was still a long way off.

In the past two months, Dev's schedule has been very simple: he meditates for as long as his body could handle, he trains in archery for at least four hours, he plays with Lily, and so on. His archery has improved. With a still target, he could now make at least two out of three shots. One out of five when the target moves at ten meters per second.

7 months went by without any trouble or disruption in Dev's journey. As he neared his destination, he became more excited.

In one instance, he climbed the tallest tree he saw to find out if he was near any danger and if there was a source of water nearby.

A nearby source of water drew his attention, but he also saw something he didn't expect.

Not far from him, a group of Elves was engaged in combat with strange beasts, about which he held no knowledge off.

The silver-haired elves were obvious to him, so he eventually took a sigh of relief when he didn't see a golden-haired elf. It was the Elf group that won in the end, and they killed all the beasts.

Lily and he hid, until the group moved away from him, as he did not want to have any contact with a stranger.

On the third day, he stumbled upon another group. Still, he hid and did the same thing.

After that day, Elves started showing up more frequently in groups. He guessed that either a treasure had been found or a ruin had been opened.

Dev had no intention of checking what it was. Furthermore, he had no desire to acquire any treasure. Being alive was more important than anything else at this moment. Eventually, Rose called him and cautioned him that a Ruin had opened up, and he needed to adjust his plan accordingly.

In order to reach the destination, he changed directions. Detours increase the duration of a journey, but he wasn't concerned with the extra duration considering the risks involved. Similarly, he was sure that meeting Elves would be inevitable if he continued in this direction. Previously, he was traveling in the eastern direction, but now he will travel in the northern direction.

Having not seen any group for days, he was not surprised. As the journey grew peaceful again, his mood improved. As he approached his destination, he became more excited.

When will Dev reach Level 1?

We'll find out next time...
