A whisper in the abyss

The cloud sea was blinding Meng'er, she couldn't see anything, the entire campsite was being drowned on it, she still could hear the fights but only clouds are at her sight.

Being caught in this situation she didn't get anxious but started to get even more calmer, it wasn't time for her to lose her mind, the enemy was using a drastic technique and this would dry his spirit qi.

Acting boldly she closed her spiritless eyes as her face was one of sleeping beauty, her spirit qi started circulating as she released it from her body very slowly forming some kind of field.

On this barely visible field littles, a red lotus was blooming slowly and they would release a yellow powder in the air.

Her eyes suddenly opened wide then she tilted her upper body to the side evading a saber aura who was flying at her by millimeters, she could feel the sharp qi pricking her fair skin as it passed in front of her.

Evil Cloud complexion was pale, his spirit qi was being sucked dry by the sea of clouds, this was one of the techniques he learned in his old sect and its name was <Sea of clouds drown the earth>.

If he was at least two lesser realms stronger he could use this to fight, but his cultivation was on a bottleneck for years he always felt that he was never going to break through, leaving him powerless at the past events in his life.

When he used this technique was to buy time, the old man told him that something happened to Xinghong and Black Sparrow needed time to treat him, if it was only those disciples he could let them die and evacuate the camp with the rest, but he couldn't let his son die.

But Meng'er lotus field was a big problem, it was a tracking skill that could counter his sea of clouds perfectly, she would leave pollen in the air and as just a single one of them found him, it was enough for her to find him as well.

So he decided to use another simple tactic to buy time, he wouldn't let her complete her technique by assaulting her from distance, this way even with her incomplete field he could still be hidden in the clouds.

Outside the cloud sea the disciples the heated battle was still going even at the borders of the sea, some smart disciples would use the clouds to their advantage and would sneak an attack at the enemy or even hidden themselves to escape death.

Taking a last glance at the sea of clouds old man Hu said to Yong in a lower voice "Your message was delivered boy, now our sect master is going to do his best to buy time, but I believe that isn't very effective, so you should take some disciples and go look for that girl"

Yong wasn't very fond of the elder suggestion but he also hadn't any choice, it was that or this battlefield, he could feel some intense gazes at his back and he already saw those two girls from last time.

This time their eyes were different they didn't look weaklings like before, and this gave a sense of pressure, not because they could really be a threat but because their confidence gave him a complete distinct feeling from last time.

He didn't know about it but Shi's lesson to Bao and gift to Little An made a true difference in their lives, it gave a boost in their motivation and it changed their bearing.

This entire bad situation made him lose all his sharp qi, young master Yun life was hanging by a thread, Cuifen was rescued by Long Shi, Black Sparrow was doing what he needed to save Xinghong and needed everyone help to buy time.

And as he got at the campsite he saw that the sect master was also wounded by the enemy. Gulping down his fear he shot a glance at the nearest core disciple, he didn't found Linghu, Sima was already dead and Jiangu was a traitor, it was only him and Xinghong from the true elite.

As he found more two pawns it was time for him to get out of this campsite, as he was walking in the direction of the forest he shot a last glance at the battlefield, in his head this battle was already lost.

Liang was lying on one of the highest branches of a giant tree, her head was leaned over the bark as she glanced at the cloudless skies full of stars.

Her body was already so tired she couldn't move any muscle, it was a side effect of burning her blood essence, it also would hold back her cultivation as her body was going to be weak for some time.

But in her head it was all worth it, because it was dark she couldn't see Cuifen situation, but even if she could, she would take the same decision again as it proved to be right, if it was Shi he would only fall at the hands of Feng Wu.

Taking her glance back from the skies she let her body relax and closed her eyes, it was all in the hands of Shi now, if he couldn't save Cuifen and himself it was okay, they already did all they could, in the end, Liang was still blaming herself for being a bad sister.

Shi felt like eyes were on his back, and shooting a glance to Cuifen who was sleeping he gulped down if wasn't her who was it? He didn't know his father had a way to keep the beasts away but he thought about all that happened in the forest those two nights, all the beasts are probably scared of coming out of their nest.

So he was near a beast's nest? it didn't look like, because he was tired, he was paying attention to his surrounding so he knew he wasn't on a one.

The only answer was, his enemies are coming for him, and since it was this weird feeling, they probably had a way to find him.

"You kinda right boy, I just don't know if they could track you or this girl, but anyway you need to keep going, after getting down the abyss you will have to treat her in a rush" Long Shin answered his doubts and hurried him at the same time.

"Can't you use some kind of mind technique to make them lose my track?" Shi asked as he was making a running motion but was still walking.

"…" Giving Shi a discount because he was tired and all this situation was already pretty bad Long Shin didn't say anything and let the kid think about his own words.

Suddenly the trees disappeared and a great view came at Shi's sight, it was a gigantic abyss that looked like someone slashed a giant sword through the valley.

Because of the dark night, the abyss looked like a giant black hole sucking everything to him, letting Shi bewildered for some time until he started to hurry up in the direction of this giant black hole.

When Shi got by the side of the abyss he got stunned again he could see only darkness and a weird feeling crept into his heart. Seeing the kid like this Long Shin thought about that remark made by Nietzsche 'if you stare into the abyss, the abyss stares back at you'.

Shi mind was empty as he was in a trance looking at the abyss, suddenly the <Vipassana Chant> started to automatically sound on his mind, clearing this bad empty feeling, and just as Shi was about to think how he should go down he heard something he never wanted to hear.

"Huhuhu" a soft enchanting laugh sounded at the night, the sound reverberated at the abyss as it got low and low almost becoming a whisper, making cold sweat go down Shi's neck.
