10 BECOMING AN ADVENTURER - 1

The following day, the gentle rays of the rising sun peered their way through the light curtains and provided a serene light in the room. Augustus woke up and did some light exercises. Afterwards, he took a bath and changed into new clothes.

Quickly, Augustus was on the first floor, and because it was the morning, there were many customers present at the bar eating before going to their respective jobs.

Suddenly, Augustus saw Ava, the proprietress's daughter serving some customers. He let her finish before approaching her, and he asked.

''Hello, Ava. Good morning. I need your help with something ''

''Oh? Morning Augustus. Did you sleep well?'' Ava asked.

''Extremely well.''

''That's good then. You said you needed my help. How can I help you, Augustus?"

''I wanted to ask you if there are any specific things I'd need to do to become an adventurer. I was about to go there to register this morning.''

''You want to become an adventurer? Are you sure, It's a dangerous job.'' Ava asked being a little surprised

''Don't worry I'll be careful'' I said with a little smile.

''Well okay then. I don't think the process to become an adventurer is very complex. You just need to go there and have to take a simple test which will evaluate the rank you'll get. Ah, there's also the fees which were about 5 silvers I think.

Having finished asking a few more questions about where the guild is, Augustus thanked her.

''It's fine, more than half of the people in the city come here to become an adventurer so it is a pretty common thing to know. You sit down, I'll bring you breakfast''. Ava said before running to the kitchen. Her mother seemed busy; Augustus did not see her. She's probably in the kitchen cooking.

Augustus sat on the chair, waiting for his breakfast.

In the meantime, he was thinking about what kind of test would he have to take. He knew he cannot hide the fact about his affinity everywhere and he was not going to anyways. It might bring some troubles being different but he'll have to make do with it.

After a few minutes, Ava brought his breakfast. After eating it, Augustus decided to go out and visit the guild. With light steps, he left.

After leaving the [Nightingle] Inn, Augustus walked in the opposite direction to the Inn.

The guild was only a few kilometres away from his inn and was one of the reasons he choose the inn.

After walking for around twenty minutes he arrived in front of an extravagant tower-like structure. Many people were going in and out of that place and it looked very beautiful. The outside structure of the tower was built with a white stone with light gold crafting on it which looked like ruins. After admiring the beauty of the building, he decided to go in.

The Guild Hall was not what I had expected it to be. A vivid image of a place filled with thugs seated around wooden tables downing beer was what I envisioned. Instead, it was a building filled with prestige and luxury. A marble structure towered over us like a sacred museum. Once inside, it was clear the amount of work that had been put into the intricately designed interior. There were tables made from metal where I could see other adventurers giving us a passing glance. The whole place had an ambience of extravagance that didn't suit me, much less some of the barbarian-looking adventurers here, but I simply continued my stride.

''Welcome. What business do you have here?''

While Augustus was curiously looking around the guild, a voice suddenly called to him. So, he turned his eyes in the direction of the voice, and he saw several receptionists, one of them had called him.

As expected of the receptionists, who are the faces of the Adventurers Guild, they were all beautiful women with great figures. There were beast people with dog ears and cat ears; there was also an elf receptionist.

Naturally, of course, there were also human receptionists, but It was the Blue-haired Elf receptionist who called Alex. He advanced towards her and declared.

''Hello, I would like to register with the guild to become an adventurer.''

''Oh! It's a newcomer; welcome to our guild, Boy. We hope you'll survive long enough. Let's cheer for the newcomers.'' A middle-aged man, an adventurer drinking at the bar, said.

''Cheers,' said the others before gulping down the contents of their glasses.

Augustus was astonished because he thought that they would mock him for sure. Well, truly unexpected, Augustus slightly bowed in their direction before returning and facing the beautiful Elf receptionist.

''Welcome; please sign your name, age, and status on the form here. Don't worry; we won't disclose anything. Do you need me to write for you?'' she asked him with a smile, professional smile before a transparent barrier surrounded them which startled him. Looking at him like this she smiled at explained that what she formed was a barrier that isolated him and prevent people from listening to their conversation.

''No, it's okay,'' Augustus responded. He was quite astonished at the display of magic by the receptionist. Sound magic was very hard to master and was one of the trickiest element derivatives of wind.

After Augustus finished filling out the form, he handed the piece of paper back to the receptionist. She was surprised at first when she read the form and a dangerous glint passed through her eyes as she read that Augustus wrote he didn't have an affinity.

''Are you perhaps here to play pranks'' She said with a smile that made him remember Cassandra and cold sweat appeared on his back. He explained before probably getting kicked out of the guild.

''I don't have any affinity but I can do magic'' Augustus said before waving his hand and making the little pen and paper in the receptionist's hands fly. To say she was surprised was an understatement. The face she was making was quite funny right now.

''Follow me, I'll bring you the private test area''.

''Don't I need to pay up first?''

''That can wait I'm quite interested in that magic of yours''. She said before leading him to a small room which had something carved on the floor with complex writings on it.

Looking at Augustus who was curiously glaring at it, she added ''That is what you call a magic circle, A 5-circle space mage is needed to carve it permanently and it runs on mana crystals.

He was amazed that someone that powerful carved this here. Listening to these things, his resolve of becoming stronger was also growing each day.

After a bright golden glow surrounded them, they got teleported to a room which was pure white and quite big. He felt even if he tried using all his mana it would be hard to make a dent in it.

''Who will be testing me and what do I need to do'' Augustus asked knowing he pretty much had no clue on how to get things done''

The receptionist in the room turned her head and gave a sweet smile to him before summoning an icicle in her hand and saying in a sweet voice

''Who else but me?''
