22 The Turbulence of Time

Time flew by, and soon two whole years had passed since that happy and warm day.

It is now midsummer, and many changes have taken place in those two years.

Ivan is sixteen years old. He got taller and his frequent exercise also gave him a certain amount of muscle.

Jessica has also become cooler and is 1.74 meters tall. In addition to daily self-reaction training, she also learned street fighting skills with Lucas.

When she had seen Tony Stark on the screen saying, "I am Iron Man" at the press conference, she smiled and said, "Should I also have a awesome hero name?"

Ivan responded, "Yea, what about the black cavalry?"

Ivan thought the name was cool, and she would also like it.

Sure enough, she snapped her fingers and said it sounded nice and cool.

As a result, and in order to match the title, she rarely wears clothes with colors other than black since then.

During the summer, Ivan lived in New York to take care of the orchard. He bought more land, and various fruit trees have been planted. In addition to Karen, Angel was also taken in by Ivan and started to work on the farm. The two of them are responsible for wholesale and sales.

Jessica was not idle either. She also wanted to make some money, so she took a part-time job in a moving company in New York during the summer. She has been doing it for a good two weeks now.

  ~In the evening~

  "Jones, It's time to leave!"

A short man in a short-sleeved shirt and shorts walked into the lounge and called Jessica's last name.

At this moment, Jessica was looking at her favorite detective novel "Sherlock Holmes" on the lounge bench. She was interrupted while she was at a wonderful part. She frowned, then nodded at the man.

  "Got it."

"Hurry up, Let's go." The short man slapped the door frame, motioning for her to hurry up.

Closing the book, Jessica turned got up from the chair. On her upper body was a women's black leather jacket, and on her lower half there were black jeans. She had black and shawl long hair, which was very cool.

She did not look like she worked as a mover.

The white truck was parked outside the company, and the short man was already waiting for her in the driver's seat.

"Hurry up! Can you move any slower?"

"Give me a second. I'm right here."

There was a frown between Jessica's eyebrows. She was rarely polite to people, especially when Ivan was not by her side.

Her tenderness disappears when Ivan and her family aren't around.

She walked to the right side of car with a cold face. She stretched out her hand to pull the door, and with a 'click', the door was pulled open by her, creating a spark for a moment.

After that, she jumped into the car and put the car door back to its original position casually.

The short man stared, "Did you break the car door again?"

"Start driving, aren't we in a hurry?"

"Do you know what will happen if I tell the boss?"

"I'll fix it." Jessica said lightly, still holding the detective novel in her hand. She had now buried her face in her book and continued to read the wonderful scene of sherlock solving the case.

  "Unreasonable."

The short man started the truck and didn't dare to say too much more. After all, he knew that the woman next to him was a freak, a freak in strength.

Originally, as a mover, they were in a group of two, and it was a good thing that he had such a strong partner. But he felt that Jessica was too slow to work and was too strong to be moving the furniture that slowly.

There is not much work to do as dozens of partners in the company are rushing to complete jobs that make more money. Yet she just takes her time!

He cursed in his heart: 'This Women, if it weren't for her tormenting, I would earn 50% more every day! I really want to tear that book out her hand.'

The moving truck is on the way to the customer's house, and everything is normal.

But after a while, the short man sitting in the driver's seat frowned. He felt that something was wrong.

There are fewer people on the street and less cars. The cars are actually driving in the opposite direction, and some are driving in a rush.

He was suspicious, but he continued to drive forward.

He began to hear constant noises ahead, almost like gunshots.

"what?" The short man murmured to himself.

Jessica also heard the gunshots. She raised her head and saw that it was very chaotic. A wave of people were rushing back, and some people ran by the truck without fear of being hit.

  "Is someone robbing a bank?"

The short man laughed sarcastically and stopped the car because the gunshots in front of him were getting louder and louder. He was feeling more uneasy the more he approached.

But stopping here, he still felt safe.

This is not a small street where all kinds of gangs are allowed to run wild. It is the Fifth Avenue in New York! Which desperate gang would dare so something like this?

He felt that the criminal would be suppressed soon, and most of this intensive gunfire should belong to the police.

'Bang', There was the sound of gunfire in the front, and smoke gradually filled the air.

A flaming car struck the door of a tackle shop on the left, and then with a bang, the fuel tank exploded, and the entire shop ignited into flames.

Jessica squinted her eyes and closed the detective novel in her hands subconsciously.

The short man turned his head to look at Jessica and said, "We should make a detour, but it will cost a lot of gas."

He stared at Jessica, and said, "Actually, it's not too bad. I can make more money every day, so the extra gas bill will be included in your salary. Is that okay? Or just..."

He noticed that Jessica's mouth was slightly widened, and his eyes became wide. He then turned his head to look forward, but all he saw was a car flying toward him and hitting the windshield!

With a bang, the glass could not withstand such a strong impact, and it shattered into fragments and embedded into the flesh of the short man.

Jessica reacted quickly and ducked in time to avoid it. Otherwise, her leather jacket would not be the only thing covered in glass.

Her heart was beating violently, and she got up and looked out. There was no one else on the street, and only a monster standing in the middle of the road.

  It was huge.

It had dark green skin, fin-like ears, well-developed muscles with popping veins, with white eyes without pupils.

Even so, Jessica, whose heart was beating violently, felt that the monster was staring as her.

She panted slightly and turned her head to look at the short man in the driver's seat. His eyes were staring ahead... His neck, face, and body all had debris! He was Constantly bleeding.

  He died!

The monster was holding a soldier in his right hand at the moment. It threw the soldier away, and then walked towards Jessica step by step.

In the sky, a helicopter was roaring, and the monster's body constantly emits a thump. It is the sound of bullets hitting its hard skin, Yet they had no effect!

The intensive firepower suppression in the air seemed to be a joke, as it didn't even show pain.

It stomped on the ground and cracks webbed the ground. It roared and rushed towards the truck where Jessica was sitting.

Her pupils contracted suddenly, and Jessica felt her hairs stand up and her adrenaline soaring. She kicked the door of the car and quickly jumped out of the truck.

With a loud noise, the big truck flew twenty meters away with a punch by the monster.

Seeing all this, she kept stepping back, but the monster turned around again and locked eyes with her.

There is no way to escape.

She gritted her teeth and picked up a car next to her and held it above her head.

  "Stay away!" she yelled instinctively.

The monster's pupils flickered twice, and it seemed to be surprised. It walked towards Jessica curiously.

'How can this human woman lift a car?'
