Part 2

"Incoming!!"

Jasko decided the first fight of the day needed to be a big one. As he ran over the crest of the hill, he occasionally sent an arrow towards his pursuers to make sure they kept following. Wendelyn got in position to grab their attention, while Korlok found the perfect spot on top of a nearby rock, with a perfect view of the battlefield.

The castle was Jasko's favorite place to fight these last couple seasons. Though it wasn't really a castle. It was the foundation of what was supposed to be a large house, built by some crazy guy that was mayor 100 seasons ago. He thought it would be a good idea to live outside of the city. But after a few of the builders were killed by some roaming monsters, no one would finish the job.

The area was overrun with berries, so when the wind blew through, the air smelled like pie from the town square back in Kelthor. No wonder Mayor Kalen wanted to live out here!

Since Korlok barely had to do any healing, they decided to step things up a bit. Wendelyn did a quick run around the foundation perimeter, and grabbed every monster she saw.

The battle lasted a while, but the crowd of goblins, bats and wolves was no match for the trio.

As the last goblin corpse hit the ground, Wendelyn felt a sudden jolt run through her body, and had to crouch down on one knee. Jasko and Korlok saw the brief glow of light around her body, and knew exactly what was happening. Wendelyn just got her 3rd skill. As a 2 skill Shadowknight, she already had a Darkness skill that causes a decent amount of damage, and her 1st utility skill was a Siphon Life skill that allowed her to absorb a small amount of life from a monster. But she had been waiting a long time for her 2nd damage spell. Weaken. Decent amount of damage, with a small damage over time, and slightly lowers a monster's strength. As the glow faded away, Wendelyn lifted up the side of her shirt, and could see that her emblem had changed again.

Back when she turned 20 seasons old, she woke up one morning to find a small skull on her hip. She was now a Shadowknight in the Protectors Guild. As she trained, the skull got darker and darker. Once she became a 2 skill Shadowknight, and gained her 1st utility skill, Siphon Life, her emblem went through its first change. Droplets of blood appeared around the skull, stretched towards the skull as if it was pulling the blood from it's surroundings.

By now, the skull and droplets were pretty dark, but there was now a chain wrapped around the skull. It was very light, but she knew it wouldn't take long to darken it up.

As excited as she was to get her 3rd skill, they still had work to do for the others to get theirs.
