Elsie was far from able to accept his love confession in her disheartened state. She had told Archie about her own experience and that she was pregnant, hoping to dispel his pursuit of her.

However, Archie hadn't cared. Instead, he'd promised that he would treat her well and look after the child as his own. Of course, Elsie hadn't believed his promise. She was ready to leave after recovering from her injury, but she had never liked to owe others. Thus, she had to repay the medical expenses she owed Archie.

Archie's parents owned a supermarket in the countryside. He had proposed to let her work in the supermarket to return the favour, and Elsie had agreed as she was worried that she could not find a job.
