Chapter thirteen: House keeping

As Camilla was taking a stroll down the empty street, she couldn't help but feel grateful for the peace. That's when she heard a low murmur coming from two women standing a few feet away. As she got closer, she realized they were discussing an old mansion that was apparently in dire need of a housekeeper.

But as Camilla listened in, she noticed that the conversation had taken a dark turn. One of the women began to share rumors she had heard about the mansion and its previous workers. She spoke of people who had worked there and were never the same again, and of others who had simply vanished without a trace.

The other woman joined in, adding that some of the previous housekeepers had left the job with strange, unexplainable injuries. The scariest rumor of all was about an old lady who had worked there. According to the story, the lady had cut her tongue and had never spoken a word about the mansion or anything else ever again.
