Prologue

"Hello? I'm looking for a job, and I was wondering if I could work as a proofreader here at your bookshop?" I said as I gave my biggest smile to the owner. The owner just looked at me and gave a little scoff. He slammed the door on me, nearly hitting me on my face.

"Well, that's a no, I guess." I said as I walked down the stairs of the bookstore while crossing out the name of the bookstore on a piece of paper. I wrote down the names of different bookstores near me so I know where I have been and where I haven't been. And right now, I already went to 6 bookstores, with this one being the 6th, and still no luck, they all turned me down.

You may be wondering why I am so desperate on finding a job, well, desperate is not the right term. I'm just looking for things to help me pass the time in my summer vacation, and what better thing to do than having a job? You're both spending time doing something, not getting bored, and at the same time you are earning money, it's a win-win situation.

Oh, where are my manners? Hi! I'm Blueth! Blueth Mendoza! And no, that is not a short term for Bluetooth. My parents gave me the name Blueth because they say that it blueth means the state of being blue. I don't know why they gave me that name and I don't know what is the meaning of the name Blueth. My parents just say that it sounds cool and cute so they gave me that name.

Well, anyway, that's the end of my introduction, let's get back to the story!

I let out a sigh as I sat down on the stairs of the bookstore. Thinking which of the last few bookstores I should go to next. As I looked at the piece of paper with the names of the bookstores, I noticed something fly by my face. I looked around and I saw it lying on the ground in an alley. It was a piece of paper with something written on it.

I walked towards it and picked it up, it was a calling card of some sort. An invitation? Maybe?

'Proofreading Services' Is what's written on it, it had an address and everything.

Is this a sign that I am being led into joining a mystical and magical proofreading company? I'm starting to imagine things, like me being guided to this proofreading company, I'm imagining that I have magical powers and only I can save the company from magical creatures and stuff! Oh, a girl can only dream. But we know that that can't happen, right?

"Well, nothing wrong in finding out, right? Besides, what's the worst that could happen?" I said as I placed the card inside my sling bag and started walking towards the address which was written on the card. Nothing wrong in finding out, right?
