Vacation day

The examinations were finally over. It ended on Friday and the entertainment program was scheduled the next day. All the students were asked to clean the assembly hall where the program will be held. They swept inside the hall and around it. Then swept all around the compound, neatly. When they were done, they all went back to their dorms to prepare themselves for the program.

"I can't wait for today's program. Do you think Kevin is going to come? Akua asked Nadia.

"I am sure he will be there. But this time, it won't be because of me," she replied, sadly.

"Nadia, I think it's high time you forgot about Kevin. He does not care about you." Naa Shika said.

"Never. I won't do that. Kevin is mine and mine alone. I am only allowing that girl to have him for the time being. But, I know very soon, he will get tired of her." Nadia smirked to herself. Akua and Naa just stared at each other, then back at Nadia, who still had a smile on her face.

"My cousin is not like that. He is very passionate about everything he does. And when he wants something, he goes all out to get it. So I doubt very much that, what you are saying will ever happen," Naa Shika replied.

"Do you want to bet on it? We will all be here. And we will see how things turn out. Then, I will have the last laugh." Nadia took her towel and walked out.

Meanwhile, Chantel and her friends were also preparing for the program. It's been a month since Chantel last saw Kevin. So, she was looking forward to finally meet him at the party. She, Adiepena and Chantel had gone down earlier to help with the cleaning. They all looked tired and unkempt, so they took a quick shower before the rest of the girls rushed into the bathroom.

They all put on their uniforms, and went downstairs after they were done. Chantel began to look around, when they got inside the hall and found a place to sit. Other students were already there as well and other students from different schools had arrived. Those students sat together in a corner, chatting with each other.

"You are looking for Kevin, right?" Cynthia asked.

Chantel turned towards her friends and smiled shyly. "I just thought he might be here. I guess he is going to be late."

"The program has not started yet. I am sure he is on his way here. Just stop looking around like that, it's a bit embarrassing," Cynthia said again.

"Oh come on, Cynthia. You don't need to be blunt all the time. What's wrong with her looking for Kevin? Those two have gotten closer already. It's natural for her to behave like that," Adiepena added.

Then they saw him. Kevin was entering the hall with three other boys. He saw the girls, and walked towards them with a smile on his face.

"Hello," he greeted them.

"Hi," they all responded. Chantel smiled shyly at him.

"Can I speak with you for a while, please? Can you girls please borrow me your friend, for a while?" he said to Chantel and the girls.

"Sure. Have fun," Cynthia said and walked away dragging a confused Adiepena with her.

"Who is he?" Adiepena asked, when they were far from Chantel and Kevin.

"That's Kevin, Chantel's boyfriend," Cynthia whispered.

"The Kevin? The one Nadia has been fighting with her for? That's the Kevin?" Adiepena asked.

"Yes, that's the one and only," Cynthia replied looking a bit annoyed.

"I now get why Chantel's is head over heels for him. He is handsome though," Adiepena admitted.

"Well, he is. Anyway, that's not the issue. I just hope he does not hurt her, because if he does, I will beat him to a pulp."

"Eii, Cynthia. You and fighting? You better stop that before you end up in trouble." Adiepena mocked and Cynthia just rolled her eyes.

Kevin and Chantel sat down and started talking. "You look good."

"Thank you, Kevin. You look good too."

"Oh, come on. I have grown skinny. I have been studying for the exam so it has made me grown lean. But, thank God it's all over now."

"Yes, thank God it is over."

"I thought the program would have started before I came. Seems I'm early."

"Yes, you are. I saw you come in with a group of boys. Are they your friends?" Chantel looked over at the entrance, where the other boys stood, talking with some girls.

"Yeah, that's my friend, Bismarck. And that's Leonard and Blankson." he pointed to each boy.

"Will you like to go meet them?" he asked her.

"No, maybe later. So, will you like to sit with me? The program will soon start. Or, you would rather be with your friends?"

"No, I would rather want to stay with you. Can we go somewhere private for a while. I just want it to be just you and me. What do you say?" he winked at her and licked his lower lip.

Chantel kept looking at his lips as he licked them. She nodded at him and they both walked out through the back door. They walked till they got to the tree where they normally meet, and stood under the tree.

"I missed you so much, Chantel. I was praying for the exam to end early so that I can see you again." He then hugged her.

"I missed you too. Very much," she said, as she pressed her face into the crook of his neck.

"I love you very much, Chantel.

"I love you too."

Before both of them realised it, they were leaning in to each other. Then, they kissed. Chantel suddenly felt lighthearted. Her first kiss. And it was happening right in the middle of the school and she could not even stop it. She was actually enjoying it. Kevin held her close and deepened the kiss. They finally had to break the kiss after they had the need to breath in some air.

"Wow, that... That was amazing." Chantel said, looking dazed.

"I know. And I really wish I can do it again."

Chantel beat his chest playfully. "Come on. We are in the middle of the school. I really wish we can but we have to go back. I want to see how everything goes at the program."

"Can't we stay here for a while? I really want to spend time with you. I don't want to let you out of my sight." he held her close.

"We will spend time with each other. But, for now, let's go back. I don't want to miss anything," she dragged him along with her as they headed back to the hall with both of them laughing their hearts out.
