Childhood Friendship

Some love stories are created by separation not union. They don't end in death, that's where they begin. The kind of love that can't be limited by nature. It won't obey the decrees of fate. It is filled with unlimited joy, there is unmeasurable sorrow as well. There is separation, there is destiny which keeps them apart. There is the universe too, which is dedicated to bringing them together in some way.

Mike and Mahi's love story is like that ...

It began when they were kids. Innocent childhood. Their childhood friendship was unaware of the fact that their love would become exemplary some day. Their love is connected to each other in such a way that no matter where they go or live or no matter what kind of trouble they get into, they will always be drawn to each other.

That's what their love is like ...

The world didn't create it. The universe did that. It was created with the promise that they will go beyond life and death to make it come true. They will fight the universe for the sake of that promise.

"MIKE!" Mahi yells while running back of him.

"Come on! Catch me! Come along! Come along, Mike. Take the ribbon!" Mike responds.

Mike, give me back my ribbon! She continues running back of him.

"Come on, hurry! I am here! Don't you want the ribbon?" Mike says while climbing a tree.

Unfortunately Mike's hand slip from the tree

"Mike!" Mahi yells.

Mike was about to fall but with the help of that blue ribbon he was hanging on the tree.

"Mike, I am coming to you, don't let go" Mahi said and runs to Mike.

"Ahhh!" Mike yells

Mike's hand slips and he fell down.

"Mike, watch out" Mahi said and goes towards him. Mike stands up and begin to run again.

"You lost! I won!" Mahi said in excitement when she picked the blue ribbon from the ground which was dropped by Mike when he fell down from the tree.

Mahi sticks her tongue out and teases him. Mahi runs and Mike follows her back.

Mike - I won't let you get away with this!

Mahi - Lets see if you can catch me!

After a while,

Mahi - Let's stop playing now, mom must be waiting for us! Love story must have started, let's go.

Mike - let's go.

Mahi and Mike runs to the hall and goes to their mom and sit beside them. While watching the show,

Mahi - Mom, what they are talking about.

Mom - its about love!

Mahi - Mom, what's love?

Mom - Love is life! It's a bond between two hearts.

When two people can't live without each other, that's love.

Mahi - Does everyone fall in love like that?

Mom - Everyone is meant to be with someone, and when that person comes along, we get a sign! You know, it's the one that God choose for you. True love will be with you for eternity. Do you know something Mahi, love is the best gift that God gives one. It's as pure as a person's passion. A love that prays to be with the beloved, till the end of time.

Mahi turns back to Mike and smiles, she turns to her mom again and says

Mahi - its like friendship, right?

Mom - Slightly deeper than that. It brings two souls together.

After watching the last scene of the story

Mahi - Mom, Will they love each other in their next life too?

Mom - Yes, True love can't be stopped by anyone. If he is meant for you he will tear through the cliffs to be with you.

Mahi : Mom, how do we know when we are in love with someone?

Mom - People pray for their own happiness, but when you fall in love you pray for your loved one's happiness. It does not matter if you share in that joy or not. Do you understand, my dear?

Mahi nods.

After when the curtains fall down of the show.

Mike - Mom, what is love? Is it true, what they were talking about love?

Mike's mom take him out of the hall and make him here the conversation of the actor who played in the drama.

Actor - One has to pretend to be in love for the play.

Mom - See! there people are actors, and that was a stage. It was a drama. They talked a storm about love that does not exist in this world. There is nothing like love!

While going back to home,

"Mom said correct that live does not exist" Mike says in his mind. On the other hand, "Mom, said correct that love exists" Mahi says in her mind.

Mahi and Mike's are family friends. Tonight their family gathered together to spend some time. Mike's mom finds a letter from Mike's dad pocket for which they was having a fight.

Mike's mom - Why didn't you say about me about the letter which came from your brother? We will be going to America, she says in excitement.

Mike's dad - That's why I didn't said you. We will not be going to America.

Mike's mom - Why?

Mike's dad - I don't want to leave this place and my best friend.

They continued arguing ...

While everyone was busy on their work they found Mahi and Mike us missing so they went to find them.

Mike Pov

While playing here and there, my eye caught a cute white rabbit running so I followed it.

Mahi Pov

While helping my parents in serving, I heard Mike's voice was yelling for help so I ran to find him.

When I found Mike I saw him hanging from a cliff. I ran to him and gave him my hand but the distance was long so he couldn't hold it. I took my scarf away from me and threw it down to him by holding it's one edge.

Mike Pov

I hold the scarf which Mahi threw down and climbed up by holding it.

"Don't let go Mahi" Parents yelled from far distance.

Mahi Pov

Our parents arrived and helped me to pull Mike up. When he came up, our parents took us to our home. My mom did my first aid cause my hand was bleeding while saving Mike.

Next morning, the two families meet again. All the kids go to play while the parents talk to each other.

Mahi's dad - hello!

Mike's dad - Hello!

Mahi's dad - Anything urgent? Why did you call us here in the early morning?

Mike's dad - I wanna ask you something from you?

Mahi's dad - Yes, go ahead ...

Mike's dad - I want your daughter for my son in marriage

Mahi's family look shock to this proposal.

Mike's dad - what happened? Aren't you happy with this proposal?

Few moments later, the silence breaks when Mahi's dad laughs out loud.

Mahi's dad - Dear friend, no proposal is better than this! Listen to me, your wife, came in the morning for this alliance.

Mike's dad - My wife? he murmured.

Mahi's dad - I accept this proposal but there is a condition.

Mike's dad - Condition? What condition?

Mahi's dad - You will have to go to America.

Mahi and Mike's parents make Mike and Mike's engagement and ties them in future relationship.

Mike pulls Mahi's hair

Mahi - Ouch!

Mahi slightly hit Mike on his shoulder.

Mike - What are you doing?

Mahi - You can pull my hair. I will teach you a lesson in catch catch. You won't be able to catch me. I will win.

Mike - You will never be able to defeat me. I will run so fast you will not be able to catch me.

Mahi - We will see!

Mike - okay!

At night, Mike and Mahi sit together and enjoy the view of moonshine and spend some time together. While looking here and there Mike sees a fire fly and the silence breaks between them

Mike - Hey! you like fire flies right?

Mahi nods.

Mike catches the fire fly and put it under Mahi's scarf and make her grab it tight so that it doesn't fly away. Mahi sees the fire fly for a moment and then releases it.

Mike - What did you do? You like fire flies right? Then why did you release it?

Mahi - Mom says the one whom you love do not hold them. We will ne selfish if we hold it. True love is beyond all selfishness. I love fire flies that's why I set it free. Its happiness lies in flying and I am happy with it.

Mike - You know, sometimes I fail to understand you.

Mahi smiles at Mike and look back to the moon.

Mike - Do you what happened earlier?

Mahi - Mom says it was our engagement! Now you can only marry me and no one else!

Mike - Don't you know, these are all dramas!

Mahi - what do you mean?

Mike - I mean, the drama like Romeo and Juliet or the way you play the wedding of those dolls, something like this happened to us too. I didn't understand anything, did you?

Mike stands up so Mahi did too.

Mahi - Yes, I did. Mom told me we are one.When you will grow up and when you will meet me in the future, you will recognize it's me.

Mike - How?

Mahi - You know, who is that watches us everywhere?

Mike - Who?

Mahi - Sun in the day and moon in the night. You know from the sky till the ground this world is very big. in this big world where we go? what we do? no one can see it, can anyone see it?

Mike - No!

Mahi - But he can see. When next time you will met me then the shine of this moonlight will come in your eyes in such a way that you will recognize its means this moon will tell me that its you. He knows everything, he will keep an eye on us when we will not see each other. So whenever you will watch the moon you will miss me and I will miss you.

Mike - But in America the moon will rise in some other time.

Mahi - Yes! they we both can say the stories ar different times.

Mike - Actually I was thinking when I will go to America? When we will take a big car and a big house? You tell me, what will you do?

Mahi - I will pray to God that you take a big car and a big house.

Mike - Why? You don't want anything?

Mahi - I want!

Mike - What?

Mahi - You please come back.

Mike - You have gone crazy. My mom tells me boys should not think about this. If we staer thinking about someone then that person becomes weak.

Mahi - My mom tells me, when you become weak a human helps another human. If you fall, someone should be there to take care of you. Understood?

"Mike, come here" Mike's mom yells.

"Yes coming mom" Mike responds.

Mike's mom - Come here fast

Mike - okay I will go now. Good night!

Mahi - Good night!

Mike Pov

I walk towards my mom. I turn back to Mahi. Mahi bids me goodbye and I respond to her and continue to walk towards my mom.

"Mom say something else. Mahi say something else. Whom should I agree to?" Mike murmur to himself.

Next morning, everyone comes to do farewell for Mike's family.

Mahi Pov

I search for Mike here and there with a box in my hand. I finally found him, standing near a black car. I run towards him and hand him the box.

Mahi - Here, take all my toys, you always snatched from me, please take it all today.

Mike receives the box.

Mahi - Whenever I will miss you, I will see the moon. If you miss me, then you also see the moon.

Mike's family sit on the car and began their journey. Mahi kept on looking on the car until it was about to disappear. Mahi saw that Mike was trying to give her something so she ran back of the car.

When she reached the parallel height of the car, Mike gave her a necklace and she took it. Mahi and Mike looked at each other and bided till they disappeared from each other's sight.

And since then 15 years passed away. Mahi just kept waiting in her country. Mike went abroad. This is not the end of the story, it was half way through. This story will start from the beginning once again after 15 years. Because they will meet once again to fulfill their promise.
