Chapter 24

Chaahat stared at the mail she typed for a few seconds before pressing the send key.

It is done.

After thinking over it for the last two days, she finally did it.

It is for the best, Chaahat. She told herself.

She shut down her laptop and let out a relieved sigh.

Her phone rang. She looked at the caller ID and saw that it was Uncle Madan.

“Hello Uncle, how are you?” Chaahat asked, as soon as she picked up the call.

“Much much better, Chaahat. It has been a worry for a while, the way you closed yourself off from the world. Now I can sleep peacefully at night with the satisfaction that I gave you to someone who will look after you well” Uncle Madan said and regret filled me.

How will he react when he realises that the marriage is only temporary. He will be heartbroken. He will feel betrayed. He might even regret ever taking up my responsibility.

“You are happy, right?” Uncle Madan asked and his uncertainty was evident in his voice.
