10 Overnight Again?

Oh crap, I just left to get some coffee, and now it's nighttime? My supervisor is going to murder me! *click click* Why isn't the rewind button working? *click click* Did I use it all for today?

I should just improvise the rest from here; if the big man upstairs discovers I didn't describe the afternoon, I'm gone!

Uhm... Okay, we'll start in three... two... one...

The moon is full and bright, stars twinkle in the night sky, and look at this: Susumu is fast asleep on the desk, his head resting on his forearms, a dark blue blanket covers him, and the monitor in front of him displays a notepad with long lines of code, indicating that Ayano's tutoring was effective.

Ayano, on the other hand, is sleeping in her bed, wrapped in a dark green blanket she found in the cabinet, she is shaped like a sushi roll.

Susumu's phone vibrates and turns on as a result of a random notice; beneath that notification are messages from a chat he had with his mother:

(- Mom: so you're not having dinner here? -)

(- Me: well, I might have to spend another night -)

(- Mom: anyway, remember to be careful and to take a bath before going to bed, okay? -)

(- Me: sure, I understand -)

(- Mom: excellent, Susumu-kun, I'll see you tomorrow!!! -)

(- Me: I'll see you tomorrow, Mom -)

His screen goes dark before I can read the rest of the discussion, which I think concludes with an "I love you," exchange between son and mother.

He groggily fumbles for his phone and slowly opens one of his eyelids, his anthracite eye scanning the objects in front of him, a pile of papers, and a few energy cans.

He slowly but steadily lifts himself from the desk, rubbing his closed eye and staring at the monitor in front of him. After appreciating his work, he swings the chair around and stares at Ayano, who is sleeping comfortably.

...Let me utilize this one nice phrase I found in my dictionary... he starts cerebrating, <She clearly went to sleep after me since I hogged her computer,> he quietly giggles to himself as he gets out of the chair, it's still really dark— pitch black dark, if you know what I mean.

He carefully wanders around the room, which I can do well because I can see in the dark, being an individual on a separate plane of reality and all, but this is pretty tough for a simple ordinary human.

He slides his palm on the desk next to him, muttering, "Where is it...?" He feels his phone and snatches it, then hits the power button and switches on the flashlight, and steps out into the living room to assess his surroundings.

"Toilet..." he murmurs to himself as he drags himself to the bathroom, stopping halfway and mumbling, "Wait... it was only a false urge..."

Seemingly being sleep deprived, he steps into the bathroom with the bathtub in it, turns on the bathtub, and walks back into the laundry room; he removes his grey sweatshirt and black jeans and re-enters the bathroom... Susumu enjoys going back and forth, am I right?

He turns off the water and jumps into the bathtub, muttering to himself while staring at the ceiling, "Why does it feel like I'm the only one who uses the bathtub..."

He exhales deeply and shuts his eyes, beginning to fall asleep— *desk slam* what!? I can't narrate anything since he's started sleeping in the water!

...If I recall correctly, I can travel farther away as long as I'm within 10 meters of my designated narration objective; I haven't done this yet, but I'll do my best... But who should I tell the story to— oh, wait.

Why don't I enlighten people about Ayano's life for a while?

Ayano is snoring in her bed, looking quite cozy in her green blanket, how adorable!

The alarm clock on the nightstand reads '3:30 AM.' If I recall rightly, her alarm goes off at 4:05 A.M. on weekends; she presumably loves to start the day early so she can get to work right away.

Ayano yawns quietly as she turns around in her bed after what appears to be nineteen minutes. She is now facing the wall, pushing herself up with both arms, and massaging her eyes with her right hand while her left hand supports her entire weight.

So she's the type of person that wakes up before the ala— my inner monologue is cut short by the alarm sounding, as I was saying... Ayano is the type of person who sleeps in till her alarm goes off. She looks to her alarm and crawls to it, smacking the top of it to turn it off.

She sets her hand on the edge of the bed, putting all of her weight on that hand, which slides off the bed and makes contact with the carpet on the floor, causing a loud thud to be heard throughout the room.

She pushes herself out of bed, and she— Achoo!

When did I start sneezing? *sniff* Susumu may have caught a cold from sleeping in the shower... Why do the narrators usually have the same ailments as the people we're narrating... This is terrible!

I believe I'll just— *sniff* keep on with this.

Ayano extends her back and rubs her temple, "Ow..." She glances at her desk and doesn't see Susumu there, so she walks out of her room and turns on the living room lights, <Huh? Where'd he go?>

She observes the bathroom lights are turned on, walks past the laundry room, and knocks on the glass door while calling out to Susumu, "Ishibashi-san? What are you doing in there?"

He doesn't respond because he is currently sleeping. Ayano pauses for a minute as she waits for him to respond; after what appears to be ten seconds, she receives no response— Achoo..!

This sneeze is going to be so irritating... Should I just consult with my junior narrator?

Heyyyyy, you!

Can you come over here and take over? I need to get some rest today, so just do what I taught you and you'll be great.

Okay, best of luck... Don't worry, I'll be taking my medication.

Uhm... Is this thing working? Oh— hi, hello!

Who is this girl standing in front of a glass door...? Her name is Shinsato Ayano, correct? We see Ayano... Wait, didn't Senpai explain this before calling me?

if I recall correctly, Senpai keeps a notepad here in which he notes everything that transpired before the current circumstance...

Hmm... I'll just go over it and see what I can accomplish from there... Susumu Ishibashi, seventeen years old, five feet seven inches tall... No, that's not the right page...

...Susumu spent another night in Ayano's place, this time, to learn how to code...

Okay, I suppose that's enough reading for today; I should certainly thank Senpai when he returns...

"He's probably sleeping in the bathtub," Ayano says as she comes out of the bathroom, "I shouldn't disturb him, he must be terribly stressed from my tutoring yesterday."

Sho—should I share my thoughts?

...In truth, Susumu was simply... sleep-deprived? Y—yeah, he was simply sleep-deprived and unable to think clearly, so he entered the bathtub and fell asleep.

It's difficult to do a live narrative... How does Senpai manage to do all of this without faltering over his own words? I've only ever narrated audiobooks...

Ayano enters into the living room and sits on the green, comfortable sofa; her body slips into the sofa as she turns on the TV using the remote on the coffee table.

Ayano redirects her attention to the television, where she is currently watching lovely puppies and cats...

Those are some lovely puppies... That cat is just lovely!! —Ah! How embarrassing, hehe... I was swept in by the cuteness...

Ayano is giggling to herself and appears to be... Her face was tinged with scarlet. The moon is still far up in the sky, joined by the stars— an off-topic tangent, but I've always loved stargazing since I was a child.

I guess I should check in on Susumu... Is it unusual or normal for a female narrator to check on a boy in the restroom? Senpai does it, so maybe I can too...

Susumu is in the bathtub, his eyelids slowly opening as the shower head above him begins to drip water. He slowly straightens his back and examines his hands, which are highly pruned.

He sighs deeply as he steps out of the bathtub, drains the water, and begins cleaning his body with a white towel he grabbed off the rack. He wraps the towel around his waist before sliding the glass door open.

He enters the wash room and looks at his change of clothes, then grabs his boxer shorts and puts them on after donning his genitalia blockers— pfft, genitalia blockers...

He puts on his grey sweatshirt and black jeans, then folds the towel and places it on top of the washing machine, sneezes, shakes his head, and says, "Crap... I appear to have gotten a cold..."

He steps out, scratches the bottom of his nose, and realizes the lights are turned on; he glances to the sofa and sees Ayano giggling while watching charming pet videos... I still can't get over how adorable they are...

Susumu calls out to her in a nasally voice, "Good evening, Shinsato-san," and Ayano stiffens as she immediately turns off the television after hearing his voice, as though she doesn't want other people to see her viewing beautiful pet videos...

I'm in the same boat as you, Ayano...

Ayano slowly turns around, a scarlet tinge extending across her cheeks and up to her ears, her lips quivering as she whispers, "D—did you see that?"

Susumu squints his eyes, and two humanoid figures mount atop his shoulders, one of which resembles him but wears a white robe and has a halo floating above his head, possibly one of those angel people!

The other person on his other shoulder is another lookalike, but instead of a white robe like the angel, it is dressed in what appears to be a business jacket and glasses; is this meant to be the devil? This is strange...

"You should tell the truth, lying will merely lead you nowhere, you know," the angel says in a high-pitched voice.

The suited guy pushes up their glasses and adds in a deep voice, "You wouldn't want to harm one of your best friend's feelings, huh? Just do the right thing and lie, nobody gets hurt in the end," Susumu nods.

"I didn't see anything, I promise," Susumu remarked with a blank gaze and still nasally voice, the angel on his shoulder stunned; the dude in the business jacket, meanwhile, looks dissatisfied and says, "Not like that..."

The two figures then fade away, most likely back into his thoughts. "I'll simply assume you're telling the truth..." Ayano pouts as she turns away to face the now-turned-off TV.
