12 Chapter 12 - Parting with friends

When the ship took off, Sianna went into the control room and saw that they were not flying into space, but continued to fly at the planetary level "Where are we flying?"

Gordon, continuing to control the ship, replied, "To the military base. There, the government has set up a transit point for refugees. Excuse me, but I'm not a galactic taxi, I only vouch for the rescue of those 3, but if you need, I can take you to the place you need"

Sianna shook her head. "No need. I still have things to do with them."

There was an awkward silence that lasted for several minutes. For Gordon, this silence became unbearable "Can you tell me about your colleagues?"

Sianna nodded. "The girl with purple hair is Margaret Dering, there was another girl with us but….she didn't escape, her name was Diana. They are both known for their knowledge of cybernation, prosthetics and mechanical engineering."

"The black man is Tobias Lane. He has his own small company that manufactures various ballistic weapons, but mostly rifles, pistols, etc., although I heard that he also recently started designing missile weapons for the planetary forces."

"The bespectacled man's name is Xander Graves, he is a famous biologist and genetic engineer. His knowledge in this area can even be compared with the specialists of our race. Too bad his self-centeredness has led to various controversies, which is why most human states consider him a criminal."

Gordon grinned "Interesting acquaintances you have"

"Indeed, they are probably the few people I'm interested in talking to, especially Xander. You have no idea how many ideas are in his head. As soon as we get out of here, I should invite him to my lab." Sianna replied

Gordon was surprised "Your laboratory? When did you manage to get a laboratory?"

Although everything is not so calm on the planets of this corporation as in other states, money can solve many problems there, including problems with the laboratory"

Gordon opened a galactic map, after which he began to look for this very corporation. A few lifeless planets and even fewer planets with suitable life conditions. This corporation is even smaller in size than the Republic, although Nozu is located on the explored border, so they have more potential to grow their territory.

After counting the distance from Nozu to the Hens Republic, Gordon whistled "Wow, you flew through the borders of two space states, was it worth the expense?"

Sianna nodded. "I was doing some research in my lab, but I lost my inspiration, so I figured coming here, talking to other scientists, and studying the artifacts would help me get out of the slump. Along with research, I provide medical services for the Corporation's mercenaries, so I didn't worry about the cost."

Stanfield raised his eyebrow. "What artifacts made you and the others come here?"

Sianna, as if a professional guide, began to tell, "The Republic of Hens found a huge structure in one of the asteroids while mining. After examining this structure, it was concluded that this place must be some kind of temple."

"We also heard that the hotel is getting very noisy, which means that the infected also made their way inside, so we decided to go to a safer place. Good thing Tobias had prototype guns and ammo with him."

"Hiding in the library, we began to wait until the situation in the city calmed down a bit, after which we began to look for a ship on which we could fly away, but it was too late. Most of the ships flew away, and those that remained demanded what we could not give them."

Sianna sighed heavily.

Gordon tried to console Sianna "Well, the main thing is that you survived, you shouldn't think about the bad." After a short pause, he added, "How did you meet those 3?"

Sianna replied "It's nothing special, we met them during a food outing. We already met them at a scientific conference, so we invited them to our place and informed them about your ship."

As Sianna and Gordon continued to talk, the [Eclipse] arrived at the military camp, which is located a few kilometers from the planetary capital.

Apparently, there is a military fortress here, where the soldiers were stationed, but due to the outbreak of the virus, it had to be converted into a transit point for refugees.

Several military shuttles take off from here and head to the Cities to return the population to this base, after which these people are distributed to the barracks, waiting for the transport that will finally take them out of this hell.

Security measures are easier here than in space. The military did not take blood from Gordon and others, but only checked them for scratches, bites and other things.

For his own safety, Gordon did not dare to take off his suit, so he politely declined to be examined.

Instead, he decided to visit the capital. He has a great opportunity to get points, he would be a fool if he refused.

Tobias was the first to leave his ship, but before that, he took out a crumpled black business card with a cartridge emblem and the signature LANE "Here is my card, add me to your contacts. If you ever need a weapon, write to me, I will give you a 5% discount"

As Sianna turned around and headed for the exit, Gordon suddenly remembered something, "Wait, I forgot to give you one thing. Still, it's quite a lot of me to take 700,000 loans from you."

Gordon quickly ran to his cabin, after which he returned to Sianna. "Here you are. This is one of the modified PDA prototypes. While it still doesn't have most of the features I envisioned, the core functionality still makes life easier."

He held out a white bracer with a dark screen in the center. Sianna was slightly surprised, "Have you made a prototype yet?"

Gordon nodded "Yes, this is the Stanfield Ltd Mark 3 PDA. It has the following basic functions - access to the galactic network, map and gps, mail and comlink."

Sianna took the PDA and put it on her hand. Examining her hand from all sides, she asked, "Are you not afraid that I will sell this thing to someone?"

Stanfield smirked. "First, you'll have to find at least one company that will believe you that you or some mercenary has developed something that many have failed to do for many years. And then they will face the built-in protection against hacking. So please do not try to open the operation panel, otherwise the PDA and all its contents will be destroyed"

Sianna nodded and Gordon began to explain to her the control and capabilities of the PDA. "It's nothing complicated, it's the same as a regular terminal. So far, only the security system in the form of a password is installed here, but later I will refine the security system"

Sianna pressed the PDA start button and the dark screen lit up. She saw a lot of green text running around the screen, after which the text disappeared and an emblem appeared in the form of 6 purple hooks arranged in a circle, clockwise, next to this circle is the inscription [Nigma] "Nigma ? Why not Stanfield?

Gordon patted the back of his helmet in embarrassment.

After all that was said, Sianna said "I will definitely keep an eye on your company, may you be lucky." Saying goodbye to Gordon, Sianna left the ship and headed towards her friends, continuing to understand all the functions of the PDA along the way.

Taking off, Gordon directed his ship towards the planetary capital, checking on the map for the presence of any scientific and industrial enterprises. Although there are few such enterprises on this planet, they stand out well from others.

Therefore, it was not difficult for him to find the structure of one of the giants in the production of medical equipment. Since receiving the system, Gordon has received quite a few models of various weapons, ships, and small mechanical equipment.
