Chapter 13: The Team
A few months have passed since the funding for the expedition was received by the institute and Nathan Bauer had agreed to fund the project. The institute was still negotiating the permits with the government of Mauritania, but that would be concluded soon.
As agreed upon from the beginning, Professor Thelete would be given institutional support and a team was already in place. The Professor would need to select a primary assistant to work directly underneath him and he would need to select the heads of various disciplines and sub-disciplines.
One of things that would also have to be decided upon is how armed the group would need to be. While they would work in a remote area of the country, the country as a whole is unstable and not particularly safe. It has had many coups and military take overs since it became independent in 1960.
