Recollections, and Peculiar Faces

I could feel her breath brushing against my neck, her tone was sinister, yet soothing. It's weird, I could almost feel her intentions just by her breath. And there was no malice in them.

"James Myer..." She repeated

She kept repeating my name, over and over again. Until she suddenly stopped repeating.

I was confused, I thought to myself... Why did she stop repeating?

In the end, my curiosity won, and I finally looked back. There, I saw her. She was crying again in a fetal position, wrapping her arms around her knees while also sinking her head in between.

I sighed to myself again, I was still shaken up from fear. But deep inside me, I also felt a small tinge of concern for the girl. I looked down at the ground, thinking about what I should do next.

A part of me wants to help her, but her distorted face just... Creeps me out a lot, for real though.

I sighed, before glancing back at her. "This kid has an addiction to crying, it's getting annoying at this point."

"Hey, kid..." I said with a tone of concern, and worry. Slowly approaching the child and patting her shoulder in an assuring way. Although I was afraid, I'm not the type of guy who would let a kid cry like that.

The girl stopped crying and slowly turned back to me with tears still in her distorted eyes. I shivered slightly at her eyes, but I didn't let my fear consume me.

"What's wrong?"

"James... Myers..." She said.

I looked at her with my gaze softened, but behind that softened gaze was an annoyed expression. Does this kid even know any other words besides my name!? I thought to myself.

"Yes, I am James Myers... Who are you?" I asked the girl, confused and annoyed. But I didn't let the annoyance out.

"Y-You... Don't remember me?" The girl asked, she was devastated by my question. Her tears started to pour out again, sinking her face between her knees once more as soft whimpers escaped from her voice

"Huh?"

"Have we met before?" I was confused, what did she mean by 'Don't remember me?'

The girl cried again, devastated by my response. She turned away from me again, continuing to hug her knees.

I was confused, yet a feeling of familiarity was lingering deep inside my heart.

My mind was being drowned in thoughts, "Who is this girl...?", "Why does everything feel familiar...?". Why, why did I feel like I've seen this place before...

The girl let out a deep exhale before saying in a serious tone, still looking the other way "You... You must leave, this place is not for you, James Myers."

What? Is this girl spewing bulls*** or something? I didn't even want to be here.

"Huh? Wha-"

Before I could say anything, my vision turned black. And I woke up again.

I sighed, letting out a massive breath I was holding back in that dreamscape.

But what could it all mean... What was the meaning of it? Was it just a dream, or was I sent to another reality?

Maybe reality is a bit farfetched.

"I feel dizzy as hell..." I said, sitting up from my bed as I glanced at the clock beside me

I stood up, stretched my body, and went to the shower. In the shower, I can't stop thinking about that girl, the whole area... Why does it all seem familiar?

"Come to think of it... I don't remember anything from my past below 15 years of age."

As I went out of the shower, I saw Paryss peeking like a crazy stalker.

"AH-?!" I fell backward, and even though my head was facing the ceiling I know Paryss was laughing her ass off like a satisfied 12-year-old.

I looked out the window again, but she was no longer there.

I sighed in defeat "Paryss, that madwoman..."

But suddenly, I heard a voice coming from behind "Look who's talking." It was Paryss, she entered my slum.

When I turned around, I saw Paryss. To be fair, I wasn't really surprised about her entering my slum. Because she is called "The Devious Madwoman" after all, almost like me "The Mischievous Fool".

"Will you stop breaking into my slum-like it's a normal robbery?" I asked, in a tone of slight annoyance.

"I don't know what you mean, the door was just open," Paryss answered, snickering slightly at my question.

I looked at my door, and the lock was destroyed. As I realized what happened, I didn't bother to ask her about it. Because I also like to do that while committing my shenanigans.

(sigh) Karma, huh?

Paryss sat down on my bed, she remembered something from yesterday. So she asked me.

"Oh yeah, I just remembered something."

"Hm?"

"Remember yesterday? When you asked me about that weird dream you had? Can you please just tell me about it... I'm getting curious over here!!!" Paryss asked, almost in a childlike manner.

Of course, being the good friend I am, I reluctantly explained to her about my dream.

I stood up and brushed off the dust that was on my body.

"Yeah fine, I'll explain it. Just give me time to put on some clothes first."

Paryss just stared at my body as I put on some clothing. I noticed it, so I turned my back around and said to her.

"Stop staring, will ya?"

Paryss replied, "Oh come on, it's not like we're new friends or something."

Looking at her, I was showing a face of annoyance and slight frustration. I ignored her and continued to put on some clothes.

After putting on some clothes, I sat next to Paryss. Sighing, before finally saying:

"So... My dream, huh? Alright fine. I'll tell you. Speaking of dreams, I had the same one last night."

"Oh?" Said Paryss, clearly intrigued by what I was gonna say. "I think it might not be a coincidence." Paryss giggled slightly.

"I think so too, now let me explain."

I then explained to Paryss about the dreams that I had these past 2 days, Paryss just looked at me intrigued and in slight disbelief. Her mouth slightly pushed upwards, deep in thought.

"Continuity... huh?" Paryss said as she held her chin with her thumb. Thinking about my dream.

"If... That's the case, then in my opinion... That place, the girl, all of them are a part of your past." This was Paryss' conclusion.

"My past...?" I asked her, in slight disbelief.

Well, my past could relate something to this, because I don't remember anything in my life before 15 years old.

"Yes, your past. You said you don't remember anything before 15 years old, right? That might be a recollection or some sort of reconnection from what I've heard." Paryss said in a serious tone. Still looking at me with a narrowed gaze

"Hmm... Well, that might explain why there was a little girl. She looked so familiar too... Behind that distorted face of her." I said afterward, rubbing my chin as I was deep in thought.

"Wait, what do you mean... Reconnection?" I realized

Paryss just looked at me with an unamused expression, her eyes slightly narrowed with a hint of mockery and disapproval for some reason.

"Did you not hear what I said earlier?" Paryss said, in a disappointed tone as she continued to stare at my soul.

"Uh... never mind." I exhaled, not even daring to question her further. Looking away from her gaze, I muttered something inaudible. But it was nothing important anyway.

Moving on from the awkward situation that we both are in, I cleared my throat and spoke with a more confident and grateful tone... Despite her only giving me cryptic insight and not... direct, or straightforward.

"Anyways, let's just hope I will get the same dream again tonight. Thanks for giving me such cryptic insight, Paryss."

"No problemo, just hope that you will find the true connection," Paryss said, honestly I didn't even know what she said at that time. But since she is... uh, what would you call it? Oh right, a dream expert. I thought it'd be best if I trusted her for now.

Seeing Paryss leave, and swiftly fix my door back to normal, I glanced at the clock on my desk. I realized it was already 11:30 AM, and I was panicking.

"Oh HELL NO-" I was late to work.

I rushed to my closet, putting on my work clothes... But wait, if I'm late to work, then why did Paryss visit me?

I looked at my calendar and realized something. "Oh... It's a Saturday." I quickly calmed myself and sat down on my bed.

"Hmm... I think I should go outside."

I stood up from my bed and stretched my arms before walking out of my house.

Moments later, I was at the marketplace, it was... Dirty. I mean, what would you expect? It's in the slums. I looked around the place, left and right. There were a lot of unfamiliar faces... Weird.

"Hmm, who the hell are they?" I muttered quietly.

They didn't have any distinct features or anything that makes them UnOrdinary (reference), but I don't know if it's just me... Or do they look shady as fu-

Erm, anyway... While I was walking down the market, I saw one of the shady unfamiliar people walk into an alleyway.

"Hmm, what's he up to?"

Curious, I followed him until he reached a "dead end".

"Hmm, this is a dead end... What's he gonna do?" I said, hiding behind a wall as I peeked out slightly to see the man.

Suddenly, the man went through the wall. As if it wasn't a real wall in the first place. My eyes widened in shock and my eyebrows raised, clearly not expecting that at all.

"Holy fu**, what the fu**-"
