1 EVERGREEN PARK

*Chu.....*

It's a bright day outside the window, birds are chirping happily as if enjoying their days and living in peace.

As I looked outside, I started to wonder why this life as a human being is so great, What have we gain from this life, In different mythology there are different beliefs as how the first humans beings were created, lets talk about Judeo-Christian there believe and teaching tell them about the first human couple Adam and Eve, who were the first humans ever existed in this world and other beings are originated or given by them. Now if we talk about other mythology there are many who calm the same idea like Hindu mythology there is Manu and same for many.

But if we try to find the answers from a different perspective, let's say we use science then we get a very different answer, they claim humans were the result of the biological evaluation of a bacteria or a single-cell organism named 'LUCA'. Don't get me wrong I am not here to get into a heated battle between science and mythology. That is something that is beyond my imagination, Well even If we see it from my perspective then, I say mythology is our history and science is our future, the most important thing between them is civilization which is our present. Thought without knowing history no one can understand present and without understanding the future no one can understand themselves.

Thought these things about human civilization though sound cool, as we hear them but right now it just seems a waste to me, we humans have put so many restrictions on ourselves that living a life free-willed..... It seems just a pipe dream for many now.

Sometimes when I see these birds flying in the sky, I just want to leave everything behind and spread my imaginary wings and fly away leaving everything behind in the sky with them. Just seeing the whole world with my own eyes and living my life on my terms.

My name is Alice Cross, And currently I am 28, I have a very brilliant mind in my house... Well, that's what my family says, When I was just a small child..... I am 5.6 in height with blonde hair and brown eye color and people call me beautiful too but I wasn't that much interested in these types of things, so I never really cared about them, well back to the topic.

From the moment, I was born in this world till this day, I only wanted one single thing... To be a Detective, I have seen many Detective movies, and countless Detective shows and learned various things about how a Detective's mind works.

I have done my bachelor's degree in criminology, law enforcement, and psychology. From one of the best colleges in the world. Yeah I know that, A 28-year-old girl doing so many things, it feels impossible yeah right? I get that a lot. But it was not that difficult well, on the contrary, I did it very easily.

Right now I am sitting on my chair inside my office, I am a government Detective and right now I am watching outside the window slowly sipping my tea.

Many thoughts were going through my mind but my though my face showed a calm expression not letting anything out.

*Thud....*

"Yooo.. Alice what's up are you free.."

Then suddenly someone bragged in my office and spoke to me with a bright smile on his face.

His name is Nicholas and he is a 30 years old male with a well-built physique and he stands at 5.9 feet giving him good looks. He has a little crush on me, ohh you asked how I know, well he is one of those guys who look something in front of you but is an entirely different person alone. And I have my fair share of experience with guys like him, many have tried to approach me.

"What do you want Nicholas, don't you see I am busy..."

"Well from where I see you don't look that busy to me, you are just having your tea right now and after all, it's not like we are getting any type of cases now a days, Right"

Nicholas always tries to approach me by making some kind of excuse and I always deny his progress towards me.

"Well, I don't care just go away.... I have to work on my reports too and submit it till evening...."

I said to him while waving my hand towards him like a person suing his dog. Seeing that his mouth twitched a little bit as he spoke.

"Why do you always try to stay away from everyone it's not like anyone is here to harm you, I just want to talk to you, that's all..."

"Yeah, and I don't want..."

*Beep.....Beep.....*

Suddenly an alarm came from near my table, and without wasting any second, I picked up the walkie-talkie.

"It's Alice what's the status report....."

I asked with a serious look on my face.

"There has been a shooting case near Evergreen park all units are to be alerted and should be on standby for any action at any time."

Suddenly a commanding voice came from walkie talkie and hearing it, I narrowed my eyes a little bit.

"Why would someone shoot another person in brought daylight and that too..... in a park... That seems suspicious....."

"Yeah you are right we sho..."

"Keep quiet, I didn't ask your useless opinions, Just shut-up and let me think...."

I cut him off midway and Hearing me his mouth twitched a little bit but I didn't care about that.

" Sir do I have the permission to provide my assistants in this case...."

"Give me your information...."

I asked through the walkie and suddenly got the answer from there. That shows how desperate the situation was.

"I am Alice Cross a government Detective, I would like to provide you my assistance...."

"Alice, very well you are Ordered to come on the scene as fast as you can there is commotion here and we are trying to get the people out of the area, a detective could prove very helpful in this situation...."

"Yes sir, I'll head there and report as fast as I can.."

*Tap.....*

Saying that, I stood up grabbed my coat, opened the door and headed out, I didn't even glance at Nicholas who gritted his teeth together in annoyance because he was ignored by me.

I came out of the office and took a sit inside my car and drove of towards Evergreen Park.

*30 minutes later*

As I came outside the park, I parked my car in the parking lot after stopping the engine, I got out of my car and walked towards the crime scene.

"Oh see I never saw someone getting killed in my lifetime..."

"Yeah, it's my first experience too...."

"Yeah yeah..."

There I saw many people close to the crime scene but I didn't care, I have seen these types of low life too much, I know that they don't care about anyone they are just spectators who knows only one thing and that is to pass comments on everyone, heck if someone would be dying in front of them they wouldn't even lift there fingers to help them all they can do is stood there and make videos and reels and post that online to get views. I hate them more than anything even staying close to them makes my body shudder in disgust.

I walked towards the scene ignoring everyone's comments as I walked much closer, I saw a man probably 40 years old wearing gym wear lying on the ground motionless.

"Hey, who are you and where are you going, don't you know people past this area are not allowed..."

"My name is Alice Cross and I am here as the government Detective who is hired in this case, here it's my I'd card..."

I gave my ID card to the guy who looked like a low-ranking officer. Seeing my card he looked at my face and then turned back to check again in card as if he was rechecking whether I was the one who was called or not. I stood there patiently for him to check me properly.

"OK go and here is your card...."

That guy gave me my card back and I walked towards a guy who was standing there out of Everyone he looked like a high-ranking officer to me.

"Hello sir my name is Alice and I was the one who talked with you in the walkie-talkie.."

"Ohh so you are Alice but how did you know it was me that talked with you in walkie...."

"When I came here I saw you talking with the other officer and by how you talked, I was able to deduce that you are the person whom I talked with after all I have a good memory, sir..."

"Ohh that's good it seems you are a very capable detective, well I can't believe you were able to know who I was just by the way talked hahaha..... That's good.."

"It's my pleasure sir....."

I spoke to him with a calm look on my face...

"So officer if it would be ok with you I want to know what happened here...."

"Well well talk less and straight to work I like people like you girl come, I tell you what happened Her.."

The officer and I walked towards the body I examined his body with a serious look on my face, and started to ask questions about the incident.

"So when was the time did you all get the report and when do you think this incident had taken place... What type of bullet was fired on him and did you get any type of lead on this case."

"Well, we didn't get any lead right now we are still asking questions to everyone present here and we got the report about this incident 2 hours ago and our forensic specialist has said that three bullets of 9mm were fired at him. Our team has said that it happened 8 hours ago."

" Hmmmm a 9mm it could be a hand gun it could be Beretta 92FS, Glock 17, Ruger LC9, Wesson M&P Shield, or Sig Sauer P226."

"Hmmm....."

"Was it Glock 17 which was used in the shooting...."

"Well yes but how do you know that it was a Glock 17....."

"Well first thing is that Glock 17 is very easy to hide and is very modern and the only gun that could be easily found in this area, the person who used the gun was not very experienced as they used three bullets on the guy, if it would be an experienced person, he would have gone for head shot straight. And firing a firearm on someone in daylight, I don't think anyone who wants to use three bullets on someone Unless and until that person has seen his face and the killer wants to eliminate the guy but can't do it because the target was running at full speed and hitting a running target would be not that much easy."

As I said my report, the officer and his team looked at me with a surprised gaze. But I continued.

"Does the victim have any enemies who want to kill him...."

"Well he was one of the richest tycoons in the market but we investigated his background and we didn't find anything suspicious..."

"Hmmm....."

After hearing him I looked around and asked the officer.

"Was there recently any bank robbery or something where any type of firearms were used..."

"Well know you mentioned it there was a bank robbery near this place but they didn't take much from there and we have captured two guys from there one is out to run our department is doing an investigation on that case too and we believe that we will find him very soon"

"Well now you have it, I think that Rober was hiding somewhere near her so that he could escape easily but when he tried to run away from her, that guy saw him and tried to run away but was shot by him..."

"But why would a robber try to run at that time... Won't it be dangerous because anyone can find him at day very easily."

" That's what you think, tell me will you suspect someone who is just minding his own business and jogging in a park at day time...."

" If I would have to say he was trying to escape from her without drawing suspicion but somehow his plan got leaked or this guy found out his Identity and tried to inform the police and because of that he

shot him."

"If you don't believe me tell me did you find his phone...."

"Aaa... No, we didn't..."

"See that guy must have tried to call the police and got shot probably the call would have also connected but they took his phone and cut the call because of that police had thought it was a prank call and didn't give much thought to it."

"I believe that guy wouldn't have run much further it seems he was a coward because of that I don't think he would have thought of running away and would be hiding somewhere close probably to some kind of hotel and that to a cheap hotel because many people use a different name to check in there and no one suspects anything to. I say search every hotel in the 5 km radius here you might find your guy there."

Seeing her solve the case so easily not only the officer but even the people who were listening to her report were shocked, how can someone solve any case without even properly looking at the case too.

"Sear... search the whole area I need reports of everyone who has checked in any cheap hotel after the incident near the radius of 5 km from her."

"Right now I don't want to wait anymore."

"Yes sir!!."

The officers nodded and started to get on the work.

*Clap...clap....clap...*

Then I heard someone clapping and coming towards us...

"Hey you can't go in this area is off limits for normal people."

"Hahahah, don't worry officer you ma'am is going to bring me inside of her own free will."

"After all I want to comment on her whole report..... Well, I am very impressed but there are some mistakes, in her report, I would like to highlight...."
