what are you doing, can't you see i just finished sweeping there, said Andorra to her half sister Kani who just dumped orange peels on the floor.

kani: so? sweep again maid

Andorra: I am not your mate or maid Kani, don't treat me that way.

she then swept the peels and went to the kitchen to prepare supper.

Andorra is an educated girl, she studied psychology and has masters degree, she had to come to the village to nurse her sick father and after his father has passed away, things became difficult, her step mother changed, she refused to give her her inheritance so that is how she is home, you got to understand that having a shelter is a big deal in the villages.

The bad treatment wasn't something new to her, she got used to it but some days were just too much. her friend Uli which is the princess in the village would come to visit but the step mother didn't want that, so Andorra had to stop her or sneak her in.

Andorra prayed every chance she got to be rescued out of this situation but only for it to get worse.

Andorra was visited by Uzom whom she thought was just a friend but he had feelings for her and on this day he poured his heart out

Uzom: Andorra you know you don't have to live like this, for someone your class you deserve better man

Andorra: easy for you to say because your rich father is still alive and had not married an evil woman.

Uzom: but you can change the situation

Andorra: you know how I hate how you see this situation being simple, if it was I would not have been this way, next time try walking in my shoes , maybe then you'll know how hard it is

Uzom: no need to get worked up. I came with rather something more serious today, Andorra we can't ignore the spark between forever, please let's give us a chance and see where it leads.

Andorra: I don't have time, I told you this before

Uzom: I'll create time for you, don't worry about that.

Andorra: okay then let's try. don't hurt me Uzom, you will be the only man in my life so please.

Uzom: I have no intention to my love.

the two became a beautiful couple, Andorra was a happy soul, she had new clothes given to her by the princess and her man, even when some were taken away from her but she still had enough to last her a life time. the abuse did not stop, but he amount of love she got was enough to cloud all that.

Princess Uli Odeka was seeing how the two loved each other, at first she thought they would not last since the background differences, but they proved her wrong and now she's jealous, she wanted to come with a master plan to ruin them, she didn't have any at the moment so she just to die inside but smile like she wishes them well.

a few weeks later the princess told her parents to invite the mayor over for lunch, including his son, the chief noticed how his daughter was desperately wanting the son to come.

the invite went through, the two came.

chief: oh thank you so much to honor my invite Mr Mayor, I know you a busy man.

Mr Nnebe: I would not miss the opportunity to sit next to a great man let alone sharing a table with.

chief: yes, no we are both great

the two laughed.

princess Uli: uhm Uzom how about we give the adults some space?

Uzom: sure

they went upstairs

Uzom: couldn't we sit in the sitting room?

Uli: my room is more private for what I want to show you

Uzom: what are you doing?

he said with eyes popped out when he saw Uli undressing

Uli: you deserve better Uzom, not that low life called Andorra

Uzom: Uli the person you refer to as low life is your friend, my lover and we know she's not what you say she is.

he stood up and marched to the door, princess tried to stop hi. but he pushed her aside and walked down stairs.

chief and Odeka were laughing when they saw him they laughed even more

Uzom: father, I would like to be on my way now

Nnebe: we just discussed a very important topic with my chief here, son chief would like for you to become his son in law

Uzom: I noticed, and I'm not interested

he stormed out, his father followed

Nnebe: Uzom are you crazy? Uzom!

he continues going, passed his car and went by the gate with his father running behind him

Nnebe: why are we passing the car, stop son will you

Uzom: I am going to the woman I love, I don't know about you, but since you are here, you might as well just go together

Nnebe: Uzom we need to talk about this girl you're seeing, make me see why you'd choose her over the princess

Uzom: love, i choose love not money.

he walked to a tree he normally meets with Andorra, he sat there all day thought of what had happened, the picture of Uli naked disgusted him and to think his own father is in support of the rubbish, it didn't sit well with him. He swore to himself not to let Andorra know.

princess Uli stopped at nothing to pursue her dream, which is the get married by Uzom, she made her parents believe she and the poor guy have a relationship but he's just not ready for a commitment.

She continued being friends to Andorra it was all just to get information about their relationship, Andorra was suspicious a bit but she thought maybe she was just a caring friend, she gave all the information and Uli got more reason to break them apart.

Uzom went to visit Andorra

Andorra: Uzom why here? you know I'm not supposed to be having visitors here

Uzom: marry me

Andorra: what?

he kneeled down

Uzom: marry me my love, make the happiest man alive

Andorra: what?

she said aloud

Uzom: please Andorra, we can leave this place after we sign at the home affairs

Andorra: I knew you were crazy, oh I knew something was not right in your head

they were still talking when the evil step mother appeared and Uzom had to run out.

Okonkwo: what was he here for?

Andorra: she, I mean he, came

Okonkwo: speak!

Andorra: the mayor wants to see us

Okonkwo: what for, what did you do you good for nothing girl?

she ignored her and went inside to dress up pretending to go to the mayor's house, she then headed to the palace

Uli: what a nice surprise

Andorra: my mother has started, so I came here to avoid her

Uli: okay let's go to my room

they got in but Uli went out, she took her father's sacred staff, gave it to one of the palace guards to take it the evil step mother to hide it where it will be found when they want it but not where Andorra will notice, she's paying her a lot of money she won't refuse. she then went back to her friend.

Uli: Here

she offered her a drink

Andorra: thanks, you're such a good friend, you have never for once judged me, you know one of the reasons I came here it to tell you that Uzom proposed

Uli choked on her drink

Uli: uhm my friend don't you think that was stupid of him?

Andorra: right? that's what I told him, I want to first get out of the situation before I can settle down.

Uli: my point exactly, he's stupid

the girls had a session then later Andorra left, after a few days the palace guards came to search the house for the sacred staff and they found it, they took Andorra to the palace, the community was there waiting for the thief that stole from their king, Uzom was surprised to see the thief being Andorra

chief: Andorra I took you in as nothing as you are, treated you like my own but you still have the nerve to steal from me, why?

Andorra: I swear on my parents graves, I never stole a thing, what will I do with the staff?

she responded crying

chief: then why was my sacred staff found in your room?

Andorra: I don't knowwww

she said, heartbreakingly crying

Uzom: chief there must be a misunderstanding, she's not capable of stealing, we've known her for too long right Uli?

Uli: I'm disappointed in you Andorra, you came here pretending to need a shoulder but you knew your motive.

Andorra: I didn't do it i swear

she begged but no mercy was given, she was bunished from the village, they left her in the forest.

while Andorra was wondering in the forest not knowing where to go, what to eat and if she's safe, life for Uli became a mess that she created with her own hands.

Uli and Uzom slept together, but Uzom told Uli it was because he was lonely not because he loved her, so Uli blackmailed Uzom into marrying her or she'll tell her parents that he raped her, the two families were preparing for a huge wedding, everything concerning the preparation ran smoothly until the day of the wedding.

Uli has sent her guards to give Andorra's step mother and sisters clothes to wear for the wedding.

the crowd was shading the sun, music on blast, food galore, but love wasn't there, Uli knew she was forcing things, but she hoped it works out today. she danced around then kneeled infront of her father, he gave her a wine to give to a man she claims is marrying her, its tradition. she gave the wine to Uzom, he took it and stood up, he was supposed to take his wife's hand, but he stood to take a microphone and said these words

Uzom: princess Uli you are beautiful, every man's dream, a young educated woman with a whole lot of life ahead of her, but you are not the woman for me, I slept with you because you seduced me, now you blackmailing me into becoming your husband, but I'm sorry dear, Andorra is the one woman I'll ever love. chief and my beautiful queen, your daughter is damaged, seek help for her.

he then headed to his car.

princess Uli fainted, they rushed her to the hospital but the doctors discharged her saying the condition might be spiritual since they have never seen a person so healthy in coma.

the chief called for a prophetess to tell them what was going on

prophetess: she must tell you the truth

chief: how when you see she's been like this for days, wake her up

the prophetess asked for a week, then she returned, on her return princess Uli woke up, she had to confess everything or her condition would worsen. she indeed did that.

the community was stunned by the new revelation and started feeling sorry for Andorra, Mr Nnebe was one of them.

at the forest Andorra was making a slow progress, she spent 3 weeks on the forest, feeding on fruits on the trees and water, it was during the fourth week when she was sitting under a huge tree when she heard voices, she walked to the direction and indeed there were three men talking, she hid herself but could hear clearly what the men were saying, they planned to kill the king since there's no one to take over the throne, then his brother will have to be the king, so plan was to buy king a bottle of wine, while they're drinking, one of them should act drunk and start petty fights then stab the king.

Andorra ran the direction those men walked in, she ran but her body was failing her, when she was about to give up, she saw people in a stream washing clothes, she ran to them and collapsed, those people carried her to the palace since they don't know her. there she was given a room to sleep in and a doctor came in to check what could be wrong, so hunger was the issue.

when she woke up, she was given a hot meal, she ate then looked at them

Andorra: my name is Andorra, I was bunished from my village for something I did not do, I was in the forest for 3 weeks and up to today. my king i heard people planning to kill you, one of them is your brother I assume

Odeneka: how do I trust a stranger that was banned her own people?

Andorra: I have nothing to loose

Chissom: why were you bunished?

Andorra: they accused me of stealing sacred staff from the palace, they found the staff in my belongings at home but I swear I had nothing to do with it.

king and his wife looked at each other, the news have traveled to the nearest kingdoms about princess Uli framing her friend for a man.

they took Andorra in, bought her clothes and treated her like their own child, the day they were waiting for came, those three men came, one being the king's brother, as planned and as Andorra told them, it happened but the master plan which was to kill the king failed.

Andorra was legally adopted by the couple, they changed her name to Udoka, princess Udoka.

king Odineka invited the near kingdoms to celebrate as he welcomes her daughter, all the kings came with their children, Udoka was welcomed and the necessary rituals were performed to make it official.

Uzom and her dad went to chief Odineka to ask for Udoka's hand in marriage, the negotiations took long but at the end they ended up marrying them.

it was a beautiful ceremony, two people who deeply love each other, it also rained to bless the day and the ceremony.

the two had 7 beautiful girls and 1 boy, 8 kids in total. the first two kids were twins, born when Udoka and Uzom were 28 years, when they turned 33 they had another set of twins, three years later 38 they had 1 girl then 43 they had another set of twins, a girl and a boy then adopted one girl whom her mother died after giving birth he same day as Udoka.

Uzom had his own private practice, Udoka had her own private practice also, the two were living happily with their kids.
