Chapter 18: Being An Errand Boy

"Alright, I'll do it but for how long?" It wasn't that much of a bother for Caizher to gather such materials especially since he would be needed to fight!

On other things, the man is very lazy but when it comes to fighting, all of his laziness will vanish

"A month. Give me a month, I'm confident that the weapons I will make at that time would be stronger!" The little girl said confidently and Caizher decided to trust her

"Deal!"

Thus, a deal was formed between the two and they shook hands with each other.

Anyways, Caizher planned to stay in this base for quite some time, and sure enough, just like what he thought, humans are creatures of innovation! First, is new materials for a weapon, who knows if more amazing things will appear? It will also give him more time to investigate this base's number 1 expert

Another month has passed and only a month away before the apocalypse reached its first year

"Time to let my sword taste blood again!" Caizher unsheathed the sword given to him by the little girl and defended himself from a group of ten dogs

He was currently inside the big city again and to his luck, he entered a house where ten mutant dogs are living. It seems like the former owner of this house loves dogs and has ten of them

Caizher slashed his sword on the closest dog to him but the dog was very agile and dodged. The other nine dogs pounced on him and the man sinks his body on the ground only leaving his sword above ground

One unlucky dog coincidentally landed on the sword and impaled itself causing blood to dye the sword and ground

Caizher emerged from the ground and shook off the dog from his sword, but to his surprise, the dog was actually still alive. Not just that, but as soon as he removed the sword, Caizher saw the wound he made slowly healing up

Although the healing process was slow but it was still visible to the eyes! No creature before the apocalypse has such an amazing regenerative ability. The world has really become more dangerous now, if not for the doors having special effects, humans would be in a much more dangerous position

The ten dogs all glowed with various colors as they used the mana on their bodies. Some turned fiery red, some are icy blue, there are also some that were covered by the wind and etc.

The dogs have different elements and have different abilities

Seeing the dogs' current state, Caizher channeled his mana on his sword and it glowed with a dark light

"Heh... the world is much more exciting now!" Caizher said as he slashed his sword in the air and an arc of black light flew out from it

The dogs immediately dodged but Caizher used this chance. The dogs were focused on the black arc and Caizher managed to get close to one that is the closest to him

This particular dog has an aqua blue color and specializes in water abilities. Seeing Caizher was about to attack him, the dog opened its mouth and a ball of condensed water was shot from it aiming at their enemy's face

That was a mistake though, Caizher's body sunk in the ground leaving only a single arm that caught the dog off-guard and his sword went to pierce the dog's body

Caizher managed to make quite a deep cut on the dog before the others reached his position. Caizher was forced to fully sink his body on the ground again while abandoning his sword

Only his body can pass through solid things, he doesn't have the ability to use it on his weapons too

The dog looked around to see where Caizher is, as their enemy is a human, the simple mind of the dogs didn't find anything wrong when a piece of darkness was left from where Caizher vanished

Caizher might have 360° vision, but if his darkness is fully below ground, how would he be able to see? Fortunately, these dogs have simpler intellect and didn't find anything weird from the piece of darkness he left

Judging the timing is right, Caizher controlled his darkness and it covered his sword. The sword then went on the dog he injured before and pierced its body again. This time, he has enough time and he finally killed the mutant dog thanks to the dogs thinking that he was already gone

Caizher returned above ground while holding his sword. He didn't waste any time and charged at the dog with a fiery aura. He first wants to deal with the dog that has abilities inclined to attack power

The others are specializing in regeneration or defense and Caizher won't be harmed much by them

The dog shot a beam of fire from its mouth and Caizher was forced to defend himself by putting his sword in front of him. Caizher's mana was used up every second as fire continuously came out from the dog's mouth

Arf! Arf!

The other dogs used this chance and pounced on Caizher again. Without a choice, Caizher moved his body sideways and stopped defending himself from the fire dog's attack

A line of fire pierced Caizher's shoulder but no blood was spilled from it. One can only see dark fog on the man's wound. Other humans wouldn't do this as they will have a lesser chance to live if their shoulder was seriously injured like that

However, Caizher is different and he controlled his darkness to 'patch' the missing part on his shoulder and it was good as new. Even his clothes returned to normal as if nothing happened

The dogs this time changed their tactics and opened their mouth to make an attack similar to what the fire dog did. Nine lines of light appeared and Caizher was forced to sink on the ground once more

But this time, Caizher's hand is still above ground holding his sword and with the fastest speed he can, he charged at the dogs

As the dogs were busy on their attack, they were not able to defend themselves and Caizher finally killed the fire dog causing more blood to dye the ground

Caizher used all sorts of tactic and with some effort, successfully killed all of the dogs

"Here comes the part I hated the most!" Caizher said in an annoyed manner and started picking the dog's useful body parts one by one

He likes fighting but on other things, he was quite lazy. "Argh, although I can remove their blood and saliva on me easily but it is still disgusting!"

Caizher complained while removing the dog's teeth. After removing all the useful body parts, Caizher put it all on his bag that he abandoned before to focus on fighting

Caizher slapped the bag and nodded his head "This is enough. Who would have thought that a young master like me would become an errand boy" Caizher said bitterly

If he wasn't interested in powerful weapons, he wouldn't do this kind of thing. However, the first sword that the little girl made can already rival swords with almost a top quality. What's more, if she improves her skills? This made Caizher tempted

A strong person must be accompanied by a strong weapon!

"Too bad, I fought too much this past month and my sword is already starting to become blunt" Caizher said helplessly while looking at his sword

The good thing about the sword made by mutant animals is that they won't rust even if they are always covered by blood. Caizher fought every day and his sword was always dyed by his enemies' blood

But although it didn't rust, some parts of it were already chipped away. He also encountered enemies with high defensive abilities and it caused his sword to be worn out easier

"Time to go back!" Caizher muttered to himself. This was his routine for the past month. He will go inside the populous city, fortunately, a lot of people owned dogs or cats and it wasn't that hard to encounter one. After filling his bag full, he will then head back to the base and give it to the little girl

In the base, he will rest for a while and 'earn money' to buy things that interest him. By earning money, what one will think of it, is different than what Caizher does

A man like Caizher that is lazy and never got worried about money before won't work hard for it. He will simply walk in crowded areas and when some thieves will try to steal from him, he will stop them and threaten their lives just like what he did to the thief that guided him to the little girl's weapon shop

The thieves then won't have any choice but to give in and give all of their money to him. There are also groups of gangster that offended him and he killed some of them in a secluded area before exploiting them of their money

His actions made the people in the base to give him the nickname "Exploiting Demon" as all people that will offend him will be exploited for their money

Fortunately, he spent most of his time fighting and was rarely in the base. If not, his actions might forced the base's authority to 'discipline' him. But of course, it still made some people dissatisfied with him, but what does Caizher care?

Walking towards the base's gate, Caizher saw that Sheena is on a defending duty today. People like her are supported by the base. On all the new information and innovative inventions, the base will prioritize them and even give some of it to them for free

But this will take away some of their freedom as they will be given tasks by the base

People like Caizher on the other hand only need to help defend the base in case something bad will happen. In times where no enemies that required all of the experts to team up, they are free to do anything they like as long as they won't cause any trouble

Seeing Caizher, the woman immediately gritted her teeth and went to where the man is

"Don't cause any trouble inside again! The higher-ups are giving more and more attention to you because of your actions!" Sheena warned Caizher

However, Caizher only nodded his head and waved his hand nonchalantly. "I won't"

This made Sheena infuriated and she glared at Caizher. Maybe because she's confident in her looks that Caizher didn't pay attention to, that's why she always paid extra attention to the man

Women are really fickle creatures. If you show that you like and want them, they won't like you back and even think that you are creepy. But when you ignored them, they will immediately become angry and starts pestering you

"Don't give me that attitude! I am serious here!" Sheena said through gritted teeth

Caizher yawned and started walking away. "Okay, Captain!"

The woman was left there alone while glaring at Caizher's back. The area surrounding her experienced a drop in temperature due to her mood

"C-captain please calm down" one of Sheena's team said trying to stop their captain from making the surroundings colder

"How can I calm down?! That hateful man is always causing trouble inside the base. I'm the one that the higher-ups always reprimanded because I was the one that recommended him before to enter the inner area!!" Sheena exploded and her team can only pitifully listen to her rants

As for Caizher, he entered the base and saw that the outer area's condition was worse than before. As humans grew stronger, the hierarchy was slowly becoming more visible

The strong started having comfortable lives with more than enough food and money for themselves. As for the weak, they only receive the basic kind of protection and everything else was left for them to figure out

Even their living space is not clean and safe as it was outside the area of the door's protection. They constantly lived every day thinking if they have the chance to see the sun in the next day. Even just the food for their stomach is a huge problem for them

Caizher sighed while looking at these pitiful people. He's not a saint but he still has some pity for them. He can't help them much and can only kill more humanity's enemy to lessen the dangers they are facing
