1 A Beast Saved Me

I felt something different as soon as I woke up this morning.

It was unbelievable that the early morning dew could be so heavy in the wild, and my tent was covered by so many droplets.

What a strange thing in autumn!

However, there was not only one weird thing.

Looking around the campsite, the scene was different than yesterday: the woods of the forest became much thicker for no reason, and the weeds were so high that they almost cover half of my car tires.

I was just camping, as usual, had a nice BBQ, and then went straight to sleep yesterday, why is everything changed while I was sleeping?

Tentatively, I walked further afield from my tent — at a glance, not only silhouettes but also even shadows of other tents or tarps were not there anymore! To protect everyone's privacy, although our tents do set separately at a distance, they are still not so far away from the campfire. At least, I could see my other classmates' cars and tarps before.

What if I didn't hear any sound of people getting up and leaving, or did I lose my memory?

No, I am sure they will wake me up, we've planned to do more research about the primitive aboriginal site today and the dates on my notebook show I didn't miss anything.

Things have somehow become bigger now.

Can't give up so quickly, I used my memory to reach the place where the campfire was raised last night.

Well, unfortunately, all traces of modern civilization were gone — except myself. The campfire was set up by the campsite and used by countless tourists, no matter what happens, it won't disappear and doesn't even leave a stone here.

With all these factors, I can almost conclude that I am now in a mysterious place, just after one night's sleep. Or am I time travelled to the past? Like the movie Back to the Future — on the contrary, I am to the past.

FINE.

Thank you for not sending me alone to this place, in this case, at least I don't need to worry about starvation?

Being in a daze for a while, I decided to eat something and explore the surroundings later. The forest was so quiet that I can't even hear the chirping of birds, the only thing I could catch is some occasional sound of the wind howling through the leaves.

The closer I walked to the shade, the darker the light becomes. In this silence, it seemed like a monster would suddenly jump out of those shadowed places. More and more scared as I have become, I finally made up my mind to go back to the tent and light a campfire.

Thank God I prepared enough food to share yesterday, and the camping equipment was completely transmigrated with me as well. Additionally, my Jeep Wrangler has just been filled with gas. The brightening fire around me dispelled some fears of travelling alone into an unknown field, and also brought some sense of security.

...

Something is wrong.

Sitting in front of the fire and adding firewood while listening to the crackling of wood burning at the same time, I should have calmed down gradually, but now I feel panic as if some danger is coming.

Subconsciously looked up and around, no difference.

Just trying to put my heart back, a gust of wind suddenly blew and flicked the flames, behind the campfire, several pairs of shining green eyes were braving a few meters away!

HELP!

Are they coyotes?!

The light of the campfire stretched the shadows behind the coyotes in distance and slowly extended them into the dark forest. I can't hear any approaching footsteps but can feel they are moving forward, step by step.

This is an open field, with no way to escape, nowhere to hide.

With a heart in my throat, I can't even make a move. It seems like as soon as I move, these coyotes will attack me with their widely opened mouths.

WHAT SHOULD I DO?

I was happy when saw all my stuff being brought with this time travel, but now they are ironically telling me that they can only feed me instead of protecting me.

My survival tools now cannot help me survive.

AM I GOING TO DIE?

At this moment, I found myself too sad to do anything.

Closing my eyes in despair, I tried to wait for the pain to come without seeing them. But some miserable cries come to my ears.

What happened?

Looking up carefully in doubt, the cause of my second heart attack finally showed up —— a giant wolf.

The fierce wolf was standing in front of the fire, had his back to me, in a protective posture, and making a threatening hiss.

Obviously, he was the one that keep me from being torn!

The wolf's size is triple larger than a coyote, has a tiger-like tail and back, grey-brown furry and a dog head. Looks like a wolf in front but like a tiger in back.

The alpha coyote seemed not willing to give up, it was showing his fangs in anger, and kept coming with the siege of other coyotes. Immediately jumped high, the giant wolf pierced the alpha coyote's throat within a few breaths.

None of those coyotes got the chance to hurt me, they all had to leave after the alpha coyote's death.

The majestic behemoth turned around, casually rubbed off the flesh and blood on his claws, bent down his head, and then narrowed his amber eyes, he stared at me closely, while walking toward me on the sticky blood.

My heart bounded back to my mouth from my stomach, thumping like it is going to jump out, and my whole body began to tremble.

"Don't ... don't eat me! I am poisonous!"

With a thick sunscreen covered every day, I believe that I am deeply marinated by those chemical materials.

Surprisingly, the wolf really understood me, stopped and squatted, putting down his murderous eyes, even his ears moving backward like an obedient dog.

"Woof, woooof woooof."

Barking and sobbing in a low voice, the giant dog frantically wagged his tail at me!
