CHAPTER 8 Is this a slice of life?

Walking down a road into what looks like a residential district I can't help but see similarities from my earth. Normal two story homes with balconies or decks, honestly expected something more barbaric considering the Saiyans themselves. Really the only difference between the two people is tails and the blazing red sky. It's honestly beautiful like a constant state of sunset.

"You're so odd Scorz, you act like you've never been on the home planet before." Gine laughs pointing out my meticulous gaze at everything around me.

"Well besides the desert and the army barracks I've never really explored the planet." I said, explaining my interest.

"What do you mean, don't tell me you jumped straight into the army as soon as you came home?" She asked with a clipped tone causing me to sweat.

"What else was he supposed to do?" Asked Bardock confused by his wife's question.

"Obviously explore his home planet, mess around like other kids. Not join a war the second his ship lands." Gine answered Bardock's question with a sigh.

"You're aware we're Saiyans right?" I asked to confirm my belief that she actually is a Saiyan. 'Jeez she's the most normal person I've met in this new life, I know she was stated to be a kind hearted Saiyan but damn, she's so human.'

"Just give it up kid, it's not worth it" Bardock said, scratching the back of his head comically.

"Hmmpt" Gine agrees.

After a 5 minute walk we arrived at the front of a small one story home, painted dark blue with a bunch of weights and kids toys thrown about the lawn. 'Man this is immersion breaking, expected more of a Viking like aspect to everything. Still it's not a bad thing'

Just when I finished that thought a small child runs out with dark black hair that is longer than he is tall.

"DAD your home!" Chibi Raditz yelled out in excitement before running up to Bardock and throwing an extremely choreographed punch. Bardock stops it with a single finger before lifting the kid up over his shoulder and continuing his walk inside.

"You're a hundred years too early to get a hit on me kid." Bardock responded with a rare smile. Raditz pouts momentarily before his eyes trace over to me looking at me in confusion.

"Who the hell are you?" Raditz asked with childish curiosity, at least until Gine smacked him over the head for his language.

"RADITZ!"

"Hi kid, I'm the new guy on the squad. Your mother forced me to come," I respond with a chuckle before he gives me an incredulous look.

"Liar you're too small," Raditz said while a tick mark appeared on my head. Seconds later Bardock busts out laughing to my misfortune.

"Now listen here you little basta.. owwww FUCK!" I begin to berate Raditz but before I could finish Gine grabs my ear and damn near yanks it off.

"Enough, everyone's dinner is getting cold."

We all nod not willing to risk her yelling some more, it was a modest affair all things considered. We ate some type of roast that tasted oddly similar to pork topped with many odd colored veggies. Best meal I've had since I've come to this world, well I guess when compared with military rations anything's better.

Quickly after dinner Raditz begins jumping all around the room excitedly asking for Bardock to train him. 'I guess everyone was a kid at some point, even villains. Huh, wonder what Frieza was like as a kid? Nah he was probably born evil'

Heading towards the backyard Raditz begins bragging about creating an original technique, he quickly channels his ki into both palms causing a purple energy to swirl around him before launching the blast into the sky.

"DOUBLE SUNDAY!" Chibi Raditz yelled, blasting forth an honestly impressive attack for his age.

"Nice, but if you focused more on condensing the energy the blast radius and damage would double." I said thinking out loud looking at the blast disappear after about 400 meters.

"Like you could do better you god damn midget!" Raditz yelled in childish fury over my critique. 'Ah there he is, little evil bastard. You wanna see some shit fine.

"RADITZ, stop underestimating people, the kids barely a quarter cycle order than you and he could fight thousands of you without breaking a sweat." Bardock quickly berates his son over his misjudgment of my power.

"Kaaa.. meeee… haaa.. meeee" I chant the dream of most kids almost nonchalantly as Bardock's eyes widen, feeling my power pass 30,000.

"SCORZ STO…."

"HAAAAA!" I yell sending a 20 meter wide blue blast into the sky sailing through the atmosphere in under a second. I look over to Raditz whose gaping in amazement as the blast continues to travel.

"See, that technique is a prime example of the difference between condensed blasts and non condensed blasts."

"Scorz, do you realize what you just fucking did? you idiot!" Bardock gets in front of me quickly, a tick mark appearing on his brow. I just look up in confusion not realizing where he's going with this.

"This is not the battlefield you idiot, rising powers are documented religiously, there's literally a tech department that monitors everything on the planet! Do you even realize how high you went?!" Bardock yelled, grabbing me by my armors collar lifting me up in anger.

"Um.. 10,000?" I responded with a sinking feeling. 'Fuck, the gravity training is messing with my ki control, I honestly feel like I used less than 5% of my ki in that blast.'

"Try over 40,000 when your blast hit its apex!" Bardock yelled, tossing me to the side in anger. Raditz just sat on the sidelines confused as to why his fathers so mad.

"It was only for a second there's no way they caught that!" I reply back in denial.

"Yeah we'll see" Bardock responded ominously.

SECONDS BEFORE…..

PLANET VEGETA MONITORING DIVISION

The planetary monetary division has always been an extremely boring job for the working-class Saiyan Kagu. Many would call it a dead end job with no chance of advancement, scraping by on day to day pay without any respect due to being a non-warrior.

But in reality it's one of the best jobs a worker-class could land, great hours with minimal work, a lazy man's dream. There has never been a time where he's had to report anything above the norm besides compiling scouter results on the Frieza forces that stop by on routine check ups. Today was not one of those days, his monitor lights up in all red and begins to start beeping loudly.

"Snoorrr….. AHH WHAT THE HELL" Kagu wakes up in a flurry quickly turning his head to his monitor as his heart goes cold.

"Residential sector 14, p-powerlevel spike detected" Kagu begins recording the anomaly in worry.

"15,000…25,000…32,000..45,000…54,000, oh fuck I need to send this upstairs immediately, god dammit I really hope this is a glitch because if not planet Vegeta is going to be turned upside down." Kagu states with worry as he jumps from his chair and runs at his top speed towards the throne room to give his report to the guards.

MINUTES LATER THRONE ROOM...

"MY KING IT'S AN EMERGENCY!" A roguish Saiyan male flies through the window, stark black spiky black hair tied in the back, adorned in black armor with a red badge over his heart signifying his status. Parcel the 2nd Royal guard, a singularity among Saiyans boasting a recorded power level of 11,500.

"Parcel, speak. What is the problem?" A regal voice asks shifty his full attention on one of his most loyal and trusted soldiers. This man was the king of the Saiyans, Vegeta the Third proudly known as the strongest of his race to ever spear in current history. A recorded battle power of 15,800.

"A message from the on-planet observation department, at exactly 22 :00 hours in Residential District 14 a power was reported to increase to a staggering amount." The Royal guard reports with an obvious line of sweat falling from his brow.

"How high did it reach?" King Vegeta asked in concern, noticing how worried his guard seemed.

"54,430, my Liege" Parcel reported firmly causing the King to widen his eyes in concern.

"Are you sure there wasn't an error in the system?" The King asked dubiously, not quite believing such a person was on the planet.

"Yes lord, it was checked a total of 14 times. The worker is sure of it." He reports causing the king to go into deep thought about the situation. After about 5 minutes of vigorous thoughts he decided to seek counsel.

"I'd like to hear your opinion on the matter Parcel." The king ordered.

"I believe there are three possible explanations, a spie planted by the Tuffles in a new power suit we've heard nothing about, very unlikely considering we'd be receiving reports now of mass genocide occurring if this person has been discovered. More likely it's a spie from the Frieza force keeping tabs on us.The Most concerning possibility is that it's a Saiyan that's been hiding his or her power, if true the Legend may already be upon us." The warrior rattles off, betraying his barbaric look with an intelligent response.

"We've discussed this many times. Parcel, the Legend is an anomaly in a Saiyans gene pool. Causing madness as well as mental illness, every carrier has been culled since the first King took this very throne. It would be extremely unlikely that a Normal Saiyan could even harness that power, it has been tried and tested time and again" the king pauses to take a breath as his soldier begins to disagree.

"My liege, theirs stil.."

"I won't deny the possibility, however unlikely it may be. Take Kelor and Ego with you and conduct an investigation on area 14." The King passes his orders ending their never ending debate, Parcel leaves quickly to conduct his Kings orders.

'I understand the want and the hope for the Power that realizing the Legend could mean, I was like him once I believe. Young, full of pride with the thirst to prove myself the greatest King in the Saiyans history, becoming a Super Saiyan must have been my dream for 20 years. A foolish endeavor' the King sighed lightly looking over to the setting sun contemplating the future path for his people.

NEXT MORNING....

Waking up not on a ship or on some random planet with the smell of blood everywhere has sadly become an alien experience for me. Don't get me wrong, having the opportunity to have a new life is awesome and a promised opportunity to return to my world is a blessing not many could even hope to fathom. I guess maybe I disregarded the scale of the mission by being too blinded by the possible rewards, the real thing i should have asked was the why? Out of the millions of people who die daily, why me?

Realistically speaking there are probably dozens of people with the same mentality as me, especially in the military so that can't be it. Wanton disregard for life was sadly a common trait among humans, at least from my reality. Drive? A solid goal? Family? It could be any number of those things, too bad this a moot point at the moment, ill never know until the one behind the system decides to speak with me again.

On a positive note, my progress has finally bore fruit, in just a month and a half from starting I've already surpassed Goku from his return to Namek. In the scene where Goku and GInyu squared off it was shown that Goku was at 180,000 with Kaio-Ken. Now was that his max? That I'm not too sure about. But in my 'grind form' (little guy mode as Bardock calls it) I'm almost at 100,000 while in my ultra form the drain on my Ki no longer exists, at least not to the point it's noticeable. While my power doubles and with no strain to boot, honestly one of the best gifts the system ever gave. So all in all a very productive month, the main thing is what am i gonna do once i've maxed out the gravity room? I haven't planned that far ahead honestly.

I expected the gravity room to take months to complete, completely underestimated the level of technology in space, probably should've put two and two together when I seen the ship have a fucking light speed engine. Turning into a Saiyan definitely made me stronger but the jury is still out on the intelligence side of things.
