Power in the Wrong Hands

The central base of the Light Association is in Osaka. Under a federal building. Not more than 48 hours had passed since the multiple deaths at the hands of a dark entity when Anton discovered more than they needed to uncover the truth about this dark entity. Now in possession of the cursed tape, Anton prepared to watch this video with an analyst and uncover the whole truth.

"Any specific orders?" A bespectacled man named Daniel looked at Anton for any special instructions.

Anton glanced at the old television and said, "Take care of analyzing the video; I'll handle the rest, so don't worry."

"I fear nothing, Guardian..." Daniel prepared with a notebook and a pen; he needed nothing more to start the investigation. When the two were ready, they played the tape.

In the initial fragments of the video, a woman combing her hair appeared. Daniel identified and memorized her face, then saw the letters forming the word 'eruption,' followed by people crawling on the ground. Anton, as Reiko had mentioned, noticed a girl dressed in white with long black hair and, in the end, a well in the middle of nowhere with an eye where Sadako's name could be read.

Only then did Anton realize that the video couldn't be real. If it wasn't real, then the malevolent spirit had the ability to create the video. At that moment, the disconnected phone beside him rang.

Anton, who was next to it, took the phone and said, "Sadako, do you have awareness, or are you just a malevolent spirit with a grudge?"

"If you come looking for me, if you even dream of coming to find me, I'll kill you before the seven days." A chilling voice came from the phone, but contrary to being scared, Anton simply smiled.

"Unknowingly, you've told me where you are, so I'll find you. When I find you, I'll exorcise you, and then we'll see what you're capable of." Anton had clear objectives.

Crack! At that moment, a sinister energy emerged from the TV, but before it could do anything strange, Anton took out a silver dagger and threw it so forcefully that it pierced the TV, embedding itself in the wall.

Boom! With a burst, the TV stopped showing images. The phone in Anton's hand began to catch fire, but he easily moved it away from his hand.

"Guardian, are you okay?" Daniel was petrified because he was a logistics man, not a field operative, so what he experienced was truly shocking.

Anton looked at him and nodded, indicating that he was fine. He adjusted his gloves in the meantime and, seeing nothing else happening, said, "I want a report on the history of that malevolent spirit. Preferably, investigate its whereabouts."

"Understood, Guardian. Give me a few hours." Daniel left the room, having what he needed to begin the embedding with the help of the Eye of God.

A few hours later, Daniel approached with complete information and said, "Sadako's mother is named Shizuku Yamamura. She was born and raised on Oshima Island, near Izu, Japan. She had a close relationship with her cousin, Takashi. Shizuko was born with psychic powers that were controlled and allowed her the power of foresight."

"Shizuko gave birth to Sadako under mysterious circumstances. She possessed the power of foresight, which was eventually exhibited by Dr. Ikuma and Shizuko's cousin, Takashi, to the press. However, a journalist mocked Shizuko and labeled her a fraud." Daniel weakly placed the files in Anton's hands for him to look at.

"Shizuko eventually went mad and spent hours standing in front of a mirror combing her hair. She predicted the eruption of a nearby volcano on Oshima Island, and her prediction came true on the day she committed suicide by jumping into the volcano."

"When Sadako was eight years old, her mother's powers failed during a public demonstration, leading the press to brand her a fraud and Ikuma to resign in disgrace. As a result, Shizuko fell into deep depression, and, after returning to Oshima with Sadako, she committed suicide by throwing herself into Mount Mihara."

Daniel paused and said, "After Shizuko's death, Sadako lived with her mother's cousin, Takashi Yamamura, in the inn he manages."

"Where is the well?" Anton wanted to know the answer to that question because he believed firmly that this place was where all the problems originated. How did he come to this conclusion? The video. For some reason, Sadako showed the well in it; everything was connected to her story from her perspective, facing her, not her mother. In that sense, Anton knew that the grudge came from the girl named Sadako.

Knowing her name would make the exorcism easier, but Anton still needed to know the location before waiting seven long days for her to come for him as well as for Reiko.

Daniel, understanding this, said, "I suspect the well is in the same place where the tape was."

"Prepare a large team; we need to secure the area for the exorcism." Anton, who was expecting this, got ready.

"Understood, sir..."
