19 In the Midst of Darkness

Crack!

"Christ has power!" shouted Brad, who was shooting in the direction where Anton had been thrown.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Anton got up from the floor as if nothing had happened, took his shotgun, and without being moved by the recoil, continuously fired while reloading at a surprising speed. Although the special salt bullets were not lead bullets, the damage to evil spirits caused by their blessings was equivalent to the damage caused by lead bullets to the human body.

Anton saw Bathsheba, who had just appeared, explode from the bullets like a human body would. Of course, the strange explosion didn't spill blood or anything related, but it was an explosion of mist that recovered in a few seconds. But as they continued firing, the bullets were effective, causing Bathsheba a lot of damage and pain.

"Ahhhh!"

Obviously, the shots harmed Bathsheba, and her roar of pain became louder than before, mixed with the desperation of being hurt by humans. She knew that the priests would have measures against her, but she didn't expect the damage she would receive to be so great, so there were few things she could do now.

The strong sense of danger made Bathsheba feel that, for the first time in her life, she shouldn't have attacked humans, but there was no repentance in an evil spirit.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

"Die, damn crazy bitch!" shouted Brad, firing at everything in front of him. Anton regretted bringing Brad at this point, but he didn't have time to waste with him because he had Bathsheba in front of him with half of her body destroyed.

Bang!

Despite Brad and Rafael's shots being effective, hitting one out of every five shots, Anton had to take care of the accurate shots against Bathsheba, who stared at him.

In his memories, everything that was happening compared to fiction had been far surpassed. This had no name or form because no one could even think that this was happening somewhere in the world.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Anton walked step by step toward Bathsheba. His steps were slow but unyielding because he wasn't afraid.

"Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!"

As the resentment disappeared, Bathsheba's howl became even louder, and the pain mixed with resentment was felt even by ordinary people. The howls resembled those of an enraged animal mixed with a feminine voice, emitting feelings of pain and unwillingness.

"On Earth, they are common; in the light, I am a weapon, and in the darkness, I am the blinder of evil," murmured Anton, reciting prayers for self-protection not only for himself but also for Brad to prevent him from being possessed.

Anton looked into Bathsheba's eyes and muttered, "We have you!"

Bang!

Those fierce eyes instantly exploded, dissipating along with the lingering resentment in the air.

Looking at the empty space without any malicious aura in front of him, Anton raised his hand and handed his shotgun to Rafael, took out a silver cross, and murmured, "The light illuminates my path; I am the faithful follower of my beliefs, and under no circumstance or doubt will I walk in darkness."

Anton frowned; his gaze shifted around as if he thought this wasn't over yet.

"Was that all?" Anton, who had always fought demons from hell, felt incredulous to know that an evil spirit wasn't as powerful. But seeing all the shell casings on the ground, his two remaining bottles of holy water, and more than half of his bullets still in his body, he believed it wasn't as weak as he had initially thought.

At this moment, he underestimated his combat ability. Although it doesn't matter in reality since he can fight hand-to-hand with his sword, everything is better when possibilities don't run out.

"It would have been more complicated if it were an incarnate exorcism; I can guess any outcome as long as the evil entity is eliminated." Anton, at this moment, felt a slight pain in his ribs but didn't make a fuss. Looking at the place, which was certainly a medium, he began to examine it more deeply.

Unlike the resentment that has slowly dissipated, there is always a very thin group of resentment that remains, which is particularly noticeable given how many years this cursed place has been.

"Rafael, finish the job and bless this place." Anton looked at Rafael, took his shotgun, and climbed the basement stairs.

"Yes, Priest Anton!"

Anton, who nodded, ascended the stairs and placed a cross on the door. He then closed his eyes and murmured, "May the light of redemption dissipate the shadows that envelop this place, transforming darkness into peace and renewal. May positive energy and purity restore harmony in every corner, dispelling any lingering evil."

When Rafael ascended the stairs with Brad, they both clearly heard a sob that made them feel inexplicably uneasy.

...

"What was the outcome?" After several loud shots, the people in the living room felt nervous. Not that they underestimated Anton's methods, but they certainly had little faith because such exorcism methods were uncommon for them coming from a priest.

Therefore, everyone stood waiting, while the children clung tightly to each other out of fear.

"Should we take a look?" Drew asked quite nervously.

Ed, who was also beside her, grabbed the cross Anton gave him and took a deep breath, as if he had made a decision. "Alright! Just the two of us."

However, before he could signal his wife Lorraine, she took him by the hand and said, "Wait, I no longer see the shadows."

Ed was stunned; he knew his wife's ability perfectly, so he acknowledged Anton's abilities because she could see more light in him than any other priest. Therefore, if his wife can't see anything, it means the exorcism was a success.

"Really gone?" Ed stared at his wife as if he couldn't believe what he had heard.

"The shadows and the smell of evil are gone."

Everyone was attentive to their surroundings, and their senses were sharper than before. So obviously, they heard what Lorraine said and looked at her intently.

"Did the priest really manage to exorcise it?" Drew still didn't let her guard down; her tone was hesitant.

"They did it..." As if to confirm her statements, Lorraine scanned the surroundings of the house again. Her eyes, which could see good and evil, had been with her since childhood.

"Is this an exorcism? Really or not?" Drew, on one side, seemed a bit uncomfortable; she didn't believe that bullets could be effective against the dead.

"Drew, even for us, there are things we won't understand." Ed patted his assistant.

Not only Ed but everyone present except Drew, who was still uncomfortable, didn't want to pay much attention to the method but focused on the results.

At that moment, the sound of footsteps from the stairs was once again heard approaching.

In particular, Brad's movements were very heavy because he didn't have much strength to walk. When he saw Priest Anton being thrown, he thought he would die.

"Isn't that a lot of blood? I saw him walking a bit uncomfortably; was he injured when he was thrown against the wall?" Brad's voice was so loud that everyone felt anxious to know if someone was hurt.

"Priest Anton, how are you?" Lorraine quickly looked at the blood on Anton's face and asked to find out if his injuries were more than that.

"Nothing serious; the evil spirit has been successfully exorcised, so this place is safe."

After receiving the true answer, Roger's family immediately gathered and cried tears of joy. Finally, they no longer had to live a life of fear.

"Let me help you!" Ed quickly went to get a first-aid kit.

Anton nodded, not wanting to bother about his wound, but now is the time to pay attention.

Drew, who looked at Anton, was about to approach when suddenly Brad approached her, sitting like a log on the couch.

"I just shot in the air as if there were a thousand enemies ahead, then I saw Priest Anton being thrown, and in the end, I heard a woman crying," murmured Brad, who wanted to become a devout believer in some religion.
