109 I Don't Care About the Story; Just Eliminate the Threat

"Where are you going in such a hurry?" Reiko Asakawa, who discovered her niece's death thanks to one of her classmates, had seen a strange video during a getaway to a cabin with a group of friends just before. Coincidentally or not, all those in the photo also ended up dead on the same day.

From that moment on, Reiko can only follow the gut feelings she has as a journalist. She knows that something is hidden behind her niece's death and the deaths of the other kids, and she is determined to uncover the truth, no matter the cost.

That's why she appeared here and found the tape, and Reiko didn't hesitate to watch that strange video, witnessing the spectral images it contained.

As she was leaving the cabin after receiving that call that all the victims received, she saw Anton, the detective investigating the students' deaths, just outside the cabin.

"What are you doing in this place, detective?" Reiko wanted to regain composure but couldn't do it due to the shock of discovering the truth.

"I should ask you the same. Where are you going in such a hurry, and why are you investigating this case?" Anton took Reiko's bag, found the tape among her belongings, and took it directly.

Reiko, watching as Anton took the tape, said, "You should return that tape if you don't want to die."

"Do you think I believe in those stories? You're too naive to watch the video. Was it curiosity or stupidity? The truth is, I don't care, but you will serve as an experiment." Anton stored the tape in a silver box where there used to be a Bible.

"You are..." Reiko was surprised by Anton's caution with the tape, so she immediately knew that they knew what they were dealing with.

"I will introduce myself properly. My name is Anton ShadowBane. I am an exorcist who is investigating the case you are also looking into. You know you've been cursed, so if you want to live, you'll have to stay by our side to eliminate the dark entity that is over your shoulders."

Anton was very clear with his words: eliminating this curse is the right thing to do.

But Reiko, who wanted to find out the truth, asked, "Aren't you interested in knowing the truth?"

Anton shook his head and said, "Not at all. I just want to eliminate the curse in that video and exorcise the evil spirit."

"There must be a purpose behind that curse. The video I saw seems very strange."

Understanding evil spirits, demons, or supernatural beings? Their nature and behavior are understood, but they are enemies of humans. There is no new story, no excuses for why they act that way, and the only thing left is to eliminate them.

Anton had very clear initial objectives. It is clear that an evil spirit acts maliciously because it suffered greatly at the hands of humans. Still, the right to harm others is not an obligation.

It is the obligation of the living to end the living. Death is eternal rest, but as long as one is alive, they can make a difference. Anton was doing it now, so there was no excuse not to start doing it.

"Describe the video." Anton said as he got into the back of the vehicle with Reiko, while Yoshio sat in the driver's seat.

"A woman combing her hair, the letters forming the word 'eruption,' people crawling on the floor, a girl dressed in white with long black hair, a well in the middle of nowhere, and an eye on which you can read the name Sadako. Right after watching that video, the phone rang." Reiko revealed everything she saw while looking at Anton, who seemed to only listen.

She was scared, but the calmness with which Anton was acting somehow gave her a bit of confidence. Still, just in case, she sent a message to her ex-husband to make him aware that she was disappearing and to report this to the police.

"What do we do, sir?" Yoshio looked at Anton through the rearview mirror and expressed his doubts.

"Let's go to the central base. I want to watch the video with an analyst to discover where the evil spirit is." Anton said, closing his eyes to think of a good plan.

"Understood, sir."

Being a ShadowBane, Anton had a lot of authority, and now that he was a Guardian, many in the Light Association wanted to know what he was capable of with this exorcism.
