There was no hint or visual indicator that the gate was supposed to be burning hot, and the heat didn't feel like a normal burn either; normally, you would feel it in your skin, but this heat flowed through his veins and even warmed up his heart a bit, not in a good way.

"Huh?" He took a few steps back as he heard his name called. It wasn't Nessarose and the tone of the voice was familiar, too. "Elius?" 

The Wizard Elius was a wizard from the Magic Tower of Veridiana, a highly experienced 6-circle wizard who lacked mana; well, a lot of male magicians lacked mana, and for many, 6 circles were the max.
