88 Tense Moment

Love and hate were tangled up inside Melody, fighting each other and tearing her apart. It was always hard to deal with these different feelings and figure out how the love that was still there despite the hate.

"This is my notice," she said in a calm, professional voice that was second nature to her, but that she decided she would never use again as soon as she left the office building and left this guy behind. She would get rid of the icy exterior that had helped her get through the years and kept her safe from both herself and him.

She could be as crazy, emotional, and yes, dramatic as she wanted, whenever she wanted. She would be able to fly right down to her bones. She could feel that the shell she had built around herself for so long was starting to break. "Starting right now."

Slowly, with a mix of disbelief and unease, an aura of menace and an unsettling surge of power radiated from him, like a distinct and unfamiliar form of energy.
