4 First Time They Met

Melody couldn't help but feel uneasy as she took the only empty seat in the lobby and pondered the awkward situation.

The other women were sitting on comfortable luxurious couch, all of them waited excitedly to be called, and exchanged furtive glances with one another as if they were conducting a competition. They sprang to their feet when their names were announced, clearly eager to begin the interview.

She had no idea what was going on until one of the women, a blonde woman with red, glossy lips with a low-cut dusty pink silk blouse, that she could see the edge of black, lace bra, sneered in her direction.

"Why don't you just get up and leave right now? Certainly, I'm going to get hired for this position." She had a wicked grin on her face, "And if I'm lucky, I'm going to win Morgan Blodwyn as well."

Another woman with shining blonde hair and cherry red matte lips scowled at both of them from among the group of women. She muttered, "Give it up, babe," followed by a cruel, condescending chuckle. When she said, "You have nothing that it takes to deserve Morgan Blodwyn's attention," she said as she clasped her very curvaceous breasts with her palms.

Three of the other ladies in the room snorted, and Melody stared with inexplicable curiosity as another chestnut-hair woman opened the last button of her silk blouse while another black-hair one lifted up her miniskirt slightly exposing her smooth thigh skin.

Melody mused to herself that perhaps she should just leave as they urged. The other ladies were all breathtakingly gorgeous, and they each boasted for their fantastic bodies. She resembled a filthy, homeless person in appearance after cutting on the food costs that she could afford so that she could save some money and focus on her education for the past eight months.

Even if she did a wonderful job of modifying the skirt and blouse, none of her attempts could compete with the stunning and expensive clothing that these women were wearing.

Which prompted the question... what exactly was going on in this place? Why were all of these women primping as if they were preparing to enter a beauty pageant or something?

A few days ago, Sarah had informed her, explaining that this was a prime job opportunity according to Morgan. Her sister understood she had to get a job so she could afford to pay for her master's degree. Melody had been told that the company was looking a responsible personal assistant for him.

She was confident in her ability to handle the responsibilities of personal assistant, including secretarial work and daily time schedule management. Answering phones calls and managing correspondence? Yeah, that's not an issue at all. Making travel arrangements and organizing events? Without a doubt, she's capable of doing it even though she barely traveled anywere but her hometown and this city. Smile and greet people who came to visit? It's true that she has the ability to force herself to grin, and it's a genuine one. Just take it as an exercise for her facial muscles.

She even felt confident that she could overcome any obstacle that this Morgan guy threw her way, as she had done with every other dreadful test that life had thrown at her over the past year. Alas, she would have to secure the job first before proving that she was capable of doing so.

It wasn't until Melody noticed the other women that she began to have doubts.

Another woman was then summoned; the voice that shouted her name was deep and rather menacing. Melody adjusted in her seat, maintaining a demure distance from the others by keeping her skirt above her knees.

When he called another woman back, his deep voice seemed harsher than before. She was growing more and more irritated and afraid of this impatient bastard.

It was much worse because her interview was scheduled at 2:00 p.m! She thought so highly of this possibility that she must lie to her boss at her recent office to be here at two o'clock. It was now almost four o'clock! The time limit for her arrival at work was in thirty minutes, and she doubted that her boss would accept her job-hunting as a valid cause for her tardiness.

The mysterious, deep voice snarled as the last stunning beauty walked out of the room, "Melody Brynleigh!"

Melody stood up, hoisting her inexpensive, faux-leather bag lined with plastic material on her shoulder. Most of the other applicants were also toting around their expensive leather purses, each with a fancy day planner in their arms. All of them had radiated professionalism and elegance. It was clear to her that she didn't stand a chance at winning anything.

Despite the fact that she felt awfully unattractive in comparison to the other stunning women this man had interviewed today, she stuck out her chest and stepped into the room.

"Sit down!" The burly man rubbed the bridge of his nose and sipped from a ceramic mug as he scowled. So, this is Morgan Blodwyn!

Even though Morgan had such close relationship with her sister, Melody had never met him in person until this day she stepped into his office for the first time.

But even if superior title as the boss hadn't already marked Morgan as off-limits, the enormous wall of future kinship that stood between them had conveyed a clear message that said, "You can look but do not touch".

Melody leaned over the edge of the ergonomics mesh chair with armrests as if she assumed to be kicked out at any moment. She hoped to be prepared for the possible worst scenario, even if she wished she could think of a witty remark to make about the tardiness of this interviewer and what a jerk he was.

A razor commercial-worthy jawline, a full mane of dark hair, and broad shoulders at the fabric of his suit gave him the appearance of being a male model in suits which she had seen in many magazines.

Since he was reading the documents on the flimsy metal desk, that was pretty much all she saw of the man. That was, excluding that hand. She admired his attractive hands. He didn't even bother to lift his head from rubbing his forehead with his long fingers.

Almost like he suspected she was a pack of lies.
