Predilection

My eyes looked around the room, hoping to find a familiar gaze, when they suddenly got caught in a pair of bright blue eyes. Shamelessly I stared deeper into this ocean as a sense of longingness overtook me. A hard tap on my shoulder brought me back to reality, causing me to shake my head. Turning around to see my savoir, a bright smile appeared on her face. "Hey," spoke Amanda, giving me a glass. "Hi," I replied, glancing back at the strange man that sparked my attention. A deep grin manifested on his face, noticing my gaze back at him, creating a tightness in my chest. One thing was sure this man had picked my interest

With a swift turn, my head wiped around in the hopes of seeing the stranger from earlier, and to my delight, there he was.

"Hey," I replied, flashing an awkward smile.

A wide grin plastered on his face as he noticed my awkward gaze. Taking a step towards me, I instantly backed away, only to hit the railing. A soft chuckle exited his mouth, and that same chuckle made me burn.

"You didn't seem this shy back inside," he added, cornering me.

He softly pressed his body against mine, leaving me in awe. My uptight and conservative self would have already left the place, but somehow I stood firm, unable to move.

"I'm not," I replied, grasping my pride by hand, washing away the thought of crumbling to his feet.

The grin on his face became deeper as he leaned in his breath caressing my ear. His hand slowly crept up my neck, yanking my neatly curled hair back, causing me to yelp. My gaze shot up to sky.

"I wonder how you'll sound under me," he whispered, causing my cheeks to flush a bright red.

Unable to keep my composure, I pushed him away, inhaling a breath of air. Fanning my face as an attempt to cool down, a loud laugh occupied the amount. Facing the culprit, a look of disbelief displayed on my face.

"What so funny," I asked childishly slightly angered.

"Your cute," he replied, confidence accompanying his tone.

"What."

"Do you wanna have fun," he replied, his tone turning serious, discarding my question from earlier.

Standing stunted once again, I processed his sudden mood change. A part of me wanted to me to refuse his offer, but the other part wanted to live the teenage hood I left behind.

"Fuck it," I whispered, gulping down my glass of champagne before giving him an agreeing smile. "Let's go."

He suddenly grabbed my wrist, making our way to the exit.

At this moment, the only thing that mattered was him and I. Reaching the hall, we started dashing through the down the hallway, his grip still on my wrist, being careful as to not hurt me.

I felt a smile slowly creep on my face. Memories from childhood flashed in my mind as my smile turned into laughter. A laugh I haven't been able to manifest in a while.

Coming to a halt, he loosed his grip, causing a feeling of sadness to overtake me. Snapping back to reality, I realized what he was to me, a stranger whose name was unknown.

"Wait here," he said, reassuring me.

I watched him walk outside, observing the details of his face and body until he disappeared. He had a sharp jaw that accompanied a pair of bright red lips.

He wore a black suit with one button loosened, revealing a part of his chest.

Clenching my purse, I thought about all the possible features I possessed that could attract a gift from the gods. The features that could attract someone that even the angels would envy.

The sound of an engine caused me to lift my head to see a motorcycle. The same feeling of disbelief from the balcony overtook me, but I was too invested to back away.

Running up to him, he handed me a helmet. Looking up at him, a look of hesitance rested on my face. As if he saw my mind, he patted the back seat behind me.

"Get on," he said, a feeling of reassurance in his voice.

Taking a deep breath, I positioned myself behind him, my hands snaking around his waist for safety.

"Let's go," I yelped, as we sped into the distance, far away from all the worries that surrounded us.
