19 Chapter 16: Death matters not, fear matters not, only greatness
Henry paused for a moment then continued to speak
" my ability is from a bloodline concept, the concept of stars, this has been passed down in our family for many generations, almost every one from my family the starfiend clan has an ability from the star concept meaning that we all have abilities that have something to do with stars ".
max listened carefully and was surprised that all of Henry's clan had abilities from the same concept, from what he had learned max knew that abilities were under concepts. concepts dictated what an ability could do,
for an example if one could make flames with their Phanes energy, but did not have the concept to burn in that flame then the flame would not burn anything and would be just Phanes energy in the shape of a flame.
abilities all acted within concepts, there were no abilities without concepts however how powerful an ability was depended on how much of that concept it had and could access.
however if someone had a majority of a concept all even full access to a concept, that person would been seen as having a concept instead of an ability, it was all the same on the surface but on a deeper level concepts were more powerful than abilities as they could dictate how abilities worked.
max was surprised to here that Henry's clan had a bloodline concept, this was when one person in the past had a really strong ability becoming a concept and this concept was so dominant that it would ingrain itself in their blood,
and too an extreme degree their bones , allowing itself to be passed down to the persons children through bloodline and their children too depending on how dominant that concept is.
it is very rare for a concept to be based down,
Henry continued " because of our clan´s bloodline concept my ability is star field, star field lets me create red crystal like star that can explode at my will,
at a higher level like king class the explosion will be like a small star exploding destroying everything , wiping out cities at a breath and if i ever reach emperor class, the explosion will destroy everything in my wake, thousands of miles whole kingdoms and nations. "
max was a little bit shocked by the image of just one of his red crystal stars destroying an entire city.
Henry paused then continued " the number of stars i can create depends on my Phanes energy, the stars also allow me to float or fly when they revolve around me creating my own gravitational pull.
i can also use them to set up a grid that reduces everything that pass by it by 1/10 if and when it is of equal energy as my stars,
but if something of a higher class than me and my stars passes it will be reduced by less and less until it´ ineffective if the class if too high, and the thing has to be made of Phanes energy or energy itself otherwise it will not be affected"
max was relieved when he heard that it can only reduce depending on the level and class of the energy passing through the star grid,
if everything regardless of how strong it was is reduced by 1/10, that would be an overpowered ability it would mean no matter how strong you are as long as he sets 11 or more star grids your attack would be nullified by the 10th grid.
lucky it is not that ridiculous, it is still an overwhelming ability though
max started to see the true horror of Henry, exploding stars and reduction star grids, max did not know if Henry was already able to set 10 star grids, he didn't know how much energy every star grid needed.
max could already see how scary Henry will be when he has fully grown, with a man so powerful as the leader made max wonder why they asked him a noob to be part of the team.
after Henry finished it was sophie who spoke, he did not know what concept it was under since she did not mention it,
her ability could lock weapons, she had to first use her Phanes energy to envision and then craft a weapon with it,
she could not craft a weapon she did not understand how it worked and the stronger the weapon the more energy she need to craft and lock it.
after the weapon was forged, she could then lock it on her and then unlock it at any time.
max saw that when she unlocked her weapon earlier, max noticed that she reached for it behind her back.
so max guessed that the weapons where locked in specific parts of her body and she had to access that place before she can unlock the weapon.
max thought that if he had enough energy she could craft a treasure artifact ( treasure artifacts are just treasures like the treasure of Osiris the pendent of death that revived Sir alex )
if she could do that then that was scary, she could create as many treasures as she wanted, max asked her this and she just looked at him as if he was stupid.
but she still explains that when crafting weapons if the weapon required a concept but she did not have that concept and could not understand it then she couldn't craft it, even if she did it would be just a similar weapon but could not do the same as the original.
stating if she crafted a treasure of immortality but did not have or understand immortality the crafted thing would not do anything,
she also explained she would never try unless she was 100 percent sure even if she had a powerful concept like immortality because concepts were corrupting.
if she tried to understand a powerful concept like immortality she would get corrupted by it,
and it would take over her being, bringing her into immortality and making her part of it and she would be erased by it or at best case scenario be slightly corrupted and start acting according to it's principal,
if she was corrupted by immortality she would start to lose her own values and even lose her sanity and start do everything and abandon everything to try to become immortal.
from that explanation max understood that concepts were scary and should not be played with. He wouldn't want to be erased by a concept.
grey and white explain that their were blinkers, everyone seemed to know what blinkers were and looked cautious at their mention but max did not know and didn't ask ( because i the author feel like the pace is too slow and i´m spending too much time explaining things this chapter, i will explain when we get to that bridge, i don't want to make chapter boring. is it ? or it's fine so far)
grey and white could make white and grey shadow creatures, this shadow creatures could in turn make more shadow creatures and if they had enough energy they could make an army of shadows,
however if the shadow creature was destroyed the energy used to make it would be consumed and the creator of that shadow creature would receive backlash damage.
if grey made a shadow creature and it made a shadow creature if that last shadow creature was destroyed the creature that created it would suffer backlash damage and grey would not get the energy that destroyed creature was created by back.
if the first creature grey made died, grey would suffer backlash damage.
grey and white said no more but max felt that they still kept things hidden, well max guessed this was the same for every one.
lily said that her ability was water resurrection, it was a ability with high potential,
she said it could one day when she is strong enough resurrect an entire city with a thousand drops, and revive an army with a 100 drops.
however she could create 2 drops right now and if someone was on the same class as her the 2 drops could heal half of their damage.
but she need 12 drops to resurrect someone and the longer they died for the more drops were require, however she could not resurrect someone after 1 day before king class.
she also could just use water and not condense drops as that was easier but was less effective and did not work like water drops did, she could only heal up to 60 percent of someones health with water if she did not use drops.
max was amazed by how powerful her ability would be later even reviving one person is really powerful.
max was finding this situation even stranger, everyone had powerful abilities, from what he learned from ai sayama powerful abilities like this were definitely not common.
with such powerful people there was no way they invited a noob class, from a small family according to himself with good intention.
max did not know what they planned but he was no guard,
he did not want to leave he was not arrogant enough to think he had luck on 100 or some main character aura that let him just walk around recklessly without death.
so he figured that if he left even if he joined other people the strong ones would not want him and those who would, had bad intentions too,
or were too weak so he would die with them, he did not want to die because he was with weak people so he decided to just stay.
wayne explained that he had the ability called gamble on luck under the concept of luck, he could manifest a coin with luck on one side and bad luck on the other,
with it whenever he made a decision as long as it was not targeted at an individual if he flipped the coin it would calculate if he was going to be lucky with 80 percent accuracy.
if it was targeted at people he had to be stronger than them and if nothing interfered and no one else would be involved in the event it would calculate his luck with 70 percent accuracy.
for example if someone he wanted to kill was all alone in a house and he flipped the coin with the intention to kill them,
it would flip to luck meaning it had a 70 percent chance of success if he went to kill that person or bad luck meaning it had a 70 percent chance of failure.
if he did the same action again but there was someone in the house with them, the coin would not take into account that extra person in the calculation, as a result it might say luck leading wayne to believe he had 70 percent chance of success.
but when he went to kill the person the other person in the house found out and came to counter kill him then he would be out numbered and die.
the coin could not calculate on more one person till noble class where it would be able to calculate 2 people then this increase with each class.
he believe he could calculate on a whole city of people at emperor class, however he could not calculate on people of higher class or even higher rank than him.
he also could only use this coin twice a day at his current level.
after every one explain how their abilities worked max explained his, he spoke about his space ability,
he felt that it was a void ability which was higher than space but that was more rare and powerful than a space ability which is already rare, so he kept this guess to himself.
he showed his ability to sent items and attack through space, he also did not let anyone know that he could void walk and only said he could space leap.
void walking was the ability to travel in space at a great distance and be able to stay within the fabric of space whilst walking. it allowed you to decide how long you stayed within the fabrics of space at a higher level you could stay for days without coming out,
whilst space leaping only allowed you travel through space, the amount of time you could stay in the fabrics of space was small even at higher levels you could only delay the stay in the fabric of space for a few hours.
the leap would allow you to travel within a short distance. it was less scary because unlike void walking you couldn't hide in the fabrics of space to recover or escape danger,
and you could not escape as well because if you leaped but the person you where leaping from could somehow sense you as you have not travelled far or could run fast or fly fast, then they can catch up with you.
however it was space leaping so it was still very strong in battle even if the distance was limited.
every one already saw max appear out of no way and had guess he had a space a ability but they were still very surprised when he explained it,
they all felt as if he was more powerful than what they heard about people with space abilities, most of them had never seen anyone with the ability to space leap or attack through space.
apparently attacking through space was harder than leaping through space as you had to coat the weapon in your energy, and the energy had to last all the way through the fabrics of space till it reached its target.
most people could not control space energy well enough to make it coat a weapon and stay there as this required more energy to restrict the space energies as it was in their nature to travel about.
as such unlike leaping were you don't have to control the energy but just tear the fabrics of space it is harder to do.
max learned that space was one of the hardest attributes to control.
after every one got to know each other Henry spoke
" now that we understand one another i hope that we all have gained confidence in each other as a team, i don't want any one to make mistakes when we enter the gate, we all know what every one of us can do so i expect cooperation and teamwork "
" i will put my trust in you, i hope you trust me as the leader to make the right calls and the right instruction and i trust that you will follow every order, a mistake in there is a life gone, for us death is not an option".
after this little speech he let everyone go to their tent and sleep.
max went into the smallest tent and slept, he was excited for tomorrow, he could finally enter the ripple dimension.
the next day
max and the rest of the team walked along the road to a huge square.
there were thousands of people walking to this square
max could see the fear and expectations in their faces.
entering the square it was huge and filled with people, some were dressed in leather armor and a few like max had no armor on.
he could see many weapons, spears, halberds, swords, crossbows, it looked like soldiers were lining up for war.
after an hour of standing about the Square was filled with people and many were standing outside it around tents, looking to the very front of the Square.
at the very front a podium stood raised into the air, below it were soldiers armed to the teeth. wearing high quality leather armor and some legions wearing steel armor
max did not know if it was steel but it was a metal material, white in color
the soldiers looked tall and strong max could see how mighty they were from a distance.
"that is our competition" Henry said " some of the soldiers are from the our kingdom, some of them are soldiers of the great clans and minor clans, they are prepared and ready for a war, a ripple dimension is a war especially a unexplored one "
everyone in the team just nodded.
max tensed up
a few moments later a imposing man in white armor walked onto the podium,
instantly the crowd stopped speaking and paid attention
the man spoke with a strong voice
" i am General Claus, listen well and take what i am about to tell you to heart. Peasants, noble, kings, small families, great clans all are insignificant before the gate.
we all bleed red, we all die but the only thing that separates you and weak men is the determination to die.
the determination to fight for glory,
my fellow men before is the gate and in it, is a new unexplored door.
before this door there is no hesitation, there is no cowardliness !, there is no failure !!
it's been 4 years without a new door, 4 years without a chance to prove yourself, for your family, for your clan.
4 years without a chance to prove your bravery,
now!! " he paused
"it has come!!" with a loud shout he cried. the passion could be heard in his voice.
the crowd responded enthusiastically, shouting and cheering
" death matters not, fear matters not, only greatness, only worth, only GLORY!!!!!" with every word General Claus got louder and more impassioned.
the atmosphere was heated
the soldiers started to stump their feet in sync and beat their armor
a war cry started, infecting all that heard.
" many of you might die, but death means nothing, many of you might not come back but that means nothing.
all that matters is that here today as long as you walk through that door as the first wave to explore this door, the kingdom will remember you, the people will remember you, for what it takes is shear bravely, shear guts to explore an unexplored door.
worry not of death for there is glory in death,
fear not of what shall come for greatness is here!
through that door worth awaits you, merit from the kingdom for every man who dares to enter,
all that awaits us is glory.
in death there is glory so fear it not, for it is an honorable death.
now let us march, let us explore and let us CONQUER !!!!!!"

feet stumping, weapons clashing, drums sounding
everyone knew that death might come but they would rather die an honorable death than live on their knees.
soon the crowd started to march towards the gate.
