PWA 54 Kotonoha's Debut III [Rewrite]

After eating the cake, now it's time for the birthday gifts!

The father and mother give Kotonoha a finely made katana as her birthday gift.

"For self defense" said the father.

"We don't know what can happens during your journey, at least with this you can protect yourself if your Pokémon are fainted." Said the mother.

Kotonoha unsheathed the katana and marveled on the blade's high grade craftsmanship.

I can see that there is glint of a sharp and dangerous light on her usually adorable eyes as she looked at the lustrous steel blade before she put the katana back on its sheath and saying thanks to her parents.

Seriously? Did the parents giving a bladed weapon to their daughter on her coming of age celebration is considered a normal thing in this world?

I think it is not, I never see any other trainers, especially girls, who have a sword when they're traveling around, except for the samurai and ninja style trainers of course.

Or maybe they have hidden weapons such as daggers or throwing knives on their bodies? Who knows, right?

..... Could it be, that I might be the only one trainer here who don't have any weapons on my body?

Even though my father and his Medichamp already taught me some martial arts, but bare handed strikes can only do so little compared with having a weapon in our hands

..... I think I should buy a sword or a dagger latter.

Just like the Katsura parents said, we don't know what might happen on our journey, right?

Just in case I lose my pokeballs, or if all of my Pokémons are defeated and running away is also not possible, a weapon or two at hands might become a great help.

Once again, I am reminded that this World is now my reality, unlike in games where we can always have access to our pokeballs that somehow have never got stolen despite there is one or two criminal organisation running amok in the Pokémon series, who knows if a thief managed to steal our pokeballs or I somehow lost them by accident, right?

As I am lost in thought, it is Kokoro's turn to give her Onee-chan her birthday gift.

Kokoro give her dear Onee-chan a box wrapped in pink paper and tied with a red ribbon with a butterfly knot.

Pulling off the ribbon, Kotonoha carefully opened the wrapper before she goes unboxing the gift.

Oh, it is a pack of assorted berries.

10 Sitrus Berries, 10 Pecha Berries, 10 Cheri Berries and 10 Chesto Berries.

If there is Rawst, Aspear and Persim or even Lum Berry there, it would make a perfect, complete healing packs against all kinds of abnormal status that can affect a Pokémon aside from the stat reduction.

Too bad in Klepon Town, those berries are rarely available on the local market due to the low demands here, as there are almost no wild pokemons that inflicted burns and freeze here, while confusion can easily be cured by switching out with other Pokémon.

After Kokoro, Manami and Mr. Katsura have given out their gifts, the three members of Katsura family are looking at me with expectation in their eyes.

What? Did they expect me to take out my birthday gift now? But I already give it to her first thing in the morning.

Aa if reading my mind, Kotonoha showed off the ring on her finger to her family while saying, "Actually..., Jovanna already give me her..., Ahem, I mean, his birthday gift this morning."

Manami and Kokoro Katsura looked at the ring in Kotonoha's finger with fervent gaze.

"Wow, such a beautiful ring...." Said Kokoro while admiring the ruby and diamonds on Kotonoha's golden ring.

Meanwhile the mother Manami Katsura give me her nod of approval while smiling with satisfaction towards me.

After we finished with the cake and presenting our gifts, Kotonoha's coming of age celebration comes to an end with Kokoro who have already yawned a few times is accompanied by Kotonoha to their bedroom upstairs before she returned back to see me out on my way.

Kotonoha stay still in front of her door house as she looked at the back of his boyfriend who is on his way to return home.

Her gaze never left Jovanna for a single second until he is no longer on her sight.

....

Jovanna returned back to his home when the clock already hit past 10.

Unlocking the front gate and the door of his own house before locked them again, He entered the compound and found that his parents is already on their bedroom.

Well, Jovanna already called home before when he is taking a bath in Katsura family house and told his parents that he will be coming home very late as he will attend Kotonoha's Debut tonight so his parents didn't need to wait on him back at home.

After washing his own face, hands and feet, Jovanna is going upstairs to his own bedroom.

After changing from his current clothes to a comfortable sleep wear, Jovanna tucked in his bed and fallen asleep, calling it a day.

Coincidentally, the moment Jovanna have fallen asleep is at the same time as when Kotonoha have also hit the bed and slumbering on it.

Both the man and the girl entered the land of dreams at the same time, although the dreams they have is not the same.

If so, How did you celebrate it?

Did you just celebrated it like a usual birthday party, or did you have some kinds of traditional or even religious ritual added in too? 🤩🎂🎁

Here in Phillipines, we celebrated The Debut a bit differently than any other countries.

While the girls still celebrated their coming of age on their 18th birthday as their Debut, the man have it different.

Although Filipino Man also reached legal maturity at the age of 18, we mark our own Debut on our 21st Birthday instead, with way less formal celebration compared to the girls or even having none of it at all 😅🎂🎉
