10 Chapter 10 : Exams

"I wish to graduate," I boldly declared, causing a ripple of surprise and curiosity among the academy staff and students.

The receptionist, recovering from the initial shock, hesitated before responding.

"Graduation typically follows the completion of a course. Are you sure you want to graduate before even starting?" she inquired.

"I am aware," I replied without any trouble. "I believe I have the skills to be a Breeder already. Spending years studying here is a waste of my time."

Uncertain about how to handle this weird situation, the receptionist decided to escalate the matter to the academy higher-ups.

"Hello, Vice President," I overheard as the receptionist explained the situation on the phone.

As she made the call, I patiently waited, confident in my decision. The conversation on the other end unfolded, with the vice president of the academy being briefed about my unconventional request

The details of their conversation faded into the background as I focused on the impending exam.

The Breeder course is known for its flexibility, which allows individuals to complete it at their own pace. While some spent years immersed in study, while others a mere year. I don't need to say the name of the renowned assistant of Professor Oak, most of the fans in previous life knew him.

Much less in this world. He completed this course and multiple others by the age of 9, being the youngest breeder in Johto and then the World.

Back to the point, this flexibility was the reason I had arrived early. Each year the entrances and graduation take place at the same time, right after the Indigo League.

After about an hour of controlled chaos, the receptionist guided me into a room filled with students of varying ages. -From those with white hair, indicating years of experience, to the youngest, a 16-year-old prodigy from the Joy family with a distinctive pink ponytail. A member of the Jenny clan was also present, but none were as young as me.

Entering the room with a smirk, I exuded confidence, my back straight and head held high. My age had sparked whispers and gossip from the gathered students.

------Theory Exam hall----

The tension in the examination room was solid as I, along with the other exam entrants, awaited the arrival of the examiners. The air felt heavy with anticipation, reminiscent of the national board exams from my previous life.

The trio of examiners soon made their entrance, casting an authoritative aura over the room.

Among them was Joy, her expertise likely in Pokémon health and care. The second was a white-haired old man in a lab coat, a seasoned researcher by the look of him. Last but not least, the vice president of the academy, Jason, had served under Giovanni during the Kanto-Johto war.

Their combined experience made them an intimidating trio for us.

"Welcome, candidates," Joy began, her voice carrying a soothing yet professional tone. "I am Examiner Joy, specializing in Pokémon health. This is Dr. Oswald, our esteemed researcher, and Mr. Jason, the vice president of the academy. Before we proceed, let me outline the rules of this examination."

She proceeded to explain the strict regulations governing the examination, emphasizing the importance of integrity and adherence to the set guidelines. The theoretical portion would test our knowledge of Pokémon breeding techniques, health, and nutrition, while the practical segment would assess our hands-on skills in caring for and breeding Pokémon.

Once the rules were established, we were swiftly teleported to the examination room, where each desk held a questionnaire. As I perused the questions, a mix of easy and challenging queries greeted me. Some were straightforward, testing basic knowledge, while others delved into advanced breeding techniques and health assessments.

Undeterred, I began answering each question with confidence, drawing from my experience as a breeder but soon some tougher questions required slight help from AI to answer.

{Scanning the questionnaire.

Breeder Course Examination Questionnaire

Section A: Fundamentals of Pokémon Breeding

Define the term "Egg Group" in Pokémon breeding and provide an example of two Pokémon species sharing the same Egg Group.

2. Explain the significance of Nature in breeding and how it influences a Pokémon's stats. Give examples of Natures that boost and hinder specific stats.

3. Elaborate on the concept of Inherited Abilities in Pokémon breeding. Provide a scenario where breeding for abilities becomes crucial.

Section B: Advanced Breeding Techniques Discuss the process of chain breeding and its applications in acquiring desired moves in Pokémon offspring. Provide an example with two Pokémon species.

Section C: Pokémon Health and Nutrition Identify common symptoms of Pokémon ailments and suggest appropriate remedies. Discuss the importance of regular health check-ups for breeding Pokémon.

7. Create a balanced diet plan for a Pokémon undergoing intensive training. Consider factors such as type, activity level, and overall health.

Section D: Practical Breeding Assessment In a controlled breeding environment, demonstrate the correct procedure for introducing a Destiny Knot to enhance inheritance in Pokémon eggs.

9. Given a pair of Pokémon with desired Egg Moves, outline a breeding plan to produce offspring with the target moves.

Section E: Case Study Analyze a hypothetical case where a breeder encounters challenges in maintaining the health and well-being of a Pokémon during the breeding process. Propose solutions and preventive measures.

Note: This questionnaire is designed to assess the theoretical knowledge in the field of Pokémon breeding. Good luck!

-----------------x------------------}

The easy questions allowed the answerer to showcase a solid foundation, while the tougher ones tested the depth of the understanding. While I would have passed the exam without AI with its help the result is sure to be a perfect score.

Question after question, I moved the pencil with a fluidity that reflected my experience as an illegal breeder in Bharatsa. Well, it will soon be Legal anyhow.

Breeding intricacies, health indicators, and nutrition requirements were dissected and answered with a blend of practical know-how and theoretical understanding.

As I neared the end of the questionnaire, I saw the clock and saw there was still an hour left. I waited no longer and left the room by informing the examiner.

"I am done with the exam."

The stern faces of the examiners gave away no clues, leaving their thoughts a mystery to me but their thoughts are not necessary for me.

With the theoretical examination completed, I awaited the practical segment, playing with the Little Weedle as he hung from my outstretched hand.

---------Practical Exams, Waiting Hall-------

As the other applicants joined the waiting room, I observed the exhaustion in their eyes, a testament to the intensity of the examination process. The examiners wasted no time, leading us swiftly to the expansive open grounds where the next phase of the breeder examination would take place.

The open grounds were filled with trainers and breeders, each assigned a specific task based on their specialization. Breeders instead of becoming general breeders, can be specialized breeders for specific types of Pokemon.

For example, Gym leaders are type-breeders. The Cerulean gym leader must be a Water Breeder. While the MooMoo Ranches have only a Miltank Breeder.

The vice president, Jason, stood at the center, as a figure of authority overseeing the proceedings. In his hands were seventeen pokéballs, each containing a representative Pokémon of the league-approved types.

Rotomdex records this.

"Aye, Aye sir."

Jason threw the 17 balls as the following Pokemon were released.

Normal: Slaking

Fire: Vulpix

Water: Magikarp

Grass: Bulbasaur

Electric: Jolteon.

Ice: Vanillite

Fighting: Machop

Poison: Ekans

Ground: Sandshrew

Flying: Spearow

Psychic: Abra and Alakazam

Bug: Caterpie

Rock: Geodude

Ghost: Haunter

Dragon: Dragonite

Dark: Sneasel

Steel: Skarmory

Fuck, a Dragonite and a Vanillite. They truly outdone themselves in gathering a variety of Pokemon based on rarity conforming to the 17 types. Not to mention some have double typing.

Without a moment's respite, the vice president addressed the assembled candidates, his voice carrying authority and expectation. "Pokémon-specific breeders, gather in the designated corner. Type-specific breeders, prepare to demonstrate your breeding expertise for your assigned types. Comprehensive breeders, your challenge is to showcase your knowledge across all seventeen types. Utilize the provided scanning equipment and submit your breeding plans before my lunch arrives. The clock is ticking; begin."

The open grounds buzzed with activity as trainers dispersed to their respective areas. Pokémon-specific breeders formed clusters around their chosen Pokémon, discussing and strategizing. Meanwhile, type-specific breeders scattered across the grounds, each focused on their designated type.

For me, a comprehensive breeder, the task was to demonstrate proficiency in breeding for all seventeen types.

The scanning equipment is the most valuable asset to the applicants. It provided detailed insights into the Pokémon's stats, moves, and potential breeding outcomes.

Unfortunately for rest, I had them beaten in that regard.

The floating Rotomdex diligently scanned each Pokémon, capturing details from various angles. It was a scene of controlled chaos as some trainers struggled with unruly Pokémon, while others grappled with Haunters' mischievous pranks.

Ignoring the distracted commotion around me, I calmly noted down the information, utilizing the advanced scanning capabilities of Rotomdex. The skeptical glances from fellow applicants, who accused me of cheating, were silenced by Nurse Joy's matter-of-fact response.

"A Pokémon breeder always brings his equipment with him. Just so you know, most of you lost some points for the lack of equipment," Nurse Joy stated, emphasizing the importance of preparation in the breeding field.

As if to underscore her point, other applicants hastily retrieved their bulky equipment or summoned their Pokémon to mediate the situation with the unruly Pokemon.

The open grounds buzzed with activity, a mix of strategies and chaos as the breeders adapted to the exam challenges.

I noticed the Joy girl, seemingly unfazed by the commotion, making her way towards the trees.

Intrigued, I followed her to discover a variety of berry trees, each serving a purpose in crafting the ideal diet for Pokémon. The realization struck me – a breeder should not only possess the skills to breed but also be capable of creating a suitable diet for Pokémon.

"Fuck."

I immediately started collecting the berries and metals provided to make the poke block and food.

In a hurried frenzy, I gathered the necessary ingredients and started crafting Pokeblocks tailored for each of the 17 Pokémon. Exhaustion clawed at me, but the urgency of the task propelled me forward.

To ensure the efficacy of the Pokeblocks, I even revisited the taste profiles of each Pokémon, incorporating their preferences into the mix.

As the exhaustion threatened to overwhelm me, the commitment to the task kept me going. Rotomdex, ever diligent, assisted in the post-feeding scans to measure the immediate effects on the Pokémon. The data would provide crucial insights into the success of the dietary plan and its impact on their well-being.

During this intense pressure, the laid-back Dragonite surprised me by requesting a massage. The pressure was so great that I just noticed the other applicants somehow coming to make the poke-bocks.

Despite the exhaustion, a wry smile tugged at the corners of my lips as I obliged the dragon Pokemon, not knowing whether these examiners had any other hidden tests.

As I moved from one Pokémon to another, feeding them the custom-made Pokeblocks and attending to their post-feeding needs.

The sun arched across the sky, casting a warm glow on the grounds. The deadline approached steadily, and I maintained focus, determined to showcase the depth of my breeding skills.

As the final scan was completed, I carefully organized my findings and breeding plans, ready to submit them for evaluation.

The designated submission area became a hub of activity as breeders handed in their plans, some with expressions of confidence, others with a hint of apprehension.

With the submission completed. I breathed a sigh of relief.

"Clap, clap. Well done! Applicants the exam is hereby over. Now enjoy the food."

Soon a table filled with a myriad delicacy was teleported to the open space. My stomach agreed with the sight.

GRUMBLE
