23 First Gym Battle

BTW should I reveal what Pokemon each Gym leader will have before he fights them, or would it be better for all of you to get surprised when it happens? Because I already have the teams for every Gym leader in a separate Doc currently, so tell me what you think.

(Ash POV)

Walking to the front doors the first obvious thing was the simple design of the building, it is both bland and charming for a rock Gym. Getting to the front doors as I push on the doors, it is made very obvious that they are much heavier and open very slowly.

As soon as I walked in the entire room was dark, I could barely see in front of myself until a voice came out of the dark.

"Who goes there?" asked a deep yet soft voice out of the dark. Followed by the lights turning on and there he was Brock, he wore an orange t-shirt, a lime green cargo vest with four pockets, a dark brown belt with a gold buckle and dark red pockets, brown jeans, and blue-gray sneakers with white trim.

"I'm Ash from Pallet Town and I have come to challenge you," Ash said that there was a visible twitch in his eye before he calmed himself.

"I assume this is your first Gym battle.." He said, receiving a nod from Ash. "Gym battles are different from regular battles, they are to mold the newest generation. There are special rules."

Ash nodded and Brock got up, "Your Pokemon is currently in its cutest stage you cannot win."

"How about you say that after we battle, I'm not dumb enough to come here if I wasn't sure I could win."

"Suit yourself, as a Gym leader I have to accept any and all Gym challenges," Brock said as he hit the mechanism for the Rocky field to come out. "This will be a 4 on 4 battle, only the challenger will be allowed to switch their Pokemon, the first person to beat the opponent's Pokemon will be the winner."

As he said that he went to his belt, which had 4 Pokeballs on it, and grabbed the first Pokeball sending out a Grey Pokemon with two arms and a face, "Geo" said the Geodude.

"Bellsprout your up," Ash said as he released the plant.

Brock nodded at Ash's choice of Pokemon before he focused, "Geodude use Tackle." Brock commanded as Geodude rushed at Bellsprout recklessly.

"Bellsprout lets slow them down, use Stun Spore then Growth." As Ash commanded, Bellsprout spit out this Yellowish powder and with Geodude rushing at Bellsprout, he couldn't react in time and got Paralyzed, followed by Bellsprout starting to absorb the little light in the building.

"Geodude!" Brock said as he turned to Ash, "Impressive, but not good enough. Geodude Defence Curl and Rollout." Geodude rolled up and started spinning and with the added boost even while Paralyzed he was still incredibly fast and madly rushed at Bellsprout.

Ash smiles as he commands, "Now Bellsprout, use Vine whip to plant yourself in place and brace yourself." Bellsprout heard this and planted himself into the ground with his roots and vines.

Brock could tell Ash was planning something but he couldn't do anything to stop Geodude, as he connected with Bellsprout, but he didn't even make the Plant budge and due to his ability Geodude became drowsy.

"Now Bellsprout bring him down and uses Wrap," Ash commanded as the vines Bellsprout planted came out from all sides like a forest grabbing Geodude, Razing it into the air Belsprout started squeezing and slamming Geodude into Rocks until he fell asleep.

At that point it was over, even if Geodude could still fight Bellsprout could simply continue throwing him and puting him to sleep until he was unable to battle, so Brock chose to return Geodude effectively forfeiting Geodude, "Impressive tactics but that was only the first, how will you do against the second."

Brock released his second Pokemon a Kabuto. Ash, already knowing of this Pokemon, recalled Bellsprout and sent out Oddish. Getting ready to continue the battle.

"Oddish get ready, use Poison Powder on the ground!" Ash commanded.

"Kabuto dodge then go in for a Rock slide." Hearing this the small Pokemon went running and jumping over dodging the purple traps and throwing Rocks from the debris hitting the small weed.

But Ash smiled seeing the opining, "Oddish now use Leech seed to stop him then Absorb." Hearing this, Oddish's head leaves releced 3 seeds that stuck themselves onto Kabuto and latched him onto the ground, followed by an x4 Absorb, recovering most of the damage he received, then recovering the rest from the seeds.

Brock was worried at this point, Kabuto couldn't take another hit like that, and Leech Seed put him on a timer. "Start spamming Rock slide now!."

Yellow was watching from the sidelines seeing this battle play out, but she wasn't the only one. By her, 9 other children were watching from the sidelines all looking worried and some looking like they were going to cry.

Some of them seemed to want to jump but were stopped by a kid who seemed like the oldest and looked the most like Brock, Forrest.

But on the other side of the stadium, one man was sitting alone, with a familiar fake beard staring at the battle. It was Flint debating about what he should do once the battle finished.

Kabuto had fallen, he had tried what he could but eventually fell to Leech seed and Absorb, leaving Oddish almost in full health. Brock returned Kabuto and sent out the next Pokemon, Rhyhorn.

"Rhyhorn uses a horn attack now" Brock commanded, sending Rhyhorn dashing toward Oddish.

"Oddish, jump over then use Leech seed." Hearing this Oddish ran forward and jumped high doing a backflip and throwing Leech seed onto Rhyhorn, then landing on the other side.

"Rhyhorn turn around and use horn attack point blank." Rhyhorn heard this and turned to hit a horn attack that sent the small Pokemon flying, but befor he could the beines sprouted and forced his head to move up allowing Oddish to dodge.

"That's enough you did your Job," Ash said as he returned Oddish and pulled out Poliwag, sending him out.

"Rhyhorn don't let them gain any ground, uses a horn attack now!" Brock said trying to find out what Ash was planing.

"Poliwag, use your tail on the ground and use Bubble Beam." Hearing this Poliwag slammed his tail into the ground leting him bounce above Rhyhorn and land on the other side releasing a Bubble Beam causing serious damage, along with the residual Leech seed.

"Rhyhorn are you alright!" Brock said looking concerned for his pokemon

Rhyhorn got up, albeit just barely, and noded with a loud, "Rhy~"

Brock nodded and looked forward. "Let's continue, use smackdown then stomp"

Rhyhorn rushed forward hitting Poliwag with a barrage of kicks into stomps.

Ash smiled once again, "Perfect now that he's close, use Hypnosis." Poliwag heard this and threw a beam from his spiral stomach, and Rhyhorn didn't have a chance to dodge, so he was out like a light.

"Rhyhorn Wake up!" Brock yelled, but it was useless, the large Pokemon was out cold.

"Hit him while he's down, use Bubble Beam," Poliwag threw a storm of Bubbles at the Rhyhorn knocking him out without even letting him get up.

"Return," Brock said as he returned the Rhyhorn, "Impressive, not many people can get this far, much less on their first try but I still have one final Pokemon. GO Onix!" Brock yelled out as he sent out a large rock snake.

"Poliwag, try another Hypnosis," Ash called out, not entirely expecting it to work.

"Onix Rock polish then Dodge" Onix moved through the ground smoothing out its body becoming smoother and faster, easily able to Dodge the Spiral energy.

"Now Bind." Onix rushed out and grabbed Poliwag and started squeezing, forcing Ash to return the tadpole.

Ash returned to him and turned to Pikachu, "Do you remember the plan?" he received a nod from Pikachu, "Well then you're up."

Brock looked slightly disappointed, "You're using your electric Pokemon, Why? Wouldn't it be better to send out Bellsprout again?"

'Just as planned he thinks I am getting cocky' Ash thought as a smile crept onto his face, "Pikachu iron tail' Pikachu started running forward and started scaling the large rock as his tail turned silver, but before Brock could react Onix got hit with Iron tail on the face.

"I see you sent in a Pokemon you know I would underestimate before hitting Onix with a powerful Steel move. However it won't work again, Onix Dig."

Onix Shook off the damage and dug down into the ground out of sight.

"Pikachu uses an iron tail on the ground." Pikachu jumped and smashed into the ground shaking the rock snake in the ground and disorienting it just a bit.

As he came out he bashed into Pikachu and wrapped him in his stone body and started constricting.

'Time for anime BS.' "Pikachu now uses Thundershock" Ash commanded, as he threw a bolt of electricity and shot it at Onix's head, and missed.

"You can't even hit Onix, you have no hope of winning," Brock said before he saw Ash wasn't worried but smiling.

"He wasn't aiming for you"

Brock was confused before he looked at where the electricity hit, it was the sprinklers, spraying water everywhere, including onto Onix. The added water weakened Onix allowing Pikachu to escape.

"Now Pikachu finish this with one more Iron Tail," Ash commanded as Pikachu started running along Onix's body to its head and hit Onix directly on the horn. And Onix was sent barreling down.

The spectators were silent before Yellow got up and started screaming, "Congratulations Ash and Pikachu you won. That was amazing!"

Brock returned Onix to his Pokemon and smiled "You all did great." then he turned to Ash, "Congratulations you won, you managed to beat all my Pokemon on your first try. And you seemed to have trained all of your Pokemon well, especially teaching your Pikachu a steel move. But I have to ask. Did you plan everything before you got here?"

Ash smiled, "Yeah, I prepared each of my Pokemon to counter each of yours, when you literally upload all your battles for anyone to see, it's pretty easy to form a strategy"

Brock nodded and reached into his Pocket, "I'm impressed, and as a sign of your victory you have earned this. The boulder badge" he said as he held out a small gray circular badge in his hand.

"With this, you have officially taken the first step, however, it will only get harder from here, the next Gyms are much stronger than me."

"I will be prepared just like I was with you," Ash said

Brock nodded, "If I can tell you the truth I don't like battling, I much prefer raising Pokemon instead of making them fight." Brock said as his siblings approached him looking sad from the loss. "My dream is to become a Pokemon breeder, but my parents are gone and my family comes first."

"I understand," Ash said as he saw someone from the other side of the stadium approach them. "But I think you should say that to someone else."

Brock looked confused as he turned around and saw Flint taking off his cap and fake beard, revealing a nearly identical look alike to Brock.

"Father," Brock said, receiving a surprised gasp from all of his siblings and Yellow.

"Yes, when I left to become a trainer I couldn't make it, I failed so badly I couldn't bring myself to face any of you. I stayed here watching all of you grow, I wanted to talk to you all but I couldn't bring myself after all the pain I caused."

Flint wiped a tear from his eye and looked towards Brock, "You should follow your dream, I spent so much time away from all of you, so it is time I act like a Father again."

"First I have some things to say to you," Brock said as he approached Flint.

"I understand, after everything you must have some things you want to get out so I will not stop you," Flint said as he was expecting to be punched.

"Here," Brock handed him a Wool and needle, Flint looked confused before Brock started explaining everything he needed to take care of; their favorite food, hobby, and quirks.

After Brock finished Flint looked like he was barely keeping track of everything, but Brock said one more thing "And call Mom, she went out to look for you".
