Entrance of Pewter City

Lan was stretching his arms and back. He and his pokemon were traversing the Viridian Forrest throughout the whole day. These two worked well together throughout the entire trip. Growlithe is more of the physical attacker while Vulpix seems to be more comfortable battling in the back.

There were many different Pokemon that he had found in the Forrest. He was fortunate that most of them were Grass and Bug-type Pokemon which Growlithe and Vulpix had the advantage. Lan had to mainly rely on them unless they found a pond or lake for Horsea to battle.

He had captured some Pokemon that he had found in there. They were common but they all caught his interest somehow. Some of them had different coloring patterns or size differents than their common counterparts. Nothing too major that one would see unless they looked at them closely. Currently, Lan had all of his Pokemon eight slots full

The pokemon that he was currently carrying were:

Growlithe

Vulpix

Horsea

Goldeen

Nidoran (male)

Nidoran (female)

Sentret

Spinarak

Lan was very happy because he was able to catch both genders of Nidoran because he saved them from a group of Beedrills. But that was both beside the point due to Nidorans nature it is hard to find them separated from their groups.

Lan looked at the view of Pewter City. It was even larger than that of Viridian City. It was surrounded by mountains on all sides. All the roads were made of stone and there where boulders everywhere. He needed to go to the Pokemon Center in order to rest for a while.

After walking through the city for like 30 minutes Lan finally arrived at the Pokemon Center.

"Man this Pokemon Center is huge. Its like five stories tall. I hope I can get a room if the building is this big than that means there must be a lot of Trainer business here."

He entered the Center and went directly to the Desk with another Nurse Joy.

"Hello, Nurse Joy would you be able to take a look at my Pokemon?"

Nurse Joy was in a daze when she looked at Lan. He was tall and handsome. She could see his muscular figure from the way the shirt hung on him. But what attracted her was his deep golden eyes.

Lan was looking at her waving his hand trying to get her attention. Lan didn't realize that his eyes had changed from a light gold to a deep gold. His whole persona seemed to be refined and created a pleasant atmosphere.

But Nurse Joy was true to her professional nature and quickly snapped out of her daze and replied with a smile "Yes sure give them here I will take great care of them."

Lan smiled and handed over all eight of his Pokeballs. Nurse Joy was confused for a second before asking " You have eight Pokemon? Trainers are only allowed to contain a maximum of six. Other the Transfer system will send the extra Pokemon caught to either your Pokemon Storage Box or a Lab that sponsors you." she said with a stern tone.

[\\Authors Note// This transfer System I don't know much about it and it doesn't make sense technically but it is also shown in season 1 of the anime. I will use it just as anime and won't change it. It won't be as realistic but you know... Hate me or something but having like 12 pokemon would be unrealistic if traveling and needed to find food for all the Pokemon]

Lan nodded and understood what she was getting at and swiftly replied "Generally that is the case but currently I have special permission for it. Here is my ID to look it up, I am a representative of Oak Labatories from Palat town."

She nodded and preceded to take the ID and scan it. Lan's information popped up and everything was confirmed. Nurse Joy smiled and apologized. She quickly brought them to Chancy to start to heal. She went back to Lan at the front desk.

Nurse Joy " Sorry again for reprimanding you"

Lan "No problem... but as compensation can you talk about the things happening in town? Is there any events or anything I should visit while I am here?"

Nurse Joy responded " Oh yes definitely. Let me first start with that Pewter City is known for its rocks and ores that are found here. There are many Rock and Ground-type Pokemon here that help workers in the mines. We have many famous bakeries and taverns around here that are well known for their bread. Since you are a researcher I would guess that you would enjoy the Pewter City Museum where you can learn about the History of the town and Ancient Pokemon."

Lan asked " Ancient Pokemon"

"Yes, Ancient Pokemon well more like Ancient Fossils and relics. Some fossils have been mined in the mountains around Pewter City are put on display there. There are always guests and residents that go to the museum for seminars from scientist."

Wow, that does sound interesting I think I will have to check it out. Also, could I get a room for the next two nights?

"Yes, here I put you down for room 408. You swipe your trainer ID to unlock the door."

Thank you so much I will be back a little later to pick up my Pokemon.

Later that Day Lan went back to get all of his Pokemon.

He had been thinking about his Pokemon team. He knew that Pewter City gym specializes in Rock and Ground Types. His current main Pokemon could not handle this as they were now. He had to think of a solution here pretty soon before he challenged the gym.

Lan had first thought Horsea could help him out in this gym but he was mistaken. He now learned that there was a difference between Water Pokemon. Most water Pokemon are not as amphibious as some others and need a body of water to be able to battle. Horsea leaned towards needing a body of water but could still fight on land for short durations of time.

These types of pokemon are unable to battle on land and are difficult to train every day. Some water pokemon such as Gyarados, Staru, Starmie, Krabby, and others can battle on land without needing much water present but their time is limited. Lan was a researcher before and studied pokemon behavior but had not really dealt much with battling Pokemon.

Lan needed to sort out things out so he doesn't feel that he is neglecting a certain pokemon by bringing it along with hopeless situations. So he made a decision.

Lan then called Professor Oak on the PC in the lobby.

Oak"Oh hello, Lan it seems you have already called me. You left without saying anything. Daisy was angry about it and is muttering something about revenge"

"Ahh okay, Good day to you Professor. Yeah well, I am not that great at goodbyes and your family was having a moment. Anyways let us get past that.

I have some Pokemon to transfer to you. All of them except one are for your lab. The Horsea is mine. I figured that It would be hard to take care of it and help is getting stronger if I am not near water all the time.

So I am going to send it back with this group of Pokemon. That way it can battle and train by itself at the large lake behind the lab and I will request it when needed." said Lan

The professor sighed " It is sometimes like this for trainers. Actually, Horsea can help one of my studies so this is beneficial. I'll make sure that it does well. What are the others that you will be sending?

Well, I'll be sending Goldeen, Nidoran that is male, Nidoran that is female, a Sentret and a Spinarak. So that makes five Pokemon. All of them are slightly different than the Kanto and Johto Standard."

"Great I am excited, this is just amazing. All of these Pokemon are perfect. This is exactly what I was hoping for with your deal. I will send money right away and initiate the transfer of Pokemon now. You just need to place their Pokeballs on the transfer machine one by one."

Lan did as the Professor asked and he sent all 6 pokemon to the Professor.

The Professor was so excited that he opened all the Pokeballs right then and there. (except for Goldeen and Horsea of course).

Oak"Well, Lan thanks for this. Also, I told your Dad about your journey he sent over a Pokemon for you to have on your team. He said you are from Hoenn so you should have at least one native Pokemon on your team. I'll send it over now. I just sent it and I will have to call you later the Sentret just walked out the door... Bye"

Zap ... <Beep>

The machine flashed and a Pokeball was left in the transfer machine.

"What Pokemon would Dad send me?" Lan asked himself.

Lan pressed the button and released the Pokeball...
