41 Chapter 41: E-Class

"What Pokémon is number 151?"

A blank screen appeared before them all, filled with question marks. The only words before them were '151' but no information about the Pokémon the number was assigned to.

Nessa and Misty both had severe looks on their faces as they looked at Jason. They, too, wanted an answer since they knew nothing of it. Misty's father had always said he knew nothing about it. And although Nessa was not from Kanto, she knew a blank space was left in the Kanto Dex that had yet to be filled.

Many trainers knew of this and questioned the league but never got any answers. And unlike other Legendary Pokémon, which had countless stories about them, this one was a mystery to all. The three trainers looked at Jason, hoping for an answer.

The Gym Leader looked at the three trainers and sighed. "I don't know." However, his words brought disappointment to the girls while Aeron just frowned. "And it is not because I don't want to tell you about it, but I don't know what Pokémon that is. In fact, not even Prof. Oak, the maker of Pokedex, knows about it."

"How is it possible?" Misty could not help but ask. "If he knows nothing about it, why would he even leave a space for whatever that is? Shouldn't Kanto have 150 Pokémon then?"

Nessa agreed with her friend. "Since there is not even a spec of knowledge about its existence, shouldn't it be removed from the dex? Maybe Prof. Oak made a mistake?"

"Prof. Oak is not a fool." Aeron shook his head at the words of the two girls. "He must have had his reasons to do what he did." He turned toward Jason. "Do you know anything?"

"No." Jason just shook his head. "The only person who can answer your questions is Prof Oak since no one else knows why he keeps the Number 151 even though there is no information about it."

Aeron nodded his head in understanding.

"Does that mean there is a Pokémon we have yet to find? But how do we even know it is out there?" asked Nessa. And even though the three young trainers were surprised at the revelation, there was a small grin on their faces.

There was a Pokémon out there that no one knew anything about. What if they were the first to catch it? What if they were the first to learn about it? They were Pokémon trainers as well as adventurers who were on a journey. The knowledge of the unknown excited them all.

'Youth.' The Gym Leader shook his head but would not tell them otherwise. He was the same when he discovered this and wanted to be the first to find that unknown Pokémon.

"But I can tell you one thing." Jason's words brought the attention back to him. Even though Aeron squeezed out the reality behind the Legendaries from him, he still felt bad for not giving out any helpful information about what the boy had asked. "All Legendary Pokémon are real."

Aeron, Misty and Nessa gulped as they heard those words. It was one thing knowing about it and another getting a confirmation. Even though they had guessed as much from Jason's previous comments, it still had an impact when he said it so explicitly. And from these words, they knew one more detail...

All Legendary Pokémon are real.

"A-All of them?" Misty could not help but ask once again. Her father refused to tell her such things and said to find out herself. She was just as shocked as the other two.

"The stories might be false and some made up, but the Pokémon mentioned in those stories are real and very strong." He looked at the three young trainers before him. "Pokedex was officially given to trainers 40 years ago, and since then, we have made much progress. New information and many other things were made known to us, but even then, we know nearly nothing about Pokémon."

Jason took out his Pokedex and placed it beside Aeron before a holographic screen appeared before them. There were eight Pokemon displayed on the screen.

"There are eight evolutions of Eevee, yet we only know how to evolve an Eevee in Flareon, Jolteon and Vaporeon. Other six? We find them in the wild, while some evolved for 'unknown' reasons. Even when researchers used different Evolutions stones, they yielded no results." Jason closed the screen before another screen opened before them with a photo of another Pokémon. "Politoed. A Water-type Pokémon found in Jhoto. Researchers speculate it is an Evolution line of Poliwag, but no one knows how it comes to be."

Then he gave a lot of other examples, such as: How did Kingdra evolve from Seadra? Why does some Milotic evolve with Prism Stone while others don't? And many more.

"We know a lot about Pokémon, yet we know nothing." Jason shook his head as he sighed. "But that does not mean you should be discouraged. Since these things are still a mystery, isn't our job as Pokémon Trainers to solve them?"

The three young trainers nodded as they all thought about the different mysteries of this world. Their conversation continued for a while, and no one noticed how the time had passed until they finished their dinner.

"Here, these are for you." Jason took out two TMs and handed them to Aeron. "Every time a trainer wins a Gym Battle, they win two TMs and 10,000 P$. The money should be transferred to your account already."

Aeron did not shy away from taking the rewards meant for him and looked at the two TMs. A pleasant smile appeared on his face.

"What are they?" Misty asked, and Nessa hurried over to see.

"You just happened to need them," Nessa said as she looked at the two TMs, and Aeron also agreed.

"Thank you." Aeron gave Jason a small nod before adding. "But I think we should leave now. We are starting our journey tomorrow and need all the rest."

"Alright."

The three trainers said their goodbyes to the Gym Leader before they walked out of the Greenwich City Gym, which was also Jason's residence.

"Are we leaving early?" asked Misty, curious about their plans for tomorrow while Nessa wordlessly held Aeron's arms and walked along.

"If we can," Aeron answered while glancing at Nessa from the corner of his eye. "Florian Town is off of route 3, between Pewter City and Mount Moon. We will backtrack to Pewter City and then to my hometown."

"Wait, then, are we going to follow Route 3>4>9>10 to Lavender Town instead of Route 26>16>7>8?" The orange-haired girl asked since it would be better to travel through Route 3 rather than coming back to Route 26. She knew of Aeron's plan to reach Lavender Town and thus tried to guess which Route they would take next.

"Yup. We will stay for one day in Florian Town and then go to Mount Moon." He turned toward Misty and could see a smile on her face. "We will go to Cerulean City after that."

"I already miss my dad and crazy sisters." Misty would have never said that in front of her family, or they would start calling her a baby. "Wait...that means we will be meeting your mom and dad as well..."

Nessa, who was silently listening to their conversation, perked up, and the two girls looked each other in the eye. They had the same thought in their minds.

'We need to prepare.'

Aeron sat in his room, meditating on the bed, while Abra sat across him, absorbing his Psychic Energy. Axew was beside him while Growlithe and Larvesta were on the bed. After they had returned, the trio separated and decided to meet the next day in the Pokémon Centre lobby to leave for Pewter City.

"Feeling sleepy again?"

"...ra..." Abra nodded its head as it crawled into Aeron's lap and fell asleep. At first, the sleeping tendency of his Psychic-type worried him a little, but after doing some research, he found out that this was normal behaviour of every Abra. Moreover, even when Abra line became adults, they still spent most of their time sleeping.

The reason? They were too smart and intelligent. Their bodies instinctively put them to sleep so they would not over-exert their mindscape. They would sleep and gather Psychic-type Energy until they were ready to evolve. Every time an Abra used [Teleport], it would drain some of its Psychic reserves and thus take longer to evolve.

On average, an Abra with a trainer took three to four months before it had enough energy to evolve into a Kadabra and double that to evolve into an Alakazam.

Due to him being a Psychic, Aeron was able to communicate with the yellow fox. However, it was limited to 'Yes,' 'No,' 'More,' etc. Also, they were not exchanging words, but information and thus, 'Yes' in Aeron's mind would 'appear' as 'Yes' instead of him hearing Abra say 'Yes.'

He knew that absorbing his Psychic Energy was helping Abra gather energy at a very fast speed. The quality of Psychic Energy it gathered by itself paled compared to the one it absorbed from Aeron. Therefore, Aeron steadily guided his Psychic Energy into Abra even when it was asleep.

Aeron patted the sleeping Pokémon's head while he decided what to do with the two TMs he had received from Jason. He looked at the two TMs in his hand.

[TM: Sunny Day]

[TM: Light Screen]

Both of his Fire-types needed [Sunny Day] since one could make full use of its ability with it while the other had an [Innate Move] that worked under harsh sunlight. Of course, the Pokemon who got the TM would teach it to the other, but who would learn it the fastest among the two? Moreover, both of his Pokémon gave their best to win the Gym Battle...he didn't want to be biased toward one.

"That's the last thing I should worry about." Aeron smiled and shook his head. His Pokémon knew he loved them all the same...maybe Axew a little more, but that was beside the point. Even if he gave one the TM, the other would not be upset. They were one big family, and their bonds with each other were beyond these petty affairs.

'Larvesta it is.' Aeron made the decision. He would give the TM to Larvesta in the morning, and not he had to decide who give the second TM. 'Not much of a thought there.' He looked at the Pokémon sleeping in his lap. 'Abra will have it once it evolves to Kadabra.'

Once the issue of TMs was settled, Aeron took out his Pokedex and saw the changes on his Trainer License. A smile crept on his face.
