38 The Second meeting
Viridian Pokemon Centre:
We were battling in the battleground behind the Pokemon centre. Fletchinder defeated Brawly's Makuhita with great difficulty as Makuhita was two levels higher, type advantage helped me but Brawly's Poliwhirl defeated my Fletchinder instantly. He is his starter and is at level 34, he is at this level for a month and Brawly is trying hard to break into the Advanced level. The appraisal info said,

I did not expect anything less for his starter, his breeder house specifically breeds fighting type Pokemon and has a lot of money for all the TM's.
"You need more than that to beat my Poliwhirl here, bring out your strongest Pokemon," said Brawly with confidence.
I thought for a second and summoned Electrike. I can't use Krokorok in battles for three months, I shouldn't use Electrike too but she is much older and could manage this battle. I promised myself not to battle after this if not for an emergency.
"This one here is not my strongest but I can't use my starter as I have my reasons. He is too young and Electrike here has a type advantage." I said to which he looked a bit disappointed.
"Electrike, Agility. " I said.
"Poliwhirl, Rain Dance."
[Electrike, use agility again and then use snarl. I want Poliwhirl to stay close and attack instead of running around with Swift swim.] I said telepathically.
Poliwhirl with Swift swim can easily stay away from my electrike and use special attacks but now after snarl, he will surely have no choice but to use close-combat style.
I have a plan and I am not sure if it will work because I have never tried it. Electrike who completed her agility boost used Snarl but was also hit by a Scald which unluckily burnt him.
"Electrike, you are faster than Poliwhirl so don't worry and use one more snarl. We can't waste much time." I said calming the burnt Electrike. The rain eased her state if not she would take more damage.
"Poliwhirl just maintain the distance and use Protect if any electric attacks are used. Any other attack you just try to dodge, Electrike won't last much longer with that burnt state," stated Brawly calmy while smirking.
'Guerrilla tactics huh?', getting played by the same tactic I used in the trials is frustrating. I want more water to accumulate so that I can implement my plan better. Electrike is lower level than Poliwhirl and it is tough to win this without some planning.
"Electrike keep spamming thunderbolts. Let's see if he can use Protect twice in a row."
"Poliwhirl escape using Dig and hit Electrike head-on from below the ground," said Brawly.
This is making me frustrated as Dig and Protect combination is making the situation harder. I need a perfect opportunity so Electrike needs to endure, there is only one way to get past that protect.

5 minutes passed and Electrike managed to land one thunderbolt and two Snarls while Poliwhirl managed to land a super-effective dig and scald. Electrike agility boost helped her escape most of the time but she was at her end as burn damage is putting a toll on her body.
The rain started to slow down but the whole arena was covered with water.
'Now or never as it was time for my move' I thought.
[Electrike this time don't hit Poliwhirl directly as he will use Protect. The water level is around an inch high which is more than enough. Slowly pass your electricity and gradually increase it to the maximum output through the water.] I said.
"Give up, there's no way you can win this. Better to get your Electrike healed soon," said Brawly.
"Electric Pokemon are considered to be lethal in rainy weather not just for summoning thunder," I said which made Brawly confused but before he realized it, the electricity passed through the water and hit Poliwhirl who is using Protect.
Electrike did not stop his output as Poliwhirl got electrocuted with high intensity, Poliwhirl tried to escape but there was nowhere to go. Water conducts electricity and the accumulation of water on the battlefield is always a deadly sign against Electric types. That's why you need to be very careful when using Rain Dance.
Poliwhirl who got hit by the continuous passage of electricity immediately fainted, Electrike on my side saw that her opponent fainted and she too passed out.
"Seems like it's a draw," I said which made Brawly shake his head.
"No, it's my loss. I was overconfident and Electrike is not even your best pokemon," said Brawly.
"While Electrike may not be my strongest, she is the most dependable Pokemon I have. I will take this as a draw irrespective of reasons, I also realized that I need one particular move for this kind of battle. I overlooked that TM as no one tried to use hit and run tactics against me." I said with assurance.
He just mechanically nodded and we both went back to the Pokemon Centre. I need the TM taunt, I did not buy it because I underestimated its value. Maybe there was too much happening and I forgot, either way I learned something from the battle which is a big plus.
"So, where next?" I asked while walking.
"I will be going to Pallet Town tomorrow, what about you?" he asked.
"Me too, I need to meet someone there. Let's go together." I said which surprised Brawly, he happily nodded and we both submitted our Pokemon for healing.

Next-Day Afternoon:
We were in front of what can be said as a sanctuary. There was a huge laboratory in the centre and everything that surrounded it was lush and green. Anime did not do much justice to the scene in front of me, this whole place was like a mini town.
"You are going to Oak's laboratory?" asked Brawly to which I nodded.
"I have some work with Prof. Oak, lets go," I said dragging Brawly with me before he asks questions.
Yesterday, I thought of introducing Carbink but gave up the idea. I will befriend Carbink after this deal with Oak is complete so we both walked towards the laboratory. There were some ID checks to which Brawly cleared while taking me in as a guest.
I was concentrating on my surroundings as I spotted some exotic Pokemon like Growlithe, Eevee and Vulpix. Oak is loaded for sure, so no hard feelings when squeezing his money to death.
I thought of holding back a bit not to sound too dependent on him but after witnessing all the Pokemon around, I decided to go all out with my demands.
I don't know how these rare Pokemon are protected but I am sure it is because of his Alakazam or other psychic pokemon. I heard a psychic pokemon can scan an area for unknown life signals. So, that's also on my list of things to learn.
Alakazam would have reported my arrival to Oak by now. Me and Brawly were on a dirt jeep, this is the only way to get to the lab and security here seems to be strict. We were stopped every 300 metres for a quick check.
After thirty minutes of the ride, we were finally in front of a massive laboratory. From afar it looked huge enough but now this seems to be the largest building I have seen since I arrived in this world.
"Come, Professor might be inside. I can't take you if you don't have an appointment even if I am the champion. You can look around the outer laboratory but to go to the core part where Professor conducts his research, you need professor's permission." said Brawly.
"Don't worry, you go in. I have my ways and I am sure he was informed of my arrival. " I said as I could perceive the psychic fluctuations directed at me.
Brawly nodded and left, I looked towards the direction of the fluctuations and released my psychic powers out. Suddenly, the area behind me warped and a pale yellow fox appeared.
[You have arrived!!! took you faster than expected. How was the experience in the largest and notorious organization on this planet?] asked Alakazam.
[It has its ups and downs, but isn't the league the largest 'Organisation'.] I said in a calmer tone.
[Right, but the league won't accept the fact as they proclaim themselves as the government. It's good to see you but why I am getting the smell of a powerful psychic Pokemon?] asked Alakazam suspiciously.
[I accidentally met a slowking on the trial island. Nothing much happened, he just saved me and left.] I said.
[Hmm, Slowking you say? I think I know who that is. Anyways, you seem to have gone through a lot of changes. I could perceive the breakthrough in psychic rank and why are you wearing a disguise here. You can remove that, no one can spy on you in my presence.] said Alakazam.
[Dont bother, let it stay. I took one hour to get the makeup done. I can't go through that process again.] I said to which he nodded.
[How about we go meet the professor? You came for a reason, right?] said Alakazam.
I nodded at that while slowly using appraisal. I wanted to see how a Master level pokemon looks like,

Guard split easily covers his low defences and rest everything is too overpowered.
Alakazam immediately teleported me to a room that looked similar to a lab.
[Stay here for fifteen minutes while Prof. Oak finishes his research work.] said alakazam and immediately disappeared.
I looked around the room and inspected it. There were weird equipment and electronic items that I never saw. This room had a lot of books so I immediately browsed them, I lost interest in the next second as everything was bio related.
If there's one subject I hate then it's biology. Even if it is about Pokemon, it doesn't interest me as aspiring doctors are the only ones that read those books. Probably his main library is somewhere else, I need to take a look at it as there will be much more information regarding pokemon.
While I was looking through, I came across a file, it said confidential but which file doesn't. The word confidential got me more interested so I opened it immediately,

It's funny how he thinks of taking me down if I change. I guess it is the correct way of thinking as a high-level psychic under team rocket is a big threat. What the fuck does he mean by bookworm?? I did not read that much okay? Anyways, I am relieved by the fact that the information here is all basic and nothing very important.
Why the heck is he even keeping a file like this?
"Oh!!! I see you have seen the file. That was for Agatha, I was putting some basic facts and sending them to her." said Oak startling me.
"You mean the Elite four Agatha? Why?"
"I trust her and she might help you guys if in case you have problems. She is highly specialized in Ghosts types and is very proficient with them. If I am busy with my work, you or Brawly can contact her for advice. It is also better that one more person knows about you, if in case I die then you need someone to prove that you are not a Team Rocket guy right?" he said.
I nodded in understanding while Oak took his seat. I returned the file to him and found a place to sit.
"Alakazam shared some info regarding your trial experience, seemed quite rough to be saved by a psychic drifter," said Oak.
"Yeah, I was a bit naive in thinking that a twelve-year-old would not be daring enough to kill. Was a good lesson and I have been adjusting my mindset."
"Now, let's talk about your visit and I too have a lot of questions," said the Professor while making some coffee.
