13 Story of 'The Menace'

Lunch Break:

"So what is this TroubleMaker thing?" asked Ethan in confusion.

"You see, I got into trouble on the first day because Elekid caused a Shutdown when everyone was sleeping. Probably no students noticed as the power only went out for an hour at 3 AM," I said making Ethan chuckle.

"I told you, Elekids are trouble but anyway you guys seem to get along well now, right?" he asked back.

"Yeah, ever since we met that man, Elekid seemed more aware of his power. More like, he has been humbled on day 1 but once he starts pummeling others he might be back to his overconfident personality," I said thinking about the future.

"That man? who?"

"I don't know, he had a talented Golett and seemed Huge and Bulky. He had this aura around him like he was the Supreme one," I said recalling back.

"Talented Golett and great presence? Hmmm... I think I might know who he is, but just a guess though!!," Ethan said thinking it through.

"Who?" I asked trying to confirm my earlier guesses.

"It's probably the man Arden Vickster himself, also know as "The Menace". He specializes in Ground-type Pokemon, although only two of them are primary Ground. He has been depressed about how he has no way to fly like other trainers who have flying mounts, So...." he said Ethan gulping his throat.

"So???" I ask in urging curiosity.

"You know that Golurk is one of the rare ground type Pokemon that can fly right? So, he tried searching for Golett all over the kingdom but he only found Green Grades at best. He wanted better potential ones as Goletts have only one evolution..."

"Ok!! So what did he do?" I asked back.

"He took off to the DragonSpiral Tower by infiltrating the Kingdom of Vale and then bypassing it to infiltrate the Kingdom of Everton on the far West. Just for one Pokemon he risked infiltrating two Kingdoms. But what's more crazy is that, after he got his Golett he was immediately discovered by the enemies, there was a huge battle in the Kingdom of Everton," Ethan said while taking a sip of water.

"He took down an entire battalion of an Army and escaped unscathed. The Rumours say that the entire area is a desert now, he unleashed some fierce Sandstorms which toppled the whole surface of the Iccirus city. He just got back last month and is taking a rest for around three months," he said finishing the story.

"Really? he created a desert? No way, that might be an exaggeration," I said not believing the bullshit.

I know how people in the medieval era stretch things.

"It might be an exaggeration but the fact that he defeated a battalion and escaped armies of two kingdoms unscathed speaks volumes about his raw strength. He has 6 Ground types now, think about the pure natural defence and brutal power his pokemon contain," said Ethan imagining the battle that could have happened.

"Yes but I am thinking about how he managed to escape an army, it's not like the other kingdoms have no King level trainers," I asked in doubt.

"Well if the objective was to fight then it might have been impossible but his objective was to escape. I heard he and his Pokemon are very evasive, well he has a Pokemon that can also teleport," he said defending the unbelievable story.

"Well that makes more sense but to just bypass enemy kingdoms to get a pokemon is a mad determination, I can't imagine the resolve!!" I said in admiration.

Ethan nodded at that and continued spilling information,

"Well, don't forget the Angel of our Kingdom Miss Viola Thompson, she is on par with Master Arden. She specialises in Grass and Poison types, I heard from my father that she is the most annoying foe to battle. He said, her every Pokemon can cast healing moves while critically poisoning others."

'Hmm, seems like it's not that easy to become a King Level trainer or a Champion. I have so much to improve on,' I thought while silently eating my food.

Evening (Training Grounds):

There are literally more than 30 training grounds, so it was very free to use as it was just the first day.

"Okay, it's time to show what you got Elekid," I said in an excited tone.

[Here I go then, This is my first move, ] he said rotating his arms like windmill blades.

As I watched, Elekid's body glowed white and he took off leaving a trail of dust and hitting the tree with full force.

"Great, that's a Quick attack. it's more useful than Tackle," I said looking at the smirking Elekid.

The tree seemed to have a small dent indicating it was a powerful hit.

"Okay, next," I said and Elekid immediately gave me a mean look squinting his both eyes.

I shuddered for a second and stepped back in fear, it was an instinctive reaction and I had no control over my body.

"Leer? Good, not bad. It will be useful in early growth stages," I said coming back to my senses.

"What about the electric move you talked about?" I asked in curiosity. Normally Elekid doesn't learn any electric moves until battled three or four times.

[That's what's coming next!!!] he said and intensely rotated his arms.

Then, he generated a bolt-shaped shock and released it towards the tree.

"Boom", the surface of the tree turned black while the bark fell off.

"Thundershock? Good. It's great that you learnt it ahead, normally you will learn it after battling twice or thrice," I said in encouragement. It also means Elekid is good with Electric-type energy.

"Any other moves?" I asked back expecting if he has an Egg move.

Egg moves are not like in the games. The only rule is that, both Mother and father should know the move if it has a chance of passing on to its child. The best thing about egg moves is that the Pokemon inheriting the move will have great control over that type of energy.

So if Elekid has Ice Punch as an Egg move then it means he will also have good control on Ice attacks.

[I have two more moves but how do I explain it? One of the moves seems useless] he said in embarrassment.

"Useless? There's no move that's useless, just show me!!" I said in Huge expectations.

"Elekidddd" he shouted and his both hands glowed in white light, then he hit the same tree with two rapid cross shots forming an X shape.

"Is that a Cross Chop? Great.... that's a massive move. It's a fighting type, it means you will be easily learning moves that belong to the Fighting department" I said hugging Elekid in happiness.

Elekid was surprised by my hug but then grinned with Joy. I then put Elekid on his feet and asked,

"And finally, show me that useless move you talked about," I said looking at him.

[Ok, here goes nothing,] he said raising his both hands and holding them forward.

Nothing happened for almost ten seconds but slowly I saw an invisible barrier forming around his whole body like a dome.

'What's that? Protect?'

No, the move Protect is more visible. This one seems as if it doesn't exist, it is either a Light Screen or Reflect.

[See!!!! nothing happens. It's not even like a solid barrier that stops the attacks, ] he said in embarrassment.

"No, it's even better than a barrier in some cases. I think it is a move called Light Screen, it's a rare psychic move. It halves the effect of long-range moves targeted against you and your team for a while," I said further elaborating.

[Ohhh!!! That's super cool, I am more awesome than I thought] he said flexing.

"Okay enough with your self-boasting. We need to work a lot on the timing. You took forever to set up the barrier. In the wild, we both will be dead by the time you perform it," I said toning down his overconfidence.

[Hehe, you wait till I evolve. I will perform it in half a second, ] he said not at all disappointed.

Although I want to say yes, I did not. Elekid species by nature are arrogant, I don't need to gas him up adding to what he gases himself up.

But, this is still a great surprise. Any given day, I would pick Light screen over moves like Thunder. Thunder can be worked on but barrier moves are almost impossible to learn if you do not belong to psychic Pokemon. I heard that even Royal Move tutors take millions to teach Protect and most don't have a clue on teaching Reflect or Light Screen.

"Okay, we should not only work on Light Screen but also on a move called Protect. It's very effective to your species because an Electrabuzz is low on physical defence when compared to other departments," I said explaining the details of Protect.

We had more discussions about what's our plan and the type of route we need to take.

I wanted Elekid to be a mixed player, Electrivire has a high attack but also a good special attack and speed. Not to say with Protect and light screen, he can be a good defensive player too.

The only doubt is if he will become a jack of all trades and master of none. For now, we decided to put our effort into improving the Light Screen and controlling his generated electricity.

So learning the move Charge is on cards, it's both an offensive and defensive move.

Elekid can't store the electricity he generates when rotating his hands, we can convert that in the form of charge instead. For a beginner and intermediate stage, the battle of stamina is more important than trying to master heavy moves.

Early-stage Pokemon have a small move pool so whoever lasts long will win the match.

Elekid has Quick attack, thundershock and Cross chop which are more than enough for now, what he needs is to up his stamina to stay longer in the fight.

So our plan for the next two months is to do physical exercise, improve the timing to generate the Light Screen and learning Charge. The move Charge also helps him better control electricity.

After that, we can work on an electric move, or I can take him to visit my brother's Zebstrika to instil some of her experience in electric type control.

"Okay, you already seem tired after showing all the moves. Let's stop for today, we will work on your stamina and try to not overwork," I said explaining to him the problems that come with overworking.

[Roger that, I will follow the plan but can you please add that milk to my diet. Why did you stop giving me that? ] he asked cutely while nudging my pants.

"Miltank milk? that's only for baby Pokemon so that they can grow without any nutrition deficiency. If you want it then I will add some of it but not a whole packet," I said while walking back with him toward the dorm. I picked him up and put him over my shoulder.

[Stingy Arthur, but something is better than nothing, ] he said pulling my hair in dissatisfaction.

"I am not stingy ok, you will just become overweight which is the worst thing that can happen," I said making him image a fat Elekid. He immediately shuddered and said

[Ok, only a little bit is fine.]

---------Chapter End---------
