41 Capturing Scyther

10th January 1995

Kanto Region, Viridian Forest

Scyther was hit squarely by the Vacuum wave and sent flying backwards a bit, It's entire body lit up in a golden spark of lightning.

"Finally," Red thought while sighing in relief, For a second there, He thought that Pichu's Thunder wave was in vain.

"Now Quick Attack!" Red ordered.

Riolu shot forward, her entire body glowing in a white aura as she closed the distance between herself and Scyther but before she could hit Scyther, The Bug Pokemon flapped it's wings and flew upwards, causing a surge of wind to blow down below it.

Riolu's Quick Attack was dodged but Riolu was far from over.

"Bounce off the ground and Karate Chop!" Red ordered.

Riolu did as she was told and bounced off the ground, soaring into the air behind Scyther as her palms echoed in flickering aura. She struck Scyther only to find multiple Scyther in the air, Her confused expression didn't last long as she was instantly switched out with Pidgey.

"Sand Attack and then Gust!" Red ordered.

Pidgey kicked up a lot of sand and then used Gust to blow it toward Scyther, creating a miniature Sandstorm. The clones of Scyther vanished abruptly as Scyther tore through the Sandstorm only to be confronted by a Karate chop from Riolu.

Scyther was sent flying backward by this attack but it steadied itself, it's entire body glowing in an ethereal blue aura. Scyther suddenly vanished only for Riolu to collide with the ground forcefully, much to Red's surprise.

Blood leaked out from the side of Riolu's mouth and Red sighted it, His hands trembling as he returned Riolu and sent out Pidgey.

"Brave Bird!" Red ordered.

Pidgey's entire figure glowed in a much denser blue aura. Pidgey tore through the air, his body moving at a speed that made it even hard for Red to see and Scyther glowed as well before fading.

The two Pokemon clashed mid-air, ripples formed in the air as they clashed again and again, Pidgey gained more momentum during each clash and then... Pidgey crashed into Scyther who was catching it's breath and sent the Bug Pokemon right into the ground, impacting the ground with a small crater.

Scyther staggered out of the crater as it's entire body turned into a blur once again, it's eyes flashed as it tore through the air and collided with Pidgey sending the Pokemon to the ground.

Pidgey fainted and he was returned immediately while Red sent out Gastly.

"Icy wind!" Red ordered.

The wind became more chilly as it burst forward, hitting Scyther in the air. The freezing wind appeared to be very effective on Scyther as the Pokemon slumped backwards, exhaustion taking over and sending it crashing to the ground.

Red gripped a Pokeball and swung it right at Scyther before it hit the ground, As the ball made contact with Scyther, A blue light sucked Scyther inside the Pokeball.

The Pokeball hit the ground softly and started rolling only to click a few seconds later. Red smiled as he finally did it... He finally caught Scyther.

The sky was swarming with dark clouds and Red couldn't help but wonder if there would be a storm tonight, He pulled on Yellow's arm tightly and the girl shook.

"Where are we now?" Red asked, he didn't bother to take out his Pokedex since Yellow was there.

"I dunno," Yellow replied with a shrug causing Red to stop in his path and look at her in surprise. The Pokedex although waterproof was connected to the Kanto region mapping network... which turned off whenever a storm started or was closing in... That's why he couldn't take out his Pokedex, The mapping would not even appear.

"You've been in the forest for 2 years, according to you," Red said, "And you're not aware of here?"

"It might be the Nidoran territory but those Pokemon are extremely territorial," Yellow said.

"I get that," Red said, "Nidoking is an incredibly territorial Pokemon so if we were in their territory, They'd definently..."

Red couldn't finish his words as he felt eyes on him, a lot of them. Relying on instinct alone, Red sprang forward, Yellow at his side as they ran for their dear lives.

Pinsirs as mentioned earlier were very territorial Pokemon and although Red couldn't fathom how they were back in the Pinsir territory, He didn't seem to care as he sprung to his feet, He dashed through the bushes and shrubs with determination and Yellow... Well Yellow was being carried princess style as he ran.

"You'll only slow me down," Red said for the umpteenth time as he crossed a ledge, He didn't dare think of bringing out his Pokemon as they could just gather him and his Pokemon, putting them in a dangerous position.

Pellets of rain hit the roof of the tent as Red tended to his wounds, apparently the Pinsir had caught up only for a bit, One had hit him with a Tackle attack and he was sent flying but he was able to balance himself and prevent Yellow from getting hurt too.

It was just a simple Tackle attack but Red had felt worse, like a wagon may have hit him in the back.

'Pokemon are much stronger than humans,' Red realized.

Besides he didn't even know what the strange energy that made him powerful was neither did he know how to control it... so he was at a nice wide dead-end.

They were back in the confines of the Scyther territory and Red wasn't going to leave until the mapping was back on and running. He had spent 5 days in Viridian Forest already and his Pokemon had gotten a bit stronger so on the 5th February, He would be in Pewter city hopefully with a stronger team.

But... One thing on his mind was the Bug town gym, now that he had a powerful Bug type Pokemon like Scyther, He was sure... very very sure that he would win against the gym of Bug town and was even making plans to head there.

A little timeskip in the next chapter, I can't literally write his entire time in Viridian Forest, Can I? The volume would only feature Viridian Forest and no Bug town!
