57 A Girl's Troubles

Gastly sunk into the depths of the shadows just as violent blades of wind landed on the spot where it was, sending ripples across the ground.

'Shit,' Green thought, 'Gastly has an advantage once it sinks into the shadows and Red placed the battle site well, It's still early morning so the terrain shifted in Gastly's advantage,'

"Spearow, Focus and when it comes out, Aerial Ace!" Green exclaimed.

Gastly emerged moments later, Ghostly shadows engulfing the ghost Pokemon and Spearow craned it's wings, a blue aura shrouding it's figure as it prepared to shoot forward and attack... but then a fist of ghostly energy materialized in front of it's face, sending it flying backwards.

Green couldn't believe her eyes, Shadow Punch... had hit a Normal type?

"It doesn't make any sense," Green blurted out.

"Come on, Don't let out for even a second! Use Ice Shard!" Red ordered.

Taking advantage of the fact that Spearow was disoriented after that punch, Gastly launched another barrage of Ice shards far bigger than the original shards of ice, each of them striking Spearow precisely as it crashed upon the hard ground, kicking up grass in the process.

Spearow stood back up, pure determination and adrenaline filling it's veins up with murderous energy as it carried out it's earlier order, shooting forward with incredible speed as it crashed against Gastly mere moments later, sending the ghost Pokemon flying. Spearow steadied itself on the ground as Gastly landed on the ground as well, only to sink into the shadows much to Green's annoyance.

"Gastly, Cast a powerful wind onto the Battlefield, use Icy Wind!" Red let out.

Gastly emerged from the ground once again, keeping a major amount of distance between itself and Spearow... Cold gusts of wind converged on the bird Pokemon sending chills down it's spine as it's entire body froze up and it's pupils dilated.

'Spearow's gonna lose consciousness,' Green thought.

"Don't give in, Unleash an Aerial Ace with your full power!" Green ordered, pumping her fist into the air encouragingly.

Spearow shot forward, glowing in a blazing blue aura as it prepared to smash against Gastly once again but before it could gain enough speed for the powerful attack, A fist of ghost energy smashed into it's face sending it flying and crashing into the ground.

Spearow had fainted...

"Return!" Green called out and Spearow got sucked back into it's Pokeball with Green sighing, 'Alright, I can choose between Bulbasaur and Jigglypuff... Which one?'

Green chose to call out Jigglypuff because Gastly's Ice type attacks would be super effective on the part grass Pokemon... With a flash of light, Jigglypuff appeared on the arena but Red raised Gastly's Pokeball, recalling the Pokemon back and sending another one forth, A Riolu glistening with energy.

Green brought out her Pokedex and scanned the Riolu only to see it was at LV. 16.

'It's strong,' Green thought and then clicked her tongue, "Alright, Start with Sing!"

"Riolu, Block out the sound with your hands and then counter with a Force Palm!" Red ordered, since Fighting moves were effective against Jigglypuff and besides... Riolu had to burn out steam from yesterday.

Riolu blocked out the song and then her hands charged up with intense aura as she shot forward, closing the distance between herself and Jigglypuff, the aura distorting as it became crimson and smashed against Jigglypuff's head causing a wave of raw crimson aura to erupt from behind Jigglypuff.

"Rapid Spin, Get out of there!" Green ordered.

Jigglypuff began spinning, her body propelling in a tornado like fashion as she broke away from Riolu and narrowed her eyes at the small fighting type.

"Vacuum Wave!" Red shouted out and Riolu's aura spiked, aura spinning around her arm as she shot the attack forward, breaking through Jigglypuff's defenses in one go and sending the Pokemon flying but Riolu alas wasn't done with her combination, Her legs propelled forward and she started striking with a flurry of blows, each punch laced with aura and hitting with pin-point accuracy.

Green couldn't let out an order as Jigglypuff was thrown back under the impact of Riolu's last punch, sending the Pokemon to her feet with swirly eyes.

Riolu let out a sympathetic smile as she turned around.

"Riolu!" She cried out.

[Author's Translation: You're Weak]

Red returned Riolu and then looked at Green.

"There's a difference between a Quartz Conference competitor and one of the Indigo League," Red said and then handed the bag to Green, "Just make sure you get stronger and try to win the Indigo League,"

Green's eyes scanned his eyes and found nothing but genuine care in them.

"Red... I'm sorry for running away from Pallet, For leaving everyone... Dad... You behind," Green said as she buried her face into his chest, tears rolling down her cheeks, "I wanted to prove I was the best, I thought by starting out early, Maybe I would grow far stronger but you still beat me,"

Red watched the girl and stroked her back.

"I wanted to prove to my Father that I could be a strong trainer, He was skeptical about me becoming like my Cousin, Erika from Celadon but... I know what I want," Green said, pulling back and wiping her tears.

"I'll become stronger than ever and when you see me in the Indigo League, I'll certainly make you proud," Green said, "I'll make sure you see me at my peak strength, I'll become strong enough to beat Blue and the other Pallet town competitors!"

Red looked at the girl and smiled affectionately, lowering his head a bit and kissing her forehead.

"I wish you good luck," Red said.

Green blushed as she looked up at Red and pulled her face away.

"Th- Thanks Red," Green said, "But I'm going to travel alone,"

"Okay, I have to go to the gym now," Red said.

Green nodded and looked at her new bag, adorned with diamonds.

"Thanks for the gift," Green said and left, leaving Red in a turmoil of emotions.

"Red," Hannah began, "How many girls do you have?"
