3 Chapter 2

"Dratini, aqua jet!"

Dratini became covered in a torrent of water, and before the Pidgey could react to it, Dratini dashed towards him.

The Pidgey was hit, being carried away by Dratini, till they crashed into a tree.

Dratini jumped back, staring at its disoriented opponent.

"Now, use twister."

Dratini accumulated energy in his tail, before releasing it towards Pidgey.

The bird pokemon tried to orient himself, but he was met by a vicious tornado instead. It was another direct hit, with no room for Pidgey to escape.

Soon enough, the tornado dissapeared, and Pidgey could be seen fainted.

'My chance.'

Luke brought out a pokeball from his bag, and then threw it towards the fallen pokemon. It opened, and Pidgey went inside.

It moved once. It moved twice. And lastly...

It moved thrice. Then, it stopped. With the characteristic sound of a pokemon being caught, Luke won.

He didn't wait long before picking up the pokeball, a feeling of satifaction rising within him.

"Good job, Dratini."

"Dra!"

Luke was more than satisfied with Dratini's performance. WIth one attack he left the opponent disoriented, and with the other, the job was finished swiftly.

And with that, Luke managed to capture his first pokemon, out of all the ones he will eventually capture.

Capturing Pidgey threw him all the way back to when he first played Pokemon Fire Red.

'The good times.'

Luke pointed the pokeball down.

"Pidgey, come out."

With a flash Pidgey appeared. He looked around trying to orient himself, finally landing his gaze on them.

Pidgey let out a cry of disatisfaction.

"Hey there, I'm Luke, your new trainer, and that is Dratini."

Dratini cried out in cheerfulness at their new companion.

Pidgey looked at them with narrowed eyes, then it looked away. Luke figured he would be mad at what happened, but he wasn't too worried about it.

"Say, Pidgey, do you want to come with us?" he asked. "If you don't want to, I'll release you back."

Pidgey cocked its head, then it seemed to think about it for a moment.

Coming to a decision soon, Pidgey took off flight, landing on Luke's shoulders.

"I take it that you want to come with us, then?" he smiled.

Pidgey stuck out his chest, and let a cry of affirmation.

"Good, we will do great things together, I can tell you."

He looked in the map again, making sure of the direction towards Viridian.

They took off to Viridian. Luke decided to let them be out of their pokeball for a while.

First, it would be good for bonding. And second, the novelty of having Pokemon with him hasn't worn off.

With Pidgey flying above them, and Dratini on his back, they explored the wonders of the world.

It wasn't long before they found another Pokemon.

It was a small, quadrupedal rodent Pokémon. It has purple fur with a cream-colored face, paws, and underbelly. It has narrow eyes containing white sclera and pupil with red irises, rounded ears with cream-colored insides, and a single whisker on each cheek.

'A Rattata.' Luke stopped. 'Can't catch it, but it can serve as battle experience.'

He looked at Pidgey. "Can you do it?"

Pidgey looked at the Rattata. Then he looked at Luke, humphing in affirmation.

"Good. Then, Pidgey use Gust."

Pidgey started flapping its wings rapidly. The wind became fierce, and it was launcherd towards the rodent Pokemon.

It hit it while it was distracted, leaving no room for evasion.

The Rattata went flying, hitting a tree. It cried out in pain, and fell to the floor.

"Pidgey use Quick Attack."

Pidgey launched itself, arriving before the Rattata in a moment.

The rodent, not being intimidated, launched a quick attack of its own on response.

Both Pokemon were pushed back by the impact, looking at each other.

Thank to its surprise attack, Pidgey has the advantage, but they have to finish the battle fast, else the Rattata will go away.

"Pidgey use gust once more."

Pidgey generated a large gust of wind again, and launched it towards the now prepared Pokemon.

It ran around evading them, while Pidgey kept on going.

"Now, sand attack."

Pidgey stopped its attack, and lowered itself closer to the Rattata, using the wind to its advantage. Then, it continued flapping its wings, this time closer to the ground.

Rattata was hit by a storm of sand on its face, blinding it. Luke saw this and knew it was time.

"Quick Attack."

Pidgey once more launched itself towards Rattata, who was unable to react once again.

"Use Quick Attack again."

Without leaving it any room to get up, Pidgey attacked it once again.

After having received so many hits, Luke figured the Rattata wouldn't be able to get up. To his surprise, it tried to run away, catching him off guard.

"Pidgey use gust."

Pidgey wouldn't be satisfied with its prey running away after battling, so he chased it down. When he got close enough, Pidgey released a gust of wind, hitting the Rattata.

At last, Rattata fainted, marking Luke and Pidgey as the winners of this little battle.

Pidgey stuck out his chest, and cried out in victory.

"What a prideful bird I got."

Pidgey came back and landed on Luke's shoulder. He looked at Luke, as if expecting something from him.

"You did great." Luke said.

Pidgey humphed in approval, and Luke chuckled. Dratini also celebrated its companion's victory.

"Time to get back on track. Pidgey, look out from above, and tell me if you see any strong Pokemon." Pidgey nodded.

Luke started walking, and Pidgey took flight above him.

It hasn't been long since he has arrived at this world, but he has already had 2 battles with wild Pokemon. The first one got him a new teammate, and the other allowed him to bond with Pidgey.

The results of them satisfied him, and his excitement grew even more.

'This is something that I wouldn't have imagined I would be able to do, but here I am.' he looked at Pidgey flying above. 'I will definitely fly high here.'

They continued travelling through the forest for a while. On their way they encountered another Rattata, who was dealt with by Pidgey.

Besides that, they also passed by a Caterpie, but Luke decided to ignore it.

'While it does become a flying type, training it to the level that it evolves will take time, and Butterfree isn't a Pokemon that you would fight with in the long run. Training less Pokemon, but doing it well will probably be better.'

After a while, Luke was able to see something in the distance.

'Buildings. It should be Viridian.'

He took out his phone, and checked the map. It was Viridian City, the first human settlement he will pass by in this new world.

'Let's see what it's like with my own eyes.'
