1 Chapter 1: Transmigration

A/N: I know its been a long time, but here is the re-write of the story. I hope you enjoy it.

---------------------------------

Hello there.

My name is Oliver.

People always say that life is full of unexpected surprises and I have to agree with them.

Especially given what happened to me.

I was walking home one night after leaving my friends home.

The two of us having just finished watching the final pokemon episode showcasing Ash and his trusty partner Pikachu as the main characters.

I'm not ashamed to admit that I cried a bit.

Because after twenty odd years of watching Ash on his adventures, it was hard to see him go. But I was slightly comforted by the fact he at least got a proper send off.

Moving on.

I was almost home when I reached a crosswalk.

As my parent's taught me as a child I looked both ways before crossing the street and then started making my way across.

However the moment I reached the middle of the crosswalk I noticed a pair of bright headlights out of the corner of my left eye.

Turning my head I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw a semi-truck heading towards me at full speed. Showing no signs of stopping.

Then before I could move to get out of the way I was run over.

Dying shortly after.

Yes, truck-kun killed me.

Little did I know that my death was just the beginning of an even greater adventure for me.

-------------------------------------

"Agh!!!"

Screaming at the top of my lungs I flailed around.

But that only lasted for a moment before I stopped. Once I did so I took several deep breaths to get my breathing back under control. Then as soon as I did so I started running my hands all over my body. Checking myself for injuries.

Since the last thing I remember is that I got run over my a truck.

Yet even after I checked my body multiple times I found no injuries whatsoever.

"The hell." I muttered to myself.

After I did so I wondered if the truck hitting me had simply been a really messed up dream.

Though I was only able to think about for a split second before an intense pain assaulted my head.

Gritting my teeth in agony I moved my hands to the sides of my head and held it. The pain getting worse as the seconds passed by.

But then just as quickly as the pain in my head started it stopped.

Once it did so I understood my situation with complete and utterly clarity.

The truck hitting me was not a dream.

It really did happen.

I was run over.

Then I died shortly afterwards.

But it seems after that happened my soul departed my old world and somehow came to this new one. Merging with the soul of this new body. Turning us into one person.

So while I am Oliver I am also this new person as well.

Whose name is Ezra Grimheart.

As for the world I will now call home it is one I know very well.

The world of Pokemon.

As my memories from my 21 years as Oliver and the memories I inherited from the original Ezra began to synchronize and merge seamlessly, I couldn't help but put a small smile on my face.

"Pokemon. I am now in the world of Pokemon." I said.

Gushing on the inside.

This is a childhood dream of mine come true.

Though I am wondering which version of Pokemon the world I now call home is based on. The games, the anime, or the manga.

Personally I really hope its not the last one, since all the Pokemon manga were extremely dark and twisted.

Soon the memories finished merging together, and once they did I got ready to plan on next move.

*Rustle*

That is until I heard a rustling sound nearby.

Whipping my head in the direction it came from I saw a bush moving. Then a second later a pokemon jumped out of it.

A wurmple.

Our eyes met, and as they did so I found myself completely entranced.

Since seeing a pokemon in the flesh is so much different than seeing it on a screen or on a page.

The two of us stared at each other for I don't know how long before the wurmple scurried off, disappearing into the bushes again.

Once it did so I took a look around and realized I was in a forest.

The moment I did I searched through the original Ezra's memories to find out why I am in such a place.

In doing so I learned several important things.

First off, I am in a forest located on Dewford Island in the Hoenn region.

Which is my home, and where I have spent the past ten years of my life growing up.

As an orphan.

That's right.

Apparently I don't have parents in this new life.

I live at an orphanage run and funded by the town.

From the memories I am seeing the original Ezra was a quiet kid who loved to read books and learn all he could about pokemon. Since his dream was to become a trainer when he reached the legal age to do so.

Which is not ten in this world it seems.

Seems people in this version of the pokemon world can't legally become trainers until they reach the age of fifteen.

Which actually makes perfect sense to me.

I mean what parents would allow their ten-year old child to travel a world filled with highly dangerous and destructive creatures alone? I know I wouldn't.

Now then, as to why I am out in this forest alone.

It seems the original Ezra came out here to try and catch himself a starter pokemon.

Since although people can't legally become trainers until age fifteen, they can register pokemon as their own and keep them as companions. But there is a limit on that number.

Three to be exact.

So with that in mind original Ezra figured he would get a head start on his journey like a few others kids do and get a pokemon for himself at this age.

Using his wits he managed to get a pokeball for free from a local shop owner and since then he has been coming out to the forest to search for a partner pokemon for himself for the past two weeks.

Since original Ezra didn't want a simple starter pokemon, but something special.

That's the reason he didn't try and catch or befriend most of the pokemon in the forest that he would easily be able to.

He wanted to challenge himself.

A guy after my own heart.

"Have no fear Ezra, I will carry on your dream." I said.

Since I intend to become a pokemon trainer.

As I resolved myself to the path of a trainer I stood to my feet and stretched.

Wincing as I felt a throbbing on the left side of my head.

Moving my left hand to it I felt a slight bump.

I then noticed a coconut on the ground, and quickly looked through my memories to see that original Ezra sat under the tree where the coconut fell from.

Which means him getting hit in the head is what allowed my soul to enter his body and merge with his.

I put a wry smile on my face upon learning this information.

*Smash*

But dropped it immediately when I heard a smashing sound nearby.

Curious I started walking in the direction of it.

Eager to see what was making that noise.

Making it my first official adventure in the world of pokemon I now call my own.
