44 Squirtle

It took a bit of effort from everyone and their Pokemon, but eventually, the forest fire was contained and extinguished. Then Officer Jenny finally showed up.

"What happened, why is there so much smoke and burnt forest?" Jenny asked noticing the Squirtle Squad, "This better not be another prank, I haven't done drastic measures yet but I can and will take all of you in."

Yellow immediately started defending them, "Wait, the Squirtles didn't do anything, they helped to put out the fire!"

"Yeah it was Team Rocket, they were throwing bombs and starting a fire," Brock said, also holding himself back since this was a serious moment.

Jenny lost her angry expression and looked relieved, "Well that's good, you said they extinguished the fire."

"Well technically-ow!" Misty started saying before Ash gave her a light chop on the head signaling 'Not the time.'

Ash stepped forward as Misty rubbed her head, "Yes they worked together and stopped the fire before it got too out of hand."

Jenny nodded and looked towards the Squirtles, "Thank you if that fire started growing it would have reached our town, it is good to know that you aren't just a bunch of troublemakers."

"You know if you all want I can take you all in," Jenny said, "You all did such a good job so you could all be the firefighters for our little town."

The Squirtles were surprised but kept their composure and huddled in a circle to discuss it, eventually, the leader stepped forward and nodded, "Squirtle."

After that, everyone was taken to town and the ceremony to commemorate the Squirtle squad saving the town and Officially becoming the new fire squad for the town along with a new Jacket for each of them.

The gang was there watching the ceremony, "Good for them, they finally have someone to take care of them" Brock said.

"Yeah I'm so happy for them," Yellow said happily.

"At least these delinquents won't cause more trouble," Misty says, still a bit salty, 'Though I did want one.'

With the Squirtles on stage they were all waving at the crowd, the lead Squirtle saw Ash and remembered how he saved him. So he started thinking.

One of his Squirtle grunts saw this, [Is everything alright boss?]

Squirtle turned and saw his group, [I think I want to leave this town,] he announced.

The Squirtles looked surprised and Squirtle Grunt 3 stepped forward, [Boss are you sure?] Squirtle nodded.

Squirtle Grunt 4 said, [Then let us come with you, We don't have to be firefighters, we can aim to make more pranks across the world.]

Squirtle shook his head, [No, no more pranks we are heroes now we can't go back,] Squirtle said striking a pose, [But you all can't come with me, you all have to stay here and protect this town.]

The Squirtles looked sad hearing that their leader would be leaving so he spoke up, [Don't look like that it doesn't matter if we are 1,000,000 miles away we will always be the great-] Squirtle said getting in place for the pose.

[Squirtle Squad!!] The other 4 Squrtles said in unison forming the pose.

Sometime later, the gang was just on the outskirts of town, when they heard a familiar voice, "Hey wait!" Looking behind they saw Officer Jenny on her bike with Squirtle riding along.

Brock saw his opportunity and came forward, "Officer Jenny what can I do for a beautiful girl like you,"

Jenny looked at Brock and chose to ignore him, "Squirtle here told me he wants to talk to you." signaling to Ash.

Squirtle walked forward and started talking, "Squirtle. Squirtle." Ash understood mostly what he meant.

"So you come along with us, sure," Ash said, pulling out a Pokeball.

"Squirtle!" he jumped and hit the button and went into the ball with a satisfying 'Ding'.

"Congratulations Ash," Yellow said.

Misty was pulling on Brock's ear again, Ash released Squirtle, who came out with a pose.

"Yes, be sure to take care of him," Officer Jenny said.

"Hey why don't you exchange numbers with Brock so you can see Squirtle, I'm sure Squirtle would want to see his friends again."

Jenny smiled, "Of course that is a great idea,"

At this time Brock was free from Misty's wrath, Jenny gave Brock her number before she said goodbye and rode back into town.

As they started making their way down the Path Ash noticed Misty was looking at Squirtle, "Everything alright Misty?" he asked.

Misty was shocked hearing Ash, "No everything is fine."

"Seriously Misty, it is pretty obvious you have something to say about Squirtle."

Misty sighed, "Well to be honest I also wanted to get one of those Squirtles but then they became part of the firefighters."

Ash smiled, "Well don't worry I hear there is an Island full of Squirtles We can go get you one from there if you want"

It took a second for Misty to realize what Ash said, "Really, there's actually an Island of Squirtles, Why am I only hearing of this now, I am a water-type expert I should know about these things!" Misty said in her usual tone of voice.

"Well it is protected by a strong Blastoise, why don't you ask your family about it, they probably know more about it than I do," Ash said.

Misty agreed and her mood was happy again, 'I was planning on going on that Island anyway because there may be something I can get from there that I want.'

A day later Ash wasn't purposely leading the group away from the city anymore, so he let Brock lead, but they got lost again, this time for real.

"Brock don't tell me we are lost," Misty said looking tired.

"We should be close," Brock said a bit nervously before smelling the air, "Though I do smell the Ocean."

Hearing that everyone smells the air and Ash knows exactly where they are.

"I never smelled the Ocean before," Yellow said.

"You haven't been to the Beach," Misty asked.

"No, I've only ever been to lakes and ponds near Veridian," Yellow responded.

"We should go to one later, I hear there is a good one in Vermilion," Misty said excitedly.

"We can think about the beach episode later for now we need to get to Vermilion first." Ash reminded Misty.

He then turned to Brock, "I heard from Professor Oak that one of his old assistants has a lighthouse near the ocean, we should try and find it."

"Good idea we could get directions-" Brock said as he was cut off.

"And they may have some spare beds!" Misty said.

They walked to the Ocean and saw a large body of water, Brock whistled, "Pretty good view isn't it."

Ash looked at the beach and saw that one distinct crab was about the size of an actual crab, It looked at him, and he looked at it. Then he threw a ball at it and it was caught.

'Well this is worthless until it grows, whatever I'll just pull an Ash and send it to Oak, this crab is apparently a super prodigy that evolved after its first battle.' Ash thought as he picked up the ball and sent it to Oak.

Everyone noted the disappointing confrontation, "Another water type already?" Misty asked.

"It's the most common type, what did you expect," Ash responded, "Besides it will be good eventually when I go to the fire gym."

"You have a point, By this time it is not uncommon for trainers to have more than 20 different Pokemon" Brock said.

"Well anyway the sunset, we should be able to find the lighthouse soon," Ash said as they looked for the lights of the Lighthouse.

When they saw it they approached it but stopped when they saw it, "Does anyone else think the lighthouse looks weird." Brock said referring to the multiple images of Pokemon covering the building.

"I think it looks cool," Yellow said.

"Well someone should ring the doorbell," Misty said before pudding Ash forward, "You should do it."

"Sure why not," Ash said as he stepped up[ and rang the doorbell, which made everyone shiver hearing it.

Eventually, the intercom turned on, "Who goes there?."

"Uhh hello sir, we are travelers and we seem to be lost," Brock said stepping forward, "We wanted to know if we could get directions," Brock said.

"And a place to rest potentially," Misty said from behind everyone.

Before the person could decline, Brock asks, "Can I also use your kitchen so I can make delicious tamago chaahan and nabe? I can also make something for you if you'd like."

The person thinks for a second, "Can you also make yakisoba as well?"

"Of course, I can make it as well as katayaki, chow mein, yakisoba sauce, or anything else you might like."

"If you make katayaki then sure," the voice said as the doors opened.

"Well, that was Easy."
