16 At Viridian City

Sorry, this one is a bit later I was busy today, then I had to edit it, anyway here it is nonetheless.

Ash was watching this Spearow stare at Pikachu like it had stolen something from his mouth. Pikachu saw the bird approaching as well, it seemed like he knew this Pokemon specifically, making Ash wonder what history happened between the two.

Ash remembered this specific Spearow from the anime, this Spearow was able to overpower Ash's Pidgeot when it evolved, the same Pokemon that had months of training and was able to one-shot a Rhydon with a type disadvantage move in the anime, with mind you no one training it did all of that with a pure unbridled desire for revenge against a dumb kid who hit it with a rock.

It was the only reason why Pidgeot left Ash's care and didn't show up until the very last episode of Pokemon. Why did Ash not just catch it, oh wait he did, in the manga he caught it and it became Ash's second strongest until Charizard came around.

Ash shook his head and looked at Pikachu, "Pikachu you remember our deal, now I need you to take this bird down before it can call for reinforcements." He said preparing a Pokeball.

Pikachu understood but didn't like having to listen to Ash, "Pika-pi, Pikachu '' as Pikachu's cheeks started lighting up with electricity.

The Spearow saw this so he aimed to attack Pikachu using Assurance, but before he could reach him Ash called out, "Pikachu, use thundershock, full power!"

Hearing this Pikachu begrudgingly decided to obey, lighting up the field in yellow electricity sending it all into the Spearow causing the bird to cry out loudly, leaving the bird weakened and paralyzed, but still standing.

The Spearow knew it was in trouble, so he wanted to call for help but before that could happen it got hit with the pokeball Ash had prepared. And in his weakened state he couldn't fight back and so the ball shook violently until a satisfying 'ding' could be heard.

As soon as he picked up his Pokeball he looked towards his friends, who seemed to be happy for him since he finally had a Pokemon that he could actually call his own.

Gary decided to speak, "Congrats Ash you are the first one of us to catch our first Pokemon, of course, you still probably need to still wander around Viridian Forest for something else before the first Gym."

Ash looked over and said, "Yeah, but it's better than nothing, besides at least he has the type advantage over grass types." As he did that he tried using Aura bonding with Pikachu and Spearow, as he used the Aura technique he patted Pikachu, and surprising Pikachu himself he didn't feel like shocking the kid.

As they continued a girl came over from the side of the road on a bike, she had short, orange hair tied into a side ponytail with a blue elastic rubber band. She has green eyes and fair skin. She wears a yellow tank top that reveals her midriff, red suspenders, denim shorts that stop at her thighs, and red high-top sneakers with yellow lining and white laces. This was Misty.

She began to say, "Is everything ok, I heard a commotion and the sound of a Spearow, so I was worried that someone was getting attacked by the Spearow gang."

Green was the one to respond, "We're fine, one of the Spearow attacked my friend's Pokemon so he took it down and captured it before the Spearow could call for help." when she pointed towards Ash, he just waved a bit.

Seeing this Misty felt a bit relieved, she was glad no one got hurt from the Spearow that have been terrorizing people in the area, "Well I am glad no one got hurt, but you guys should make it over to Viridian City to get you pokemon healed, and also to get out before the rest of the Spearow gang finds out what you did. Come on, I know the fastest way, follow me."

As just like that the group walked beside Misty with her bike. Ash thought, "Well I guess since I didn't completely destroy her bike she isn't going to follow me like she did originally. Well, I guess I can find a way to fix that later."

As they continued walking Ash looked behind him and saw a red and Gold colored bird flying past where they were, looking back at his traveling companions it seemed like he was the only one who saw it.

He just thought 'Well that is what I like to call plot BS, how did they not see a giant gold bird flying over them.' looking down at Pikachu it seemed like he saw it too since he stopped moving to stare back at the sky. Ash went over and picked up Pikachu saying, "Let's keep that one to ourselves for a bit" as he put the electric mouse on his shoulder.

'Well, I guess overall I came out of Route 1 better than Ash, me and Pikachu aren't nearly dead, I caught the leader of the Spearows, and I am one less bike in debt. I mean seriously those glorified pieces of steel are over 1 mill poke dollars, and people still buy them so they keep selling them at that price.'

As the group kept walking they soon heard a woman on the Speakers. "Attention people of Viridian City, Attention people of Viridian City, we have reports of Pokemon thieves in our area, be on the lookout for suspicious-looking strangers. Repeat be on the lookout for suspicious looking stra–"

She was cut off once she saw the group approach, as the group saw her it was clear who she was. She had dark teal hair and fair skin she wore a purple cap with a black rim, a red top, and a gold star, a purple collared shirt with red trim, a sky blue chest piece, gold shoulder pads, a black purse, a matching belt with a gold buckle, a purple skirt, black shoes, and white gloves. And standing next to her was Growlithe by her side. It was Officer Jenny of Viridian City.

She stopped the group and looked at the Pikachu on Ash's shoulders, "Hold it right there have been reports of Pokemon thieves in the area" As she pointed at a poster behind he showing two pictures of team rocket, "I need to see your IDs or you will be coming to the station with me." she said the last part to the group yet it felt targeted towards Ash.

Misty gave her ID, and the rest gave their Pokedex. Once Officer Jenny confirmed their identity she apologized and let them pass.

As they got out of earshot Ash was the first to speak, "What do you think that was about, did she think I was a thief because Pikachu wasn't in his Pokeball? Her Growlithe wasn't in a Pokeball yet I didn't call her a thief."

Misty decided to speak up, "Well why don't you put Pikachu in his ball then? It seems like you would want Pikachu to rest after a fight." making Pikachu himself wonder why Ash never even tried to put him in a Pokeball.

"Well Pikachu already barely tolerated me and he made it very obvious that he doesn't like being in his Pokeball." Pikachu was surprised Ash could tell but didn't let it show. "Anyway Did anyone else see the wanted poster for the two team rocket members?"

Gary spoke up, "Well yeah the one with the blue-haired guy and pink-haired girl, they are probably just grunts, and they probably didn't steal anything yet since the only police officer around is Officer Jenny."

"1000 poke dollars, they try to rob the Pokemon center," Ash said half-jokingly.

"Sure, easiest money of my life, they may be idiots but no one is that dumb," Gary responded with a smirk.

Misty just leaned over towards Green and whispered, "Are they always like this?"

To which Green just responded, "No, sometimes they are annoying."

As they finally got to the Pokemon center, and as they got inside they saw a woman with bright pink hair and fair skin wearing a Mexican-pink-colored dress with a white nurse apron and flat Mary Jane shoes. And next to her was a Chansey wearing a nurse hat. This was the Nurse Joy of Viridian City.

As Nurse Joy and Chansey saw the group walk in they asked, "Hello, how can I help you today?"

"Chansey"

"Do you have any rooms available for the night?" Asked Misty

Nurse Joy smiled and answered, "Of course, we have plenty of rooms available tonight." making Misty visibly relaxed.

"You guys can go check out a room, I'll stay down here my Pokemon do need some treatment after all," Ash said as he approached the counter and handed Nurse Joy Spearow's Pokeball. And pulled Pikachu off his shoulder and handed him to one of the Chansey telling him, "Don't worry they are going to make sure you are healthy."

Then he looked over at Nurse Joy and told her, "I haven't opened Spearow's Pokeball since I got him, and as you probably know they are very aggressive. Also, Pikachu doesn't like being in his Pokeball." Nurse Joy nodded and headed into the back room.

Ash sat down as Gary, Green, and Misty decided to go get their rooms set up. And as was left alone to think, 'Well Jessie and James are probably going to get her in about an hour so until then I might as well call Delia and Oak.'

As Ash got up he moved towards the computer and called his mother, As soon as he called the phone was answered, "Hello, Ketchum residence"

"Hey, Mom it's Ash" As soon as he said that he could clearly hear frantic movement before the video call was turned on.

"Hi honey is everything ok" She was in her bathrobe, showing she was just taking a shower. "Where are you right now?"

"The Pokemon center in Viridian City" Ash answered, receiving a happy gasp from Delia.

"You're already at Viridian City? It took your father four days to get there when he started his journey, he will be so proud you truly are the apple of his eye." Delia responded happily. "By the way, where are you friends, didn't you three leave together?"

"Yeah they are upstairs getting their rooms picked out, I am waiting here for my Pokemon to get all healed up. Pikachu had to fight a Spearow before it called for the rest of its flock."

"That's great to hear, though you should get some rest, you're going to need it if you're going to go through Viridian Forest tomorrow. I love you."

"I love you too," Ash said before hanging up. As he sat down for a second he heard a voice behind him.

"Hey Ash, did you call your mom?" looking behind him he saw Gary walking towards him.

"Yeah, she was probably worried for the entire day you know how she gets. Anyway, why are you down here shouldn't you get the room you want." Ash responded.

"Well I already got my room reserved, Green and that orange-headed girl are currently using the showers so I thought I should come and call Gramps"

"Ring, Ring, Ring, Phone call Phone call" As soon as Gary finished talking they both heard ringing coming from the computer.

Ash pressed the answer button and asked, "Hello who is this?" despite knowing it was Oak.

Oak was on the screen, though he was looking into the wrong camera, "Why it's me Ash, Oh, and hello to you too Gary I see you both made it safely to Viridian City."

Gary jumped in, "Gramps you're looking into the wrong camera, all we can see is the back of your head." Oak quickly realized he was looking into the wrong camera and the screen cut out as he tried to fix it, after a few seconds his face could be properly seen.

He tried to play it off as if nothing happened, "Well Ash, your mother informed me you all got to the Pokemon center safely, so tell me who caught the first Pokemon."

Before Ash could say anything Gary cut in again, "Gramps we are not acting like that didn't just happen!"

Just before Gary could continue a doorbell could be heard, "Oh that must be my pizza I am so sorry to go. It was nice to talk to you two, please send Green my regards, bye" and he quickly hung up before Gary could say anything.

Gary just sighed and as soon as he was about to speak he was cut off again by Nurse Joy carrying out Pikachu and Spearow's Pokeball. "Well they are in good condition, so here you go." As She handed them back to Ash.

And as Ash got Pikachu he received a shock, followed by Pikachu laughing, and Gary holding back his laughter.

"Pika-Pika pi"

"Well I guess I don't have your trust already do I, welp we still have some work to do"

Pikachu then shook his head and started saying, "Chu Pika-pi, Pikachu"

"Are you ok?" asked Nurse Joy as Ash nodded

"Well I guess you should go upstairs and get your room ready then, I should try to" Gary was saying before he was cut off again by the alarms.

"Attention our radars have detected a large aircraft belonging to a gang of Pokemon thieves. If you have a Pokemon in your possession, exercise extreme caution."

As soon as the alarms stopped a smokescreen appeared in the center lobby, and when it cleared up, there stood a woman with magenta long hair that she wears curled in a comet-tail behind her head. She typically wears a pair of large green orb earrings. And a man with shoulder-length periwinkle hair with a single fringe sprouting from the center and green eyes. And they had a Meowth next to them.

This was Jessie and James

Jessie: To denounce the evils of truth and love!

James: To extend our reach to the stars above!

Jessie: Jessie!

James: James!

Jessie: Team Rocket blasts off at the speed of light!

James: Surrender now or prepare to fight!

Meowth: Meowth! That's right! ♪

As both Ash and Gary stared at the trio, Gary sighed and said, "Dang it'' he reached into his pocket and grabbed 1000 Poke dollars, and handed it to Ash, which he pocketed quickly.
