Chapter 3.

Calling the Night Mansion a Mansion, could be considered a huge understatement. The so-called mansion was a huge castle made out of stone in a Victorian Style. It was three stories tall and was surrounded by beautiful fountains as well as gardens, making it very pleasant to look at.

There was a giant lake a little distance away from the mansion, in which aquatic pokemon such as Magikarp, Goldeen, and Alomomola could be seen, swimming around. There was also a giant pokemon battling arena, built next to the lake.

Our car stopped in front of the mansion where an old lady was waiting to greet us.

"Welcome back, Mr. and Mrs. Night, you too young master."

"Thank you, Mable, it's good to see you too."

Mother said as she smiled at Mable, who was the head maid of the Night mansion. After finishing our greetings we followed Mable inside the mansion.

The inside of the mansion looked quite comfortable and cozy, despite its size. There were various statues and paintings, showing the different dark type trainers and pokemon affiliated with our family.

The most eye-catching of them all was the giant statue of Yveltal, which stood directly below the stairs. While I was busy observing the statue, my mother spoke to me.

"Go get freshened up Alex, we will meet you for lunch in an hour,"

This gave me a reason to excuse myself. I quickly moved towards my room, which I remember, is on the second floor of the mansion. Upon entering, I stopped to look at the room of the previous owner of the body. There was not much to see other than some pokemon plushies and dolls as well as posters of famous pokemon trainers. I sied, looking at the decor. The room was clearly in need of a makeover.

After desirably arranging some things, I went to take a bath to rinse off the exhaustion accumulated on the journey. Exiting from the bathroom, my mind wandered off to an embarrassing event that happened while I was still admitted to the hospital in Sinnoh.

Like all reincarnatiors, I too got excited by the idea of getting my very own golden finger, which would help me to reach my path as the strongest pokemon trainer. This belief proved to be a false hope when all my efforts into calling out my system were in vain. The most embarrassing moment of it all was when Arthur and his Umbreon entered my room for something and noticed me mumbling some nonsense about a system. Since that day, whenever Arthurs Umbreon saw me its gaze towards me appeared as if it was looking at a clown.

After finishing up and changing into more comfortable clothes, I went down and joined my family for lunch. The lunch was a rather relaxing and peaceful affair but the environment at the dining table was broken by my declaration.

"Mom, dad I have decided that I want to learn more about our family and pokemon so that I can also help you with the best of my capabilities."

My statement brought all eyes to the table towards me.

"Are you sure son? Such responsibilities are not easily taken or given. Once you have decided to take up such responsibilities, you must see through your decisions till the very end."

My dad told me while looking at me straight into my eyes. There was a rare seriousness around him that told me that this decision was not one that could be taken lightly. Calming down my beating heart I looked him back in his eyes and replied with all the courage I could muster.

"I'm sure."

My statement bought a smile to his face as he nodded towards me.

"Hang on a second, Alex is still a child! Why must he take on the responsibilities of the family?!"

My aunt exclaimed at my father with an angry look in her eyes.

"Calm down Emi, I'm sure Adam has a good reason for making such a decision, isn't that right husband?"

My mom told aunt with a smile on her face, though her eyes seemed to be saying otherwise. I swallowed looking at her expression. Note to self, 'Never piss off mom'. Props to dad for not folding under her pressure. Though he still looked quite uncomfortable while replying to aunts question.

"Emilia, Alex has grown up now, and as the successor of the Night family, he must assume the certain responsibilities which come along with that title."

Aunt Emelia huffed at his answer and looked at me, with indignation visible in her eyes.

"Why are you pushing yourself, Alex. You just got better."

"It's fine aunt Emi. This is something that I want to do. Ever since my birth, I have been a weak child. I was unable to do many things a normal child could. I couldn't even spend time with all of you. But now that I've gotten better, I would like to help our family more and spend some more time with everyone while doing so."

Hearing my reply, Aunt's face relaxed a bit. But she still seemed grumpy about this entire situation.

"All that is fine, Alex but you must still take good care of yourself. Do your work in moderation. Even though you have now gotten better, you're still 5 years nod." My mother spoke to me in an admonishing tone while pouting the entire time.

Seeing me nod at her words bought this discussion to an end. While we were eating dessert, my dad seemed to remember the conversation that took place previously.

"Alex, weren't you going to visit our pokemon ranch after this?"

"Yes, I was about to remind you about it," I replied to his question, to which he nodded.

"Alright, I will ask Arthur to drive you to the ranch after we finish our meal."

As soon as we finished our meal, I quickly excused myself to my room to change my clothes for the desired occasion. After bidding my parents goodbye and getting a reminder from my aunt to come back before dark, I exited the mansion to see Arthur and his Umbreon waiting for me.

"Are we ready to leave, young master?" Arthur inquired after seeing me arrive. He was still as stoic as ever.

"Yes, uncle Arthur, let's go," I replied as we got ready to leave. While I was looking towards his Umbreon, he seemed to notice my gaze and grinned at me. Amusement was visible in its eyes.

Damn pokemon, it still remembers that embarrassing incident, I thought as I glared at it. I will have my revenge.

But even the ridicule from that stupid Umbreon was unable to stop the anticipation within my heart. How would it? I was finally going to meet the pokemon that I could have only dreamt of meeting in my past life.

This was going to be the start of a new chapter of my life!
