Chapter 28

Phew so it has been a crazy few weeks, since I've received Abra I can only say that things have been looking up. It started off a bit slow were we assessed her abilities and competency with her moves which were on a whole other level than the others what they started out. Granted she only had a single one to her name but her proficiency with said move was leagues above the others.

From the get-go Abra was able to short range 'teleport' around the apartment, and yeah you might think 'hey Sam, Abra's can normally do that, what's the big deal?', well let me enlighten you. In a normal world said Pokémon have been living around certain area for a while so are used to the environment, so when they want to 'teleport' they are aware of their surrounds due to their familiarity.

Yet for a new Pokémon to the world who is in a strange location they are unaware of to be able to freely 'teleport', well that is pretty impressive. It had me thinking though, if she was able to do that, then what facilitated the use of 'teleport', she wasn't used to the area, and everything was new to her so how did it happen.

It made me think about her typing and just what Psychics are actually able to do, could there be some additional effect to their sensing ability beyond reading minds? What if they project their typing energy out and connect to people that was done subconsciously, this could then mean that by spreading her typing energy out she was able to get a feel for her surrounds.

This could have some serious ramifications going forward, if this was right then could we also develop it to be able to consciously scan her surroundings. It could find hidden rooms, know where everyone is located and give us advanced warnings of danger. We need to try and get her proficiency with the energy up there so we can put it to use.

But enough of that I have found out some more groundbreaking information that blew my mind; my previous thought that the level system from the games were more of a guideline was pretty much confirmed when Cinder started figuring out 'Fire fang' when he was getting close to level 16.

Then after training on his flame control with 'Ember' and finally getting the temperature change down, we saw the flames after releasing the move lingering in his mouth just that bit longer than it normally would.

This confused me for a moment as I had assumed that he would have to be more advanced before he would have been even close to that, but I guess I didn't think being able to control the temperature would have increased his affinity with his Fire type energy so much.

It saw us focusing on that move even more and soon after reaching level 16 he was able to use it for a short time. It seemed that knowing the move that didn't equate to proficiency due to the short life of the duration. Until we got more of a handle on it, the move would remain a short time use option.

From working with Cinder even more after noticing this change, I was able to also notice that the little guy had been changing ever so slightly, his skull was getting more pointed, and it had developed a bit of a bump on top of his head and his skin has been gradually darkening. On top of that his tail flame had been growing in size.

This made me think that he was getting ready to evolve, though I didn't know how it was going to proceed. Was the process going to be a gradual thing until he finally changed into a Charmeleon or would it get to a point and then stop until he made a final burst and changed all at once.

I didn't have to wait long as it was soon after leveling up that we were out for our usual nighttime activities, and it happened. Upon coming across a minor gang fight the had unfortunately involved some innocent bystanders who upon inspection had been injured by said fight we sprang into action.

We had turned into a well-oiled machine at this point in our efficiency in taking this level of individuals down. Abra 'teleported' down the lane to the opposite end of the confrontation and in concert with Gastly used 'Confusion' or something similar to it while Gastly used 'Confuse Ray'.

By now Gastly had increased his proficiency with the move being able to get a much wider spread on the move encompassing more individuals and his spread overlapped with Abra's causing double the effect.

Cinder used this moment to jump into action and letting out a ferocious 'growl' he knocked multiple assailants on their back and channeling his fire type energy he released a lower temperature 'Ember' that pushed up the surrounding temperature causing everyone around to sweat.

Moving in tandem with Cinder, Gastly and Abra we subdued the gang members and after finishing a few minor scuffles we had them all tied up and it called into the Police. In the process of moving to the civilians to assess the injuries I noticed the temperature slowly rising and in confusion I turned around to spot a bright white light emanating from Cinder.

Watching in amazement as the light got brighter and brighter enlarging until it reached over 1 metre slowly pushing to 1.5 until it stopped somewhere in between. The light started pulsating and gradually was turning from the bright white to more yellow until it finally settled on a more orange/red variant.

It then shrank slightly and dimmed until it looked light it was sucked into the body of the now 1.2/1.3m tall lizard who then opened his eyes staring right at me. We paused for a moment until he let a grin cross his face and I ran over to him in absolute joy at his accomplishment.
