Chapter 4: Jubilife Village

"We're almost there, young man... better get ready."

I yawned and stretched my arms out, still feeling a bit drowsy from the sleep last night.

Although Honedge and I managed to find a cave to stay in for the night, even a river with drinkable water and a tree full of Oran berries.

But I did not get the proper sleep that I wanted, the ground was too hard and cold to even lie down comfortably.

Heck, I had to wake up from time to time due to my back and shoulder screaming from the soreness.

And what's worse was I didn't have time to make a blanket, so I had to shiver from the cold throughout the night.

Though, I admit that one was my fault for being lazy.

"Yawn..."

I actually felt slightly envious of my Honedge as he didn't seem to feel anything at all last night and even had good ass sleep compared to mine.

Hah... I swear, the moment I get to the Jubilife village, I'm buying a tent and a sleeping bag first.

Yup, and maybe buy pokéballs or get its crafting method cause I saw a lot of Pokemon that were interesting along the way.

And I wanted to capture them, the only reason I didn't was due to the fear that I might not have any Pokéballs left to use

I mean, what if I find a super rare Pokemon and I just happen to not have any pokéballs left?

Wouldn't it be such a shame if I couldn't capture it?

Of course, I could just come back but then again, what if that Pokemon I wanted to catch is forever gone?

There's always that possibility, no matter how low the chance of that ever happening.

"Umu"

Well, I'll just deal with it once I really have tons and tons of pokéballs on me.

Yes, I'll definitely have to come back here in the future.

And speaking about here, it seems that I was sent in the Obsidian Fieldlands or that is what the boatman called these parts of the land anyway.

"We're here, you can get off the boat now"

"Oh, thanks... and you sure you don't want me to pay?"

"There's no need, I do this for free"

I smiled and bowed my head at the kindness of the boatman which got me a chuckle out of the boatman's mouth.

He's a much nicer and chill dude compared to that stinking old man yesterday.

"Plus, you don't look like you have some money in you anyway"

"..."

"So, it'll be useless for me to even ask some"

I coughed, trying to hide my embarrassment as what he said was absolutely true. Though, I was planning to pay him in Oran berries in the first place if he had asked.

"Right... can you point me in the direction of Jubilife Village"

"Just go over that hills in the distance and walk for an hour, then you'll arrive at the front gate of the Village"

"Thanks again, Mr. Boatman"

"The name's Jimmy, you better remember it"

"I will"

I waved my hands goodbye at Jimmy with a smile before turning around and walking away with Honedge floating by my side.

"Well... since it'll take an hour to get there, shall we level up in the meantime, Honedge?"

- Shing! Shing!

『Wing Attack』

"Honedge, use Quick Attack to dodge!"

Hearing my shout, Honedge's figure instantly flickered away as he constantly disappear and appear all over the battlefield, dodging the Wing Attacks from the wild Starly with ease.

- Starly! Starly!

I then saw the wild Starly angrily flap its wing in the air, trying its best to hit my Honedge with its attack but sadly none of them were successful.

And as time passes by, the wild Starly started to slowly lose its breath as its attack gradually became sluggish.

I immediately knew that this was the perfect chance to counterattack and so I did.

"Honedge, Aerial Ace!"

The moment Honedge heard my order, he narrowed his eyes and instantly adopted a stance.

And in a blink of an eye, he disappeared from his position and appeared right in front of the wild Starly.

- Starly?!

Without giving it a chance to react, my Honedge had already swiftly attacked the wild Starly, giving it a devastating slash on its chest.

Slash!

The wild Starly cried out in pain before rolling its eyes back and losing the strength to fly as it slowly fell to the sky.

- Starly...

The wild Starly crashed to the ground and cried out one last time before its eyes twirled into a spiral, signifying the end of the battle.

I smiled and stretched my entire body, letting out a satisfied sigh before patting Honedge's handle.

Ah... this is the excitement that I yearned for in the past.

If I was still in my old world then I wouldn't be able to experience something like this.

And I would still be the same boring and depressed adult whose only thing to know is working every day.

But that past me is now gone and a new me has been born.

I wouldn't be feeling this new and profound feeling if I hadn't transmigrated into this world.

The thrill of the battle, the feeling of pride in seeing my Pokemon grow, and the fatigued after a good-ass journey.

"Hah~"

So, this is what Ash has been feeling when he was traveling, huh...

It felt both amazing and exhilarating!

"Yosh, let's go, Honedge. I can already see the outline of the village in the distance"

At the entrance of Jubilife Village...

Two uniformed men were seen standing at each side of the wooden gate with eyes as sharp as a hawk and with a face that screams, "I am not to be messed with".

And while the two were standing guard at the gate, vigilantly watching every move in the surroundings.

A silhouette of an unfamiliar young man could be seen in the far distance of the road, gradually getting closer and closer until the two finally noticed the outsider.

"...!"

This made the two guardsmen narrow their eyes and tense up as they clench the pokéballs on their waists, preparing for any possible battle.

And they waited until the young man was finally in front of the gate and only then, did they notice a small knife or blade floating just behind him.

'A Pokemon!!'

The two thought as they became even more nervous and tense.

After all, not many people in the village are capable enough to capture a Pokemon or even approach one.

And all of those who have at least one Pokemon are people that should not be messed with as they either have a high standing in the village or are strong enough to capture a Pokemon by themselves.

They knew this fact since they, themselves have a Pokemon as a partner. Though, they only managed to capture their Pokemons by luck.

"Halt! State your name and reason!"

One of the guardsmen raised his hands and shouted while the other stayed vigilant.

As for the young man who had just arrived, he couldn't help but flinch from the yell and almost tripped.

"Woah... almost had an embarrassing moment there"

The young man coughed to ease his mood as he tidied up his clothes and cleared his throat.

"Oh... Uhh... the name's Shiroe and this is my partner, Honedge"

- Shing! Shing!

"And we came here to buy supplies for our travel"

Shiroe put a professional smile and nodded, feeling satisfied at his introduction as he put both his hands on his hip.

As for the two guardsmen, they only stood in silence in response and stared at Shiroe with scrutinized eyes.

"..."

An uncomfortable silence lingered in the air as no one said a single word until Shiroe couldn't handle the atmosphere anymore and opened his mouth.

"So... can I come in now?"

"No"

"...huh"

Shiroe blinked a couple of times, trying to process the guardsman's words before remembering something as his eyes lit up.

"How about I help you complete the Pokedex?"

"...!?"

"Surely, that will get me a pass inside now, wouldn't it?"

"You... how did you-"

The two guardsmen had their eyes wide open, feeling perplexed at how an outsider managed to know such a secret that only the Galaxy team members and a few villagers knows.

And they were about to interrogate Shiroe but before they could do that, a tall man with pale skin, black hair, and a long mustache walked out of the gate.

"Oh? So, you want to help complete the Pokedex, you say?"

The two guardsmen flinched and hurriedly saluted to the mysterious man with respect and admiration in their eyes.

"Commander Kamado!"

"C-Commander Kamado!"

Kamado waved his hands at them, indicating to put their salutes down while still keeping an eye on Shiroe with a glint in his eyes.

"So, what do you say, young man"

"Of course, I'll help if it can get me inside the Village that is"

"Hoh, then you'll have to first pass a test if you truly wish to join"

Shiroe beamed a wide smile after hearing the commander's words and let out a slight chuckle.

"So, what's the test?"
