Inner Struggle
Looking at Riolu who was even more ashamed, made him smile even more. He never gets enough of teasing the little one. Anyway, something he knows is that he shouldn't train his partner yet, after all, it was still considered a newborn, and what would happen in this no man's land.
There was a little number of kids in this village and they all dreamed of exploring but Altair was different he enjoyed the place he was at and he didn't want to give up his place of comfort for too long, even in his previous life he was like that, although he had his adventures from time to time, he spent most of his time at home where he felt the most secure.
But he still had a lot of time to think about it, right now he just wants to enjoy his life here. Calm and enjoyable days.
And so days went through and like a breeze, a year went by without notice. Altair and Riolu were sitting cross-legged and looking at each other, both have grown a little bit and Altair looked delicate and cute with big round eyes that had a mix of colors to it something strange but that everyone just thought the cause had been the ritual, even though it was strange it just made him unique and gave a closeness to it if stared at by the pair of eyes, the mark on his forehead gave him a mysterious look to him and coupled with his shiny white hair that had strands of each color scattered here and there just amplified his charm not talking about his delicate white skin that was completely spotless making people jealous, but well they could only blame it to genetics? or maybe the ritual? Riolu, on the other hand, didn't change much just growing a little in size but it began to depend a lot on Altair just giving the Timid vibe to him, and although it wasn't a bad thing it would be detrimental for future fights. With a little bit of education, he became a little independent in thinking, this helped in developing Riolus's Hidden ability that was Aura reading.
A Hidden ability that helps the user read people and pokemon emotions by reading their Aura. Like the Trait name implies. A pretty good ability if you want to know people's objective towards you and your owner. After all the aura you emit when you see someone you don't like or have bad ideas on will be completely different than the other way around. Besides, it helped Riolu and Altair getting closer since when Altair felt a little down Riolu just refused to stay 1 meter far from him.
The good news for Altair is that as predicted that his Riolu has a timid personality.
And with this information, he began to train Riolu softly, after all, it was still maturing, and besides, even when you are playing you exercising some muscles and that was the focus of Altair making Riolu crave for speed like playing tag with it or just training his reaction time with throwing a stick towards his right side or left and if he caught it mid-air he would get a berry. Nope, he wasn't treating his Riolu like a dog at all.
After all Timid personality pokemon get an increase in speed and a natural decrease in Physical attack, this information might sound trivial but if you know your pokemon nature early you can just build it in excelling in certain stats or the moves you want it to learn.
For example Riolus case it can have a whole bunch of natures obviously but the best for it go from Jolly and Timid. Jolly will have an increase in speed and a decrease in special attack while Timid also gets a boost in speed and in the other hand a decrease in Attack.
Both natures have a similarity that is the boost in speed and differ in the Attack and Special attack decrease, and both will be having completely different skill sets to learn. After all, you won't be placing a mage in the frontline or a warrior in the backline. And pokemon natures just determine the skills that you will be making your pokemon learn.
Riolu with the Jolly trait will be learning close combat abilities to max the potential on Attack learning Meteor mash, Bullet Punch, Close Combat, Thunder Punch moves like that make it think like a Fighter that can coat his weapons with energy and using it to beat in close range.
In contrast, Riolu with Timid trait will be going more Special attack base moves like Aura Sphere, Vacuum Wave, Shadow Ball, and Steel Beam moves more orientated to long range.
But this doesn't mean that they can learn the other personality moves it's just that they won't be having as much damage or feel comfortable using them.
At this precise moment like mentioned before, Altair is concentrating on looking at his Riolu, the important progress of an owner, the step that you should know.
That is knowing the pokemon gender. This can branch into two sections. One protecting her if Riolu is a she or just making him bring a wife home soon if he is a he. After all, you wouldn't like it if your daughter came home with a random bimbo right?
It may be biased but hello? Ain't no one going to lay the seed on the daughter before approval... P-E-R-I-O-D.
Meanwhile, Riolu was looking at his owner and partner in confusion tilting his head. Its owner has been staring at it for a good couple of minutes now, and its perception just told him that this was an important moment for both of their relationship so it just stayed there wondering.
Altair began searching around his pokemon and to no avail, where is the lollipop? where is the Marian rift? Let's not even talk about those he didn't even find where it pooped. Maybe they just hid it and it miraculously opens?
(Do pokemon poop or Pee? SCIENCE TELLS ME, YES BUT MY MIND TELLS ME NO. And I follow my mind. PROVE ME WRONG.)
Altair began to make theories but in the middle of all this light began to emit from his stomach and out of nowhere a pen and a notebook came out. This made him stop the dilemma of his life to the relief of Riolu and concentrate on the unknown objects.
The pen didn't look that different from other pens just looking luxurious with crystals all over the body, but a sense of existence radiated from it like it was destined and made for him.
After inspecting the pen and realizing it was quite ordinary after all he couldn't do anything besides writing with it and nothing really happened so he decided to open the notebook.
The cover of the notebook was completely white and with black lines with the following words ''BOOK'' in pitch black.
Reading this the first thought that came to Altair's mind was 'This thing is playing with me.' but those thoughts aside and he just flipped to the first page.
Nothing out of the ordinary this until he saw the pen floating alone, scaring him like no tomorrow, and began to sway in the first page scribbling and words. And to his relief, it only had a question.
What do you want to do?
A question Altair couldn't answer at the moment after all he just hasn't thought much about this matter.
What did he want to do in this new world?
World Domination? no not his type at all and troublesome.
Become the best trainer in the world? maybe but still after getting to the top what after?
Capturing the God Pokemon? Good idea but troublesome, that would be great but he wouldn't want to place his pokemon at risk because of his greed.
Nothing came to him at the moment. This is the same as in his last world the world of work, what do you want to do? something enigmatic for most people.
So Altair just sighed feeling a little melancholic and closed the notebook after inspecting and realizing that nothing besides the first page had anything. After he closed the notebook both it and the pen just dissipated and a streak of light came and assimilated with him.
But this didn't even bother Altair of was having existential problems at this time.
Riolu watching his owner's mood sour from a moment to another walked toward him and gave him a get better hug.
''Ri~Ri~'' it kept saying while moving his head right and left in Altairs stomach.
Watching his partner being like this he couldn't be in this mood for long and cheered up immediately and just lifted him to his head level and began to rubs his cheek on Riolu.
''My little Riolu is such a caring one! what would I do without you cutie?''
