147 Chapter 147

"A pleasant time as always Giovanni," Professor Oak waved after the man as he made his way out of the Pokemon Centre a few minutes later, a massive container held within his arms, "We should do this again real soon."

Giovanni didn't even bother to respond. He hadn't actually said a word at all, to Oak. Or anyone really beyond myself.

Though he did pause to stare Delia in the eyes after we concluded our business. So weird.

And suspicious. Was he actually Ash's father here? I know there's at least one continuity where he is and this world seemed like an odd mesh of multiple continuities.

Eh, whatever. It wasn't really important in the grand scheme of things who Ash's dad actually was. What is important, is I'm sixty million pokedollars and one fissure TM richer.

I've literally more or less multiplied my money by like twenty five times. That is absurd. And if it wasn't for the fact that there were currently three rather beautiful women right in front of me, I'd be cheering like a maniac and hip thrusting the air in celebration.

…As for the Fissure TM, I'm gonna teach that to Charizard.

"He didn't say a word to you." Professor Cerise pointed out as Giovanni disappeared through the Pokemon Centre entrance and out of sight.

"I know," Oak merely grinned though, "That man needs to learn to lighten up though. You'd think he'd be happy he just got his hands on a bunch of fossils at a good price, no doubt he'll be bothering Blaine later today to revive them all for him."

"He's the same as ever," Delia rolled her eyes, "Doesn't care for anything but his own interests and just throws money around to get his way, he's not changed a lick since we were teenagers."

"I'm sensing some tension there," I pointed out, I may as well see about soothing my curiosity with the chance presented here, "Ex-boyfriend?" I grinned at her.

"Ex-fiance actually," Delia just laughed, "He's actually my Ashy's dad, but we had a difference of opinion on how we wanted to raise him when he was born, so we ended up splitting up just after he was born."

Huh, Giovanni actually was Ash's dad here, neat. That was good to know I suppose.

"That was a rough time," Professor Oak nodded sagely, "Don't get me wrong, Giovanni had the best intentions at heart at the time, but the way he wanted to raise young Ash…well, it would have been quite rough."

"How so?" I asked, curious in spite of myself.

"He wanted Ash to be raised in the mountains near Mount Silver," Delia snorted, "He wanted him to grow up in a rough, cold environment, around strong and powerful wild pokemon and pay for the best of the best teachers for him from his toddler years, off the top of my head he wanted him to be instructed in martial arts, finances, business and quite a few other things."

"That…is an odd way to want to raise a child." Professor Cerise grimaced.

"Giovanni believed the best way to raise his son was to make sure he was strong, disciplined, knowledgeable and such," Oak shrugged, "To make him the best he could be and never have to worry for him."

"That's all well and good, but in the process he'd have destroyed his childhood," Delia huffed, "I don't doubt my Ashy would have been all of those things easily with that kind of upbringing, the difference though is I doubt he'd as happy as he is now, which is more important to me."

Wow, just wow.

It kind of sounded like Giovanni wanted to raise Ash as the perfect heir, who would have been better than him in every single way. Kinda surreal to think, that if that did happen, Ash right now would probably be a high ranking member of Team Rocket, probably second in command.

Or third. Honestly, I'm not sure how Madame Rocket factors into things in this world, Giovanni's mother.

Thinking on it, considering how absurd Ash's physical abilities were and how far he got while knowing jack shit, a full on champion and contender for best trainer in the world - if he was raised like that, he would have been a god- Arceus damn monster.

"I don't disagree, I just understand his point," Professor Oak lifted his hands placatingly towards Delia for a moment, before coughing and turning his attention to me, "Still, this isn't the place for this kind of topic and we've been shifted off topic once more. I'll get right to the point before we get distracted again, Jord would you be adverse at all to allowing myself or Professor Cerise to oversee your fossil pokemon when you are not training with them? So that we may study them?"

"As in leave them at either of you two's labs?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Yes," Professor Cerise jumped in with a smile, "To be blunt as well, there has never been a situation like this, in fact calling them fossil pokemon is wrong since they were never dead in the first place. This is a ground breaking moment for pokemon study. The discoveries we could make observing your pokemon could open up all new avenues of research and massively deepen our understanding of these pokemon!" bit by bit as he spoke, more and more palpable excitement leaked into his voice until he was near shaking, vibrating in spot.

Well, I'm not all that averse to it. Letting them do it, would foster good relations between me and them, specifically with Professor Oak.

A connection like that would do me well in the future for sure. But, I'm not the type to just be happy with that. I want to squeeze everything I can out of these guys while I can.

Getting any concessions out of them after letting them do so, will be a pipe dream. So right now, is my only chance to get the maximum benefits.
