Pokemon Gray

The fight between truth and ideals, a confrontation that continues through the ages and which never seems to have an end. This story tries to capture the essence of Unova, what each character represents and what was one of the best if not the best Pokémon story. -Pokémon and the image do not belong to me, and I only try to interpret the characters through this fanfic. -Any advice to improve is welcome. -The story is inspired by the game and not the anime. -There will be small changes, but I will be as faithful to the story as possible. -The names of some characters change depending on the language, so I will name them as I know them. -At the start the writing is quite simple, but I improve my writing in every chapter, so don't worry :P.

Gym of Opelucid City: Part 1

Touya slowly walked towards the Opelucid City Gym while talking to Sawk next to him.

"Hey bud, can you by any chance use ice punch after seeing it at Beartic?" Touya asked Sawk with a bit of hope.

"Sawk" Sawk said shaking his head and punching the air, hinting that special training was needed for that.

"Well then this will be hard, it's the first time we haven't had a type advantage in the gym" Touya said a little concerned about the strength of the dragon types and their lack of the greatest advantage.

"Sawk" Sawk said confidently as he raised his fist.

"Yup, it'll have to be the old-fashioned way" Touya said to Sawk with a smile and then reached the Opelucid city gym.

Interestingly, the Opelucid city gym contrasted with the cybernetic and modern environment of the city, since it seemed to be made of an ancient stone and to have an ancient appearance with half of it black and the other half white, together with a dragon head sticking out of each part.

"I just hope Drayden doesn't have strange likes like the other leaders" Touya said with a bit of reluctance when noticing the impressive scene.

"Sawk" Sawk said patting Touya on the back and then retreating to his pokeball.

"I'm more and more proud of you" Touya said, shedding a tear of pride when noticing his bad influence on his pokemon.

Touya entered the gym which reminded him quite of the Dragonspiral tower with the old look of it and the occasional pillar whose usefulness is questionable.

But the most impressive were some large oriental dragons made of black stone that seemed to be able to move by themselves.

As always and this time as the last, Conse was in front of the entrance waiting for Touya.

"Welcome to the Opelucid city gym young challenger, Drayden has already told me about you, I wish you luck in this gym" said Conse greeting Touya with a calm smile.

"Tell me Conse, how can I get to Drayden?" Touya said with a bit of nervousness as he pointed to an upper floor that most likely Drayden was on.

"Well, although it sounds impressive, you can make the stone dragons move until they point upwards and thus reach Drayden, although for that you will have to overcome all your challenges and touch the buttons on their hands" Conse said with an explanatory tone while he was pointing to white buttons in the dragons' hands.

"Meh, I've seen worse, thanks Conse" Touya said with a shrug and then walked towards his first challenge.

Touya walked through a small path until he reached the tail of the dragon, then walked through it and reached his first challenge.

"Welcome challenger, are you ready for your first Opelucid gym challenge?" said a woman a little older than Touya who was wearing a typical blue and yellow trainer outfit.

"Go ahead" Touya said as he reached for a pokeball in his bag with a confident smile.

"Go Deino" said the trainer and then throw a pokeball from which came out what seemed to be a small emo dog, which emanated great force despite its size.

"You will go first Sawk" Touya said throwing a pokeball from which Sawk came out with excitement for the fight.

They both thought of their first move and the match began.

"Deino use crunch" the trainer said seriously and confidently.

"Sawk use double kick and then brick break" Touya said quickly.

To Touya's surprise, Deino did not seem to see very well and only began to bite what he had in front of him, only to be easily defeated by Sawk with a blow to the back of the neck.

"Haaaaa, I guess he's not ready for combat yet" the trainer said with a bit of pity for her defeat.

"Why don't you cut his hair, I'm sure he would do very well" Touya said confusedly making the trainer nervous.

"B-believe me, it's better to leave him like that" said the trainer getting a little chill and increasing Touya's curiosity.

Following this, Touya pressed a button and the dragon's head moved to the side, giving way to a new path and Touya's second challenge.

"Welcome challenger to your second challenge before the leader! Although I will have to stop you here, after all I doubt that you can defeat my dragon" said a blue haired trainer with the same outfit as the previous one.

"We'll see about that" Touya said with a challenging smile which was returned by the trainer.

"Come out Fraxure" said the trainer, pulling out what appeared to be a large green bipedal lizard with a straight blade in his jaw.

"Go Krookodile, it's your turn" Touya said throwing a pokeball from which Krookodile came out adjusting his glasses.

They both thought about their first move and the fight began.

"Fraxure use dragon dance" said the trainer confidently.

"Krookodile use bulldoze and then foul play" Touya said quickly reacting to the trainers's plan.

Fraxure did a strange short dance, which caused a destructive aura to surround him for a moment and give him more strength and speed.

Krookodile for his part, hit the ground hard causing Fraxure's legs to damage a bit and he staggered due to his weight, causing his speed to slow again, and then approaching him with his fist surrounded by dark energy.

"Fraxure use dragon claw" said the trainer a little upset when noticing Krookodile's closeness.

"Krookodile use scary face and finish him off" Touya said without getting upset by the trainer's quick reaction.

Krookodile looked at Fraxure maliciously making him hesitate for a second and then take advantage of that and hit him with great force on the head.

The foul play attack deals more damage according to the target's own strength, so due to Fraxure's great strength as a dragon, it was weakened by a single attack which impressed Touya.

'They are stronger than I thought, but at least they are slow for now' Touya thought a little worried about the strength of the dragons.

"Well done Krookodile, you can rest a bit" Touya said with a thumb up receiving a nod and a smile from Krookodile and then he went back to his pokeball.

"Congratulations challenger, but I have to say that you still have the third challenge which is much more complicated" said the trainer with a warning tone and returning Fraxure to his pokeball.

After this Touya kept pressing buttons, going from one dragon to the other and he has to be honest, it was difficult not to get lost, but after a couple more tries he reached his last challenge before Drayden.

"Welcome to your last challenge, I have to show you the power of dragons" said a man dressed in with a coat and a black hat seriously.

Touya didn't feel too intimidated but he still took the upcoming fight seriously.

"Come out Druddigon" said the trainer throwing a pokeball from which came out a bipedal occidental-looking dragon with 1.60 meters tall, tough menacing-looking scales and a red head with a blue body.

"Go Darmanitan" Touya said throwing a pokeball also from which Darmanitan came out this time in his normal mode.

They both thought about their first move and the fight began.

"Druddigon use dragon dance" said the trainer seriously and focused on combat.

"Darmanitan use taunt and then fire punch" Touya said reacting quickly.

Darmanitan managed to trick Druddigon by causing him to become enraged and forget to use dragon dance to just want to attack him.

Darmanitan rushed up to Druddigon and struck his chest hard, but upon impact something quite strange happened.

Druddigon's scales caused the fire from Darmanitan's fists to burn out and damage less than expected, plus his spiky scales did some damage to Darmanitan as well.

"Druddigon use dragon claw" said the trainer with a confident smile.

"Darmanitan use incinerate and dodge it" Touya said coming out of his shock.

Although Darmanitan didn't do any damage with incinerate it was enough to cover Druddigon's view for a moment, making it easier to dodge.

Druddigon ended up hitting the ground, leaving three large claw marks on this.

'I think I really need a dragon-type in my team, in addition to some ice-type attacks' Touya thought upon seeing the ridiculous destructive power of dragons.

"Druddigon use dragon tail" the trainer said quickly when he saw that Darmanitan dodged the attack.

"Darmanitan use thrash" Touya said, snapping out of his thoughts.

Druddigon wagged his tail with force being stopped by a blow from Darmanitan that although it did a little damage, Darmanitan was able to overcome Druddigon in strength.

"Druddigon use crunch" said the trainer a little concerned.

"Keep it up Darmanitan, you know where to hit" Touya said seriously receiving a nod from Darmanitan.

Druddigon opened his mouth to bite Darmanitan, to which he responded by hitting his jaw, doing great damage and then hitting him in the stomach and knocking him out of action.

"Good job friend" Touya said with a smile and then approached Darmanitan and heal his damaged hands with a potion.

"Congratulations challenger, you can face the leader, but I have to warn you that the strength of his dragons is far above mine" said the trainer with a warning tone, healing Druddigon a little and saving him in his pokeball.

At this, Touya nodded seriously and went to gym leader Drayden.

And when he arrived, Drayden and Conse were waiting for him.

I just finished writing the end of the history, so I will update 2 chapters starting today until the end, so, enjoy it!
