10 CHAPTER 9: FIRST YEAR

1 year can be a long or a short period depending on the lifestyle you lead, but for Alec, it really seemed quite short.

The first thing he did after settling in was to ask Professor Aurea about improving pokemon qualification, who, although somewhat amazed, mentioned that, although this topic had been studied and there were already convenient results, it was not a topic that should be mentioned to the public, for 2 reasons in particular.

"While it has been shown that pokemon of the same species can have differences in strength, it was unanimously decided not to make this public because of the storm that would follow, as every trainer would abandon their low rated pokemon in favor of a new one, Also, don't think that the rating is everything, we did different tests and it has been shown that a good human pokemon bond can overcome this gap.

Hearing this, Alec nodded innocently, but inside, he doubted this statement, but decided not to say anything and ask for the 2nd reason.

"As for the latter, multiple experiments have shown that while it is possible to raise the rating of pokemon, there is only opportunity when they are still pokemon eggs, or when they are about to evolve, moreover, the resources for it are too expensive and rare."

This made Alec sigh inside, but he still steeled himself and asked the professor to use that method to hatch her dragon pokemon, the payment would be done by placing any order she had.

This surprised the professor a little, who after thinking about it she agreed, but she looked at Alec seriously and asked who had told her about the rating and potential of the pokemon.

This almost made Alec break out in a cold sweat, but he managed to make up the excuse that while training his little mareep he noticed the difference in strength between him and the others, so he deduced that he should have better potential.

At that moment, the professor stared at him before nodding and accepting his explanation, but she was amazed that at such a young age she could already notice these details, so during that month she asked him some questions and tests on other topics and pokemon, to which Alec responded with what he could, involving so much what he knew of his previous world with that of this one, which left the professor amazed and she decided to make him her personal assistant, helping her with her research and experiments.

So Alec officially became one of the professor's little apprentices, following her everywhere, though any pay he might receive went all to her baby dragon's incubation fluid.

The place where Alec lived was the professor's house in the village, where one of Alec's daily tasks was to keep the house clean.

It was thus that Alec learned about the other side of the professor, and, like the flashback he had, it was just as he had imagined.

The first time he entered the professor's house, he did not find anything strange at first sight, but strangely he saw a rather exhausted minccino in the living room, which caused a foreboding to fill his heart, it was only when he entered the room. kitchen that knew that his true martyrdom was beginning.

"Well, while I shouldn't generalize, I couldn't expect more from a single person at his age."

Thus, Alec became the housewife when she was in the professor's house, and his brilliant apprentice when she was in the laboratory.

Something that made Alec happy was that, in the professor's house, there was a small library with very important and non-public knowledge books, and when he asked the professor about it, she said that most of them had been taken from your father.

Professor Aurea's father was Professor Juniper, a brilliant pokemon researcher who retired to give her daughter the mantle when she showed her brilliance.

There were many topics in these books, such as pokemon breeding, how to make food depending on the pokemon species, and even about the potential of pokemon, although he only found a few reports on this topic, and all written by the same person, Professor Nirio Artyles.

This made Alec quite interested in this professor, so, doing some research, he discovered that almost most of the knowledge about the potential and qualification, as well as the improvement of the potential of the pokemon, everything was raised and demonstrated by the professor Nirio Artyles, who was a well-known researcher in the research circle, but because this topic was forbidden to be disclosed, he was only recognized as a brilliant professor to the masses.

It was so that Alec collected all the material he found about Professor Nirio's research and was fascinated by his great intelligence and insight, so he asked Professor Aurea about the professor, who, with a complicated look, told him that Professor died on an accident.

Alec found himself quite dejected by this, so he didn't notice that the professor's complicated expression wasn't just for the deceased professor, but for him as well.

This is how Alec's first year passed, where he helped the professor with her research, in the house he was in charge of cleaning and food, in his free time he read about Professor Nirio's reports and about raising pokemon.

On this particular day, he received a message from Benga, where she informed Alec that his pokemon egg had hatched and now had a new dratini, and even attached a picture of him along with his larva and dratini.

"So a dratini huh, you lucky bastard, of all the pseudo-legendary dragon pokemon, dratini is relatively easy to breed and is the friendliest."

Due to the existence of the dragon cave in Johto, and the ancestral family of the Johto champion Lance, raising this particular dragon pokemon, with the equivalent influence and trade, would not be difficult for Benga at all.

"*sigh*, I don't know if it's because of the incubation fluid or some other reason, but the pokemon egg still shows no signs of hatching."

Although not all pokemon eggs hatched, calling dead eggs specifically to this group, Alec had already ruled out his pokemon egg being from this group, as he could still see the bright rainbow as his pokemon's potential, plus different tests in the lab of the professor had shown that the egg was still alive.

"Most likely, due to the incubation fluid, the little baby dragon is still absorbing the nutrients from it, so the time until hatching has been prolonged."

His hypothesis was not unreasonable, both Professor Aurea and he reached this conclusion after consulting different sources of information.

"Well, it's not all bad, it gives me time to save even more for her feed, getting the different components for her feed won't be cheap, luckily, my debt for the hatching liquid ends this year."

Indeed, even with what the professor paid Alec monthly, which was even more than Alder initially thought, this was because Alec had shown his brilliance, so he was officially promoted to the professor's main assistant and shared part of the research funds and even in the scientific community of the league, had published some documents under a pseudonym by the recommendation of the professor.

Still, it was only after a year that he finally paid off the debt to the professor, which shows how expensive his incubation fluid was.

But Alec never regretted his decision, and even if it was more expensive, he would still be willing to invest, after all, it is his companions that will accompany him during his trip, which, unlike the game or the anime, he could put into danger his life.

Thinking this far, Alec got up from his bed and went to prepare food for him and the professor, as for the cleaning, she had already done it yesterday, so she didn't have to worry about this matter.

Thus, once this was done, he took a bento and went to the laboratory, where many of the assistants looked at him with respect, this because, during this year, he had already shown them his genius in the field of research, so that seeing the birth of another future pokemon professor, the respect they gave him was natural.

Given this, Alec was never arrogant or act cocky, he always greeted and tried to help others as much as he could, this made him gain the trust of many of his colleagues in the laboratory and they even annoyed him.

Without knowing when it started, he was given the nickname of the professor's "little boyfriend", due to the fact that he was in charge of both cooking and cleaning their home, not to mention that since he was her assistant, he spent most of his time with her.

This left Alec quite speechless, and he tried to change this, but because even the professor didn't take him seriously, Alec ended up giving up and accepting his "nickname" calmly.

Although of course, this was only talked about during breaks or days off, the rest of the time, they were quite serious with him and the professor.

It didn't take long for Alec to enter the professor's office, which was where her little lab coat that he wore when he was in the lab working with her was located, which he put on leaving the bento on the table.

The professor seemed to be talking to someone else via video conference, so she decided not to disturb her while she waited patiently.

Not long after, the professor finished speaking, and with a sigh, she got up and stretched, before seeing the bento on the table and Alec sitting across from her waiting patiently.

At this, she smiled and walked over to grab the bento before eating happily.

"Your food is as delicious as ever Alec, I don't know what I would do without you."

At this, Alec gave him a look of contempt before smiling wryly:

"Aurea nee-san, everything would be easier for you if you organized your time well."

Hearing this, Professor Aurea just smiled before replying:

"Who needs to organize their time when they have an Alec in their lives."

Alec, hearing this, quickly refuted:

"Tell that to the poor minccino who was in charge of the housework before he arrived."

Upon hearing this, a somewhat embarrassed look appeared on the professor's face, luckily for her, they were in her office, which no one entered without knocking first.

Thus, the professor quickly finished her bento, to which a serious look appeared on her face before saying to Alec:

"How much do you know about other regions, Alec?"

Hearing her serious tone, Alec thought for a moment before replying:

"Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova, Kalos, Alola and Galar, leaving aside the last 2, whose relationships with the other regions are not fully established, I know quite a bit about the others."

Although Alec knew more about Alola and Galar than he had actually said, it was just his knowledge of animation and games, but the situation in this world was a bit more complicated.

Hearing this, the professor nodded at Alec, before dropping a bombshell at him:

"In a week, we will go to Alola."
