"Well, that's surprising," I murmur looking at my Pokebook profile. I didn't expect my follower count to double in the span of a few weeks.

If this keeps on going on, I'll be called the Crystal Onix guy instead of Flint's son or Future Gym Leader. Which in my opinion isn't the worst I could be called, but it will get old quite quickly.

Flint told me that I could get Crystal Onix when I receive two official gym badges which will take a while. I think he used this to become some kind of encouragement on my journey. With Brock's guide, I should be fine depending on the situation.

He gave me things such as kitchen tools, pans, pots and a special seasoning packet called maggi sarap. While I bought other stuff like sleeping bags and food ingredients.

The bag I got stores food and preserves it for over a month. So I'll only need to restock supplies once every month or earlier. With this, I could spend a lot of time in the wild exploring.

Basically, anything I could need when I go on my journey is in my bag.

With the start of the indigo league and my journey starting soon, I've been trying to soak up all the battle experience and training for Aron I could. The only problem I currently have is the strength and efficiency of move usage by Aron.

Aron was forced by my Dad and me to train his body and decision-making. This is because you can improve your move pool at any time, but your body won't rapidly increase in strength by prematurely evolving.

So most of Aron's losses are from misusing his moves or not being able to charge them up in time.

"It's your turn man!" I hear Clark say near the entrance of the huge hallway. Looking up ahead I see the guy wear a huge smirk on his face.

"Did you beat the last challenger?" I question.

"Nope! Now you gotta battle the next guy, he's gotten three official gym badges and six allied badges." He says with a relieved look. Hearing this I start to get an annoyed look

No wonder this guy is so happy, he battled a complete newbie while I'm on the chopping block versing a guy near the end of the indigo season. He's just battling the gym for the sake of getting another official gym badge.

"No wonder you're so happy, this guy is gonna rail my Pokemon." I offhandedly comment walking past Clark. As I walked through the hall, I could barely hear a loud chuckle from behind.

'God damnit.' I thought to myself as I blocked the bright light from my eyes. Walking to the stage where I'd be battling. The field instead of a rocky terrain was made out of maple wood due to the challenger's request.

Tapping the ground, I retrieve one Onix and a Graveller's Pokeball from the stand and get ready to battle. The first Pokemon I would send out would be Aron as he's the weakest in the selection I have.

This is due to his weak training in his move set, the only redeeming thing he has for this level of play is to shrug off almost every attack no matter the type.

"BEGIN!"

...

"The official gauntlet battle between Ryan Pike from Lumious City and Gym Trainer Forrest Harrison will commence. This will be a one-on-one and the winner is decided when the opponent's Pokemon is unable to battle. If the battle ends in a tie, the winner automatically is handed to the gym trainer." The referee says announcing the rules.

Having heard this possibly a thousand times, I gain a smile knowing this would be my final battle. The start of the indigo league occurred just a few days ago and trainers from all over the region and abroad are joining.

This will be my final battle till I can head out.

'Who should I use.' I ponder to myself as I tap the floor on the floor. As I do this a stand with a selection of pokeballs rose from the ground. Each one had a different sticker to signify what Pokemon and badge level they were.

Taking the Pokeball with the number 0 and a lightning symbol, I tap the floor again to let the stand return.

"BEGIN!"

Hearing this I soon after send out my Pokemon with my opponent clumsily doing the same.

"Geodude!"

"Froakie!"

'He's nervous.' I observe looking over at my opponent, Ryan Pike. Sadly I don't think someone like him could possibly get to the league unless he gained some confidence.

But it is possible.

Looking on ahead to my opponent, I realise he's not gonna make the first move. Well if he's so adamant about it I'll fall for his little trap. Alolan Geodude was brought over for the sole purpose of countering the gym's weakness to water types. Now this leaves us some weakness but it will surprise challengers that have water types.

Alolan Geodude still has a water weakness though and the gym doesn't have any better options.

"{Thunder Punch}." I simply say.

Geodude hearing this closes in towards Froakie to which the Frokie got a serious face. It proceeded to dodge the initial attack and make some space between the two.

"F-froakie use {Bubble}!" Ryan says after a short pause. Froakie hearing its trainer immediately jumps upwards and spits bubbles towards Geodude.

"Well, he could have done worse," I murmur seeing the move. He didn't freeze like what his posture implied. "Geodude {Rollout} to dodge and head for Froakie."

"Froakie use {Quick Attack} to make space and use {Bubble}!" My opponent shouts getting some confidence back. The kid seeing that he didn't get hit and Froakie dodge the attack, gave him some hope.

A huge mistake on his part is he doesn't know what {Rollout} does if it continues. The power increases, it doesn't matter if he doesn't get a hit off.

Froakie seeing the incoming Geodude after dodging his attacks engulfs itself in a white hue and speeds out of the vicinity. Soon after this Geodude redirected its course using the boulders around the battlefield.

"Fro!" Frokie proceeds to growl out as it uses {Bubble}" Geodude due to still using {Rollout} was forced to tank the hit. Luckily for me though due to its momentum increasing, Geodude broke through the bubbles and hit Froakie.

*Boom*

"Froakie!" Ryan shouts in distress seeing the impact. Froakie ended up getting sent back flying and hit the ground.

*Thump*

Geodude who stopped rolling had visible damage on its body, showing that Froakie did a decent amount of damage just from that one exchange.

"Are you alright Froakie?" Ryan says questioning his Pokemon. Froakie wiping its shoulders proceeds to stand up and give its trainer a thumbs up. Watching this I couldn't help but gain a smirk.

"Alright Froakie, {Bubble} one more time!"

"{Thunder Punch}."

As the bubbles headed towards Geodude's direction, he swatted them away using his fists and made its way to Froakie who was still charging up energy from using so many attacks.

"Dodge Froakie!"

Froakie who was on the ground panting wasn't able to recover and ends up getting smacked with a direct {Thunder Punch} sending it straight to the ground.

*Crack*

"Oh no~," I say amused at the situation. My opponent was able to recover by the middle of the fight but it was too late. I've fought too many trainers and I just tried to look at the bright side of most boring battles.

"Froakie noo!" Ryan shouts running into the stage. Watching this scene, I just boredly walked up to the guy wanting to give him a few words of encouragement. As Ryan stood up and held his Froakie in his arms, I reached out my arm.

"That was a good first gym battle, if you train more you'll do great. I'll see you at the Indigo Conference." I tease with a smile. Ryan gaining a smile from the compliment shakes my hand.

"Aren't you gonna head out for your journey any day now?" He asks with stars in his eyes. Nodding at his words I suddenly get a bad feeling from this encounter for some reason. "If it's okay can we travel together? I can cook and do other things."

Hearing this I just squint my eyes.

I didn't know how to respond but I know for sure I ain't never getting a travelling companion unless it benefits me a lot. Travelling at someone else's pace just ruins the journey for me, I'd rather go where I want and when I want.

"Na sorry, I don't like travelling with others," I respond making Ryan get a gloomy look. Patting his shoulders I talk to him for a bit longer until I exited the gym.

...

"Bwoda dun good!"

"Bring back some chocolate."

"You have to become the strongest for Tilly."

"Catch an Eevee please!"

My family started to say their goodbyes as I had everything packed up and ready to go. My mother who was holding the youngest twins, gave me a little wave with the twins doing the same.

With a huge smile marked on my face, I released Aron from his Pokeball.

"Aron?" The very not little guy growls confusedly. Looking at the Everstone on its neck, I realise it's finally time.

"Come here, buddy," I say hushing him closer. Squatting down I take off the collar and suddenly a bright light engulfed Aron fully. My whole family including Dad and excluding Brock was watching in awe.

Metamorphosis started to affect Aron as through the bright light you could see a shape being formed.

'Holy shit, I've seen evolutions mid-fight because of my job but it's still cool to know that this one's mine.' I thought to myself as the light started to dim down. After a few more seconds a newly reformed Lairon could be seen moving its legs around.

Lairon in its full glory had way more of its body showing an aqua ish blue. While the red on its eyes in more obvious as it looks like it has insomnia which is something I find funny.

"I'll see you guys!" I shout waving back.

And with this I was on my way to Mt. Moon as my first destination. Taking my bike, I make a b-line for route three which would take a few minutes after retrieving Lairon.

'I'll see Lairon's changes when I either get into a battle or see a wild Pokemon.' I giddily thought to myself as I went through a street. It didn't take too long before I got to the exit of Pewter though, because of this bike I could go extremely fast.

I could see why Flint told me to get a self-repairing bike.

"It's so peaceful." I murmur feeling the wind hit my face as I went through the public road to Mt. Moon. There were a lot of normal trainers and civilians walking through this path though.

The public road was quite safe and had minimum amounts of Pokemon roaming near it. Though it still had some come through from time to time, but this isn't an issue.

It took a few minutes until I saw my first few Pokemon as they aren't as common near the entrances of cities.

Looking around I could spot Caterpies, Spearows and Rattatas roaming the place. I've never actually been outside of Pewter yet but this is a breath of fresh air, literally.

I kept on going through the road untill I spotted a trainer walking past.

The trainer hearing my bike go through the road behind him. Turned around and waved at me.

"Battle me!"

Observing the guy, it ended up being a kid with a huge straw hat. He was probably one of those eggaxerated bug catchers from the anime. But no trouble though, I'll battle him.

"Sure." I respond stopping a few meters away from him. Taking out Lairon's Pokeball, I sent him out to battle for the first time outside. With this my opponent also sent out his Pokemon.

"Freee!"

"Lairon!"

The kid surprisingly had a Butterfree which was a third stage evolution, even though it was an easy Pokemon to evolve. It still should of taken some effort from the guy himself.

"I sent the battle request to your device." The kid said excited. Hearing this I took out my Pokedex which had a pop up notification on it.

[Trainer Edison has challenged you to a one-on-one battle]

[Choose amount of money: ______]

This was an interesting system that trainers use to earn money. Winning more battles meant more money to feed yourself and Pokemon. I wonder why this wasn't mentioned in the anime at all.

(A/N: I made the system choose money stuff myself, dont get the sentence wrong. The MC is in the world without knowing this.)
